As he recovers from a recent hernia operation, eyeing a return to action by the middle of January, the former Newcastle United custodian will be spending tomorrow's Christmas holiday with his wife Desha and four daughters.
"My wishes for the festive season with regards to the national team will be wanting to see everyone unite in their efforts for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers. Despite the seemingly easy passage through the preliminary rounds this campaign will be a lot more difficult than that for 2002, I can almost guarantee that," Hislop said.
"For the Nation, I would like for there to be an end to the genuine fear and misery that the continuing crime spree has brought to the law abiding citizens of T&T. There must be an end to the lawlessness and the rebirth of national pride would please me most," said the former St Mary's College man.
On a personal note he added "I want a speedy and successful recovery. It's all going according to schedule so far and I should be back to full fitness by the middle of January. More importantly I want to see Portsmouth regain their winning ways. A disastrous run of form has seen us drop in to the bottom three, and we're sorely in need of a win to regain our confidence."
