David Robb (Bangor, No. Ireland) opened the scoring at the 24:50 mark in the first half with a goal off a free kick from 24 yards out to put the Lions up 1-0.

MHC struck again five minutes later to take a 2-0 lead. Troy Cole (Laguna Hills, Calif.) headed Rury Caulfield's (Glasgow, Scotland) corner kick into the net past Tornados' goalkeeper Jerry Hatsady (Orlando, Fla.).

At the 40:30 mark, Lions' goalkeeper Sean Merfeld (Alpharetta, Ga.) was tagged with a yellow card which gave Brevard a penalty kick. Ian Townson (Boiling Springs, S.C.) converted the kick into a goal which cut the Lions' lead to 2-1.

The second half turned into the Ernest Sobers' (Enterprise, Trinidad) show as the forward recorded two goals, the first at the 45:59 mark and the second at 80:42. Sobers' first goal gave MHC a commanding 3-1 lead.

Ryan Ayers (Orlando, Fla.) scored a goal for the Tornados from 30 yards out to trim the Lions' lead to 3-2 but Sobers found the net off a rebound from a Rafael Berrios' (Marietta, Ga.) shot.

Douglas Neill (Inellan, Scotland) scored a late goal for Brevard at the 88:50 mark, but MHC's defense stood strong and preserved the 4-3 victory. The Lions outshot Brevard 26-12 overall and most notably 18-5 in the second half.

Merfeld made five saves for the Lions. Hatsady recorded 14 saves for the Tornados.
