Maria MohammedUniversity of Tampa defender Maria Mohammed was named an honorable mention selection to the 2008 Daktronics Women’s Soccer All-American team after being a first-team all-South Region and Sunshine State Conference player.

Mohammed, a senior from Stafford, Va., served as the team captain while being one of five Spartans to start all 22 games. Mohammed tallied three goals and two assists as the squad’s top defender, including a game-winning goal at West Georgia. Her defensive unit allowed UT to outscore opponents 50-25.

The team is sponsored by Daktronics, Inc., an acknowledged world leader in scoring, timing and programmable display systems for virtually every sport at every level of competition. The team is voted on by the members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
