Lincoln University of Pennsylvania sophomore goalie Andre Wilkinson made several huge saves down the stretch to help the Lions hang on for a 3-2 victory over Penn State-Abington Wednesday afternoon.

Wilkinson recorded five of his seven saves in the final 16 minutes to help Lincoln successfully protect a one-goal lead and win its second consecutive match. With the victory, Lincoln (3-4 overall) tied its win total from 2007.

Lincoln appeared headed for a comfortable victory following first half goals from Joseph Forde and Theon Francis that gave the Lions a 2-0 lead. Lincoln nursed that margin throughout the entire first half. Seye Adekayne added to Lincoln’s advantage six minutes into the second half with a sensational goal. Adekayne leaped over the PSU-Abington goalie and calmly directed the ball into the empty net for a 3-0 Lincoln edge.

However, Penn State-Abington’s Chris Ulmer scored a pair of penalty kick goals to help cut Lincoln’s lead to 3-2 with 25 minutes remaining. PSU-Abington continued to apply pressure, but Wilkinson stood tall and answered every challenge.

In addition to his goal, Adakayne added an assist on Forde’s goal. Both teams combined for 18  shots. PSU-Abington outshot, 11-7.

Lincoln wraps up its four-match home stand Sunday afternoon against Columbia Union beginning at 3:00 p.m.
