In an action packed soccer match tonight at Wilson Stadium, the University of the District of Columbia Firebirds and the St. Thomas Aquinas Spartans played to a double overtime 1-1 tie. UDC struck first in the 25th minute when freshman forward Akail Belfon ( Brooklyn, NY) took a cross from freshman defender Kevin Santos (Sterling, VA) and kicked the ball in the back of the net.

The match remained tied until the 74th minute when Spartan senior defender Steven Rozycki scored on a penalty kick in the 74th minute. Regulation time ended with the score tied after Firebird senior defender Myron Douglas (Gasparillo, Trinidad) just missed scoring when the ball sailed high over the net. The match ended in a tie after two overtime periods.
