National youth striker Shackiel Henry scored a hattrick in a commanding performance from Presentation San Fernando as the title favourites continued its 100 per cent winning streak with a 6-1 come-from-behind win over Princes Town in the Secondary Schools Football League (SSFL), yesterday.

Following Naparima’s 1-0 edging of St Benedict’s College in the first match of the double-header staged at the Manny Ramjohn Stadium, Marabella, Presentation followed with yet another comfortable win to go eight points at the top of the seven-team South Zone standings, ahead of second place Shiva Boys which was on a bye.

Princes Town took a shock lead in the 6th minute from Anderson Toussaint, which stood until just after the 32nd minute when Henry cancelled the goal, before giving “Pres” a 2-1 lead at the half.

Presentation returned in the second half and with less than a minute gone, Angel Williams scored, followed by Henry’s third and Presentation’s fourth goal in the 57th minute. Rakim Francis and Renaldo Atwell scored a further two insurance items from Rakim Francis (68th) and Renaldo Atwell (81st).

Up North, champions St Anthony’s College was held to its third draw of the season after a defiant Diego Martin North Secondary recorded yet another 0-0 stalemate, at St Anthony’s College Ground.

St Anthony’s College, despite the disappointing result, remained unmoved at the top of the standings (18 points), but found a new threat in St Mary’s College, which soared into second place with a convincing 4-2 victory over Fatima.

Jomal Francois and Marcus Gomes both scored a hat-trick as Arima North crushed Toco 6-1 at the Larry Gomes Stadium, Malabar to extend its lead at the top of the East Zone to four points.

Francois got his goals in the eighth, 43rd and 62nd minutes while Gomez found the target in the 16th off a deflection, 35th and 42nd minute for the winners, now with 18 points from eight matches, four more than San Juan North which was on a bye.

Defending champions, El Dorado East got a first-half double from Shaquille Bertrand to secure a 2-1 win over El Dorado West and improved to 13 points with a match in hand in third spot while Ricardo John also netted twice for St Augustine to whipped Trinity East 4-1 and solidify its hold on fourth spot with eleven points and a match in hand as well.

In the Central Zone, Shaquille Holder continued his great form in front of goal with a beaver-trick to carry his season tally to 19 as Carapichaima East came-from-behind to spank host Tabaquite, 7-1.

Holder fired in his items in the 39th, 48th, 75th and 79th minute while Akeel James (67th), Joshua Eneau (73rd) and Derreek Cox (76th) added one each for “Caps” after Jabari Ramkissoon had opened the scoring for Tabaquite.

The win pushed Carapichaima to 15 points from six matches, four more than Chaguanas North which dropped two valuable points in a 1-1 draw away to Presentation College at Home Land Gardens, Chaguanas.

In the zone’s other match, Jerome Lewis’ 40th minute goal secured a 1-0 win for third placed Couva West over Gasparillo at Guaracara Park, Point-a-Pierre.
