The College of Charleston men's soccer team drew with Davidson in the regular-season finale at Alumni Stadium on Tuesday evening. For the third straight game, the Cougars outshot their opponent but were unable to but couldn't come away with the result.

With the draw, CofC enters the Southern Conference Men's Soccer Championship as the seventh seed and will challenge second-seed Furman on Sunday, Nov. 6 at 6 p.m. Davidson needed the draw to claim the fourth seed and host the opening round of the tournament which they'll do against Appalachian State on Sunday at 7 p.m.

The Cougars came away with a 23-15 shot advantage and put seven shots on goal in the affair.

CofC snatched an early lead when Robbie Benson (Rock Hill, S.C.) collected a ball off a Davidson turnover in its own end and moved the ball to Sean de Silva (Port of Spain, Trinidad) who blasted a shot into the net in the fourth minute.

The Cougars clung to the lead until the 70th minute when a Davidson corner kick rattled around the crowd in the box until Jake Keator booted it home to equalize the match.

The teams went back and forth without scoring until the final 10 minutes of regulation. In the 82nd minute, Francis Twohig (St. Simon's Island, Ga.) earned the lead back for CofC off an individual effort he completed from ten yards away.

Davidson responded again, however, when Greg Macnamara flicked the ball over the Cougar defense and Allen Page collected it and scored to force overtime.

The Cougars outshot Davidson, 4-1, over the two overtime periods but the extra time wasn't enough for either side to produce the game winner.

A win on Sunday over Furman would lift the Cougars to the semifinals to be played on the campus of Appalachian State. The Cougars would see the winner of third-seed Georgia Southern and sixth-seed Elon. Just like in Tuesday's result, the Cougars played to a 2-2 draw when they played Furman in the regular season back on Oct. 8.
