The Golden Grizzlies notched their fourth victory in a row Sunday afternoon after routing Coastal Carolina 4-1 to wrap up their tour of the Niagara Falls Classic.

After netting two goals Friday against Niagara, it didn’t take junior Sebastian Harris too long to get hot as he sent his first shot of the game sailing past Chanticleer goalkeeper Phillip Latham at 13:46 off an assist from senior Martin Sandell to make the score 1-0 in favor of Oakland.

The first half then became a gritty battle on the field, as both teams were issued a variety of yellow cards, which came to a head when Coastal Carolina’s Oron Levy was given a straight red card and was removed from the game at 32:02. Senior Wade Allan entered the fray as a sub in the 35th minute and scored Oakland’s second goal of the game with 53 seconds remaining in the half off of a blocked shot that was originally fired by freshman Winston Henderson to put OU up 2-0 going into halftime.

It only took just over a minute for the Golden Grizzlies get fired up in the second half, as Harris missed a penalty kick at 46:29 and sophomore Makesi Lewis took advantage of the loose ball to give Oakland a 3-0 advantage.

Harris was ejected from the game at 48:18 after receiving a red card of his own and the Chanticleers took advantage just 39 seconds later at 48:57, when Robert Hunter sneaked a shot past OU goalkeeper Steve Clark, to put the Chanticleers on the board 3-1.

Oakland would make a mark on the scoreboard one more time when senior Piotr Nowak fired a shot off a save at 78:26 to bring the score to 4-1, which is how it would stay for the remainder of the contest.

Four Golden Grizzlies also earned a spot on the 2008 Niagara Falls Classic All-Tournament Team. Senior defenseman Ian Daniel, Harris, who scored three goals in two games, Nowak, who tallied one assist and one goal, and Clark, who stopped eight shots on goal in both contests.

Oakland hits the road once more Friday, Sept. 12 when they will take on the University of Tulsa in Dallas, Texas. The game is scheduled for a 6 p.m. start time.
