The Manhattanville Valiants men's soccer team faced its' first road test of the 2011 campaign and passed with flying colors taking down the Farmingdale State Rams by the score of 6-0 as junior Eros Olazabal (Milton, Ontario/Bishop Reding) scored three times in the shutout.

Manhattanville got off to a rapid start in terms of shots as junior defender Sebastian Siring (Gothenburg, Sweden/Katrinelundsgymnasiet) took a shot just 1:10 into the contest off a corner kick from senior Adam Kent (London, England/Sutton Grammar). Manhattanville rattled off the next five shots before yielding a pair to Farmingdale.

After Farmingdale's second shot sailed wide of the goal the Valiant offense moved onto the attack as Eros crossed a pass over to freshman Yani Quinteros (Shirley, N.Y./William Floyd) who chipped the ball into the top right corner of the goal to give the Valiants the 1-0 lead at the 28:17 mark.

Less than seven minutes later senior midfielder Keston George (Port-of-Spain, Trinidad & Tobago/Victory Christian Academy) took a free kick that sailed over the head of goalkeeper Matthew Ward and into the Farmingdale goal for the 2-0 lead.

Manhattanville opened up a three goal advantage at the 38:54 point when junior Marco Blasetti (Yonkers, N.Y./Rye Country Day) passed to Eros who rattled the net for his first goal of the afternoon.

The remaining 6:06 rolled off the clock and the Valiant headed into the halftime break with a 3-0 lead and outshooting their opponents 15-3.

After halftime the offense picked up right where they left off getting six shots off in an eight minute span, they finally broke through at the 66:01 point when Eddie Salgado (Houtson, Texas/YES College Prep) tallied his first career goal after a scramble in front of the net. Under three minutes later the Valiants opened up a 5-0 margin when Eros scored his second of the afternoon off of a pass from Kent.

Eros struck once more before the game was over during the 75th minute when he knocked in a cross off a corner kick from Kent once more as the duo accounted for the final two Valiant tallies.

Manhattanville got a pair of shots from Quinteros in the final three minutes of the contest to increase their second half total to 13 while holding the Rams to none in the second half. The shot totals in the game were well in favor of the Valiants with a 28-3 margin.

The Valiants also led in terms of corners with 12-1, nine of which came in the first half.

Graduate Jason Torres (Harrison, N.Y./Harrison) got the start in goal for Manhattanville making one save while picking up the victory, he gave way to Brad Deeb (Burkburnett, Texas/Burkburnett) with 15:40 remaining. For Farmingdale, Ward played all 90 minutes making 15 saves and allowing the six Valiant goals.

The Valiants (6-1) will continue their two-game road trip on Saturday when they travel to Albright to take on the Lions on Saturday at 6:00 p.m. Farmingdale (2-6) will be back in action on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. when they travel to NYU-Poly to take on the Fighting Blue Jays
