A few years ago, if you would research the name Miguel Ross you probably wouldn’t discover anything. Now the 158 lb., 5’9” college freshman soccer player is having a stellar year with the West Chester University soccer program.

He has now been known for his speed and his agility on the ball that can threaten any defense. Miguel Ross a graduate of Bon Air Secondary School where he played for their team with the goal of entering Inter-Col, but, unfortunately, this goal was never reached.

He received a brief stint on the Trinidad and Tobago National U-17 Team but has unable receive his first cap because he was cut before the team left for Jamaica for the CONCACAF tournament. In the year 2011, the young soccer player migrated to the United States where he continued his football. He played for Pottstown High School for two years in which he performed well.

In the 2011-2012 season, he scored 14 goals accompanied by 3 assists. He was also selected for the PAC 10 2nd all-star team. In the 2012-2013 season, he scored 28 goals accompanied by 3 assist. With this he broke the Pottstown High school most goal record in a single season. He was also selected for the PAC 10 1st all-star team.

He ended his high school career with 42 goals with 6 assists in two seasons as a forward. He also played for FC Delco where he helped his team to win the Pennsylvania State Cup by scoring the game winning goal in the second half of extra time. After having a successful senior year in high school and a successful club year, he set his eyes on the start of his college career.

In the fall of 2013, he started his college soccer career under the leadership of Head Coach Michael Benn. To fit into Benn’s system, he was transformed into a left midfield player. This year, West Chester University has experienced a remarkable year where they had a 12-4-2 season as well as making it to the PSAC semifinal.

Ross, however experience some personal success scoring 11 goals and 1 assist in 19 games which consisted of 3 game winning goals. Ross also started 12 of those 19 games.

He is now ranked 7th in the PSAC for goals and tied for 39th in the nation for Division II soccer goals leader board. In addition, Miguel Ross was selected for the PSAC all-star second-team as a midfield player. He also named to the 2013 Daktronics All- Atlantic Region Men’s soccer second team as a midfielder.

The freshman scored several highlight reel goals throughout the season and sent the Golden Rams to the PSAC semifinals with an overtime goal against Shippensburg in the quarterfinals.

Ross is tied for the team lead with 11 goals and he has scored seven goals in the Golden Rams final seven games. With his College soccer career success he has also made it his mission to keep his grades up therefore become the ideal Student-athlete.

This young Trinidadian native has his eyes on day he will be given the opportunity to represent the Red, White, and Black on the international stage.
