A University of Maine Fort Kent soccer player could be playing in the National Women’s Soccer League. Kimika Forbes attended the Boston Breakers open tryout earlier this month and because of her performance  at the camp she was offered a spot on the reserve team.

Forbes: “There were two rounds in the tryout and I got past the first round. I was so happy to be called back for the second round of tryouts which was on the same day. I am currently on the Reserve team and have the opportunity to make the first team because I recently came out of camp with the first team. I’m supposed to be returning this weekend.”

Forbes had a great two year career at UM Fort Kent. She was named USCAA First Team All American both years and helped lead the Bengals to the National Championship last November. Her coach Lucas Levesque says it’s a great opportunity for Forbes and great news for the Bengals Program.

Levesque:” First off it’s great for Kamika to continue to play the game that she loves. She is going to continue and finish up her degree. She has a few classes left to take. Being able to see UMFK on a Boston Breakers Roster would be a neat thing for us and a great recruiting tool as well.”

Forbes says there is a chance she could be on Breakers Opening Day roster. She has been attending the training camps and the coaches have been very impressed with her work ethic.

Forbes:” One of the comments they gave me was you improved and you are willing to listen and that is what we like about you and you are a hard worker.”

Forbes is also the National team goalie for Trinidad and Tobago, the team just finished a four game swing through South Carolina . Forbes team won three games and had one draw on the trip. Trinidad and Tobago are looking to secure a spot in the 2016 World Cup which will be held in Canada.

Forbes:” It’s a good opportunity because normally from CONCAAF you only take two teams that advances to World Cup Qualifications and this year four spots up for grabs and that is really good for us.”

She said it was always a dream of hers to play Professional Soccer and she feels that attending UMFK helped her achieve her goal.

Forbes:” I really got into and got so loved for this place. Not knowing so many people support me with congratulations on Facebook . I am like wow I am so loved in this community and I appreciate all the love and thank everyone who has been supporting me.”
