Sophomore midfielder Sean de Silva (Port-of-Spain, Trinidad) and freshman distance runner Dena O'Brien (Pelham, Ala.) were tabbed College of Charleston Student-Athletes of the Week sponsored by Piggly Wiggly for the week of Sept. 20.

De Silva led the men's soccer team to a 4-0 rout of Bucknell on Sept. 17 and a 3-0 shutout of Lehigh on Sept. 19 to win the home-hosted Nike/Aaron Olitsky Memorial Soccer Classic held at Patriots Point. He was named to the all-tournament team and tallied three goals against the Bison and Mountain Hawks combined, two of which were game-winners for the Cougars. De Silva was named to College Soccer New's National Team of the Week as one of the top 11 players in the country. Prior to his CofC career, de Silva starred for the Trinidad and Tobago National Team since the age of 14 and competed in the U-17 World Cup for his country against Colombia and Germany.

O'Brien continued an excellent start to her young Cougar career as well with a fourth-place individual finish at the Asics-Winthrop Invitational held on Sept. 18 in Rock Hill, S.C. She clocked in a career-best time of 18 minutes, 8.11 seconds and was second among runners hailing from the state of South Carolina at the meet. It was her second top-10 finish of the season as she was the top finisher for the Cougar cross country team with a fourth-place time of 18:09 at the 5K Eye Opener hosted by USC Upstate on Sept. 4 in Spartanburg, S.C.
