Nathaniel LogieA Prairie Fire men's soccer player has been on an offensive roll lately, and the Midwest Conference has taken notice.

Sophomore forward Nathaniel Logie (Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago, Queens Royal College) was especially dangerous over the past week, combining for five goals and two assists in Knox victories at Concordia University Chicago and at home against Iowa Wesleyan College and Robert Morris University – Springfield.

Logie scored two goals in the matches against Concordia and Iowa Wesleyan and one against RMU to bring his season total to nine, which ranks second in NCAA Division III. He's also #3 in the nation in total points with 20 and leads the Midwest Conference in all scoring categories.

Logie is the latest recipient of the Midwest Conference Men's Soccer Offensive Performer of the Week award for his outstanding play on the field. The MWC announced the honor on Monday.

Logie has been a key part of the Prairie Fire's success so far this season. Knox has rolled off six straight wins, including four shutouts, after falling to #21 and undefeated DePauw University 6-0 in the season-opening match at home on August 31.

The Prairie Fire lead all NCAA Division III teams in goals (32), assists (26), and total points (90). Knox is also third in the country in assists per game (3.71) and points per game (12.86), and the squad's average of 4.57 goals per game is good for #6 nationally. Individually, sophomore Charlie Harned (Webster Groves, MO, Clayton) is the NCAA D-III leader in total assists.

Logie and his teammates try for a seventh consecutive win on Wednesday at home against MacMurray College (0-5) in the annual Ferris Trophy match. The contest is scheduled to start at 4:00 p.m.

The Prairie Fire topped the Highlanders 7-1 last season in the inaugural contest for the trophy in Jacksonville, Illinois. More information about the Ferris Trophy and how the rivalry came to be is available here.

A win by Knox would not only allow the Prairie Fire to keep the trophy, but also establish the most victories for the men's soccer program in 14 years. The 1999 team finished with an overall record of 7-8-1, including a 4-5 mark in the Midwest Conference.
