Recently appointed technical director of Trinidad and Tobago football, German Jochen Figge, will not be taking up his job until January 5.

Figge arrived in Trinidad on Sunday and was introduced to the media on Monday where he explained that his contract with the Football Company of Trinidad and Tobago (FCTT) had not yet been finalised.

Figge was among a list of 23 coaches who applied for the job after local coach Everald 'Gally' Cummings' term expired in July.

He was expected to start his job this month, but said he met with the technical committee of the FCTT on Monday but his 'package' had not yet been finalised.

FCTT chairman Henry Sealey told the conference that Figge would accept the job 'subject to the package'.

CONCACAF chairman, Austin 'Jack' Warner insisted that the deal was nearly completed and that during the discussions with Figge it was agreed that the coach would have a free hand in running the affairs of the country's football over a two-year period.

Warner further pointed out that Figge will also be conducting a number of coaching courses for local and Caribbean coaches.

Figge left Trinidad on Tuesday for Suriname.
