Joe Public goalkeeper Jevon Bourne was adjudged the Most Valuable Player of the 2011 BMobile National Super League for his efforts between the sticks which saw the former T&T Pro team walk away with the lion’s share of the prizes at Tuesday’s awards ceremony at Jaffa Restaurant, Queen’s Park Oval.

Bourne and teammate Brent Antoine were named among the League’s five outstanding players of the season with Fabian Garcia (WASA FC), Tyrone Manning (Stokely Vale FC) and Darren Mitchell (1976 FC Phoenix) completing the list.

Joe Public was the season’s top team, taking home the $150,000 first prize for winning the Super League and the $50,000 winning for copping the knockout title, defeating Stokely Vale into second spot in both instances. Public also won the Christmas Cup with Westside Super Starz FC finishing runners up.

Santa Rosa FC was the most successful team in the Under  17 and Under  15 competitions with Tunapuna Titans taking the Under 13 title. Santa Rosa’s Kyle Jagessar and Andre Rampersad captured the Most Promising player award in the Under 15 and Under 17ompetitions respectively. Tunapuna’s Warren Chase took home the same award in the Under 13 category.

TTFF Acting President Lennox Watson congratulated the respective winners and thanked the participants for ensuring the season turned out to be a highly competitive and exciting one. He also pledged the TTFF’s staging of successful Super League seasons for several years to come.

Marketing director of All Sports Promotions, the event managers of the League, said there would be plans to make the 2012 season another exciting one with special activities taking place to commemorate T&T’s 50th Independence Anniversary. He also thanked Bmobile for their continued support, saying that efforts were being made to take the prize earnings up to $600,000 in 2012.

Joe Public head coach Dale Saunders was elated over his team's success.

"It means a lot to the coaches and the players to have come out of the season on such a high note. We kept our focus and the players gave everything. We had some stiff competition, especially from Stokely Vale but we came out tops in the end.

I am particularly happy for the two players who ended up in the top five players of the season. We will continue to work hard and we will try our best to maintain our winning record this season coming," Saunders said.
