Last season’s treble winning club bmobile Joe Public sealed a second win in as many matches, when Match Day Two of the blink/bmobile National Super League kicked off at six venues, yesterday.

The reigning champions recorded a very comfortable 3-0 win over Defence Force, in the latter team’s fortress, the Youth Camp, Chaguaramas.

Three different players got on the scoresheet, none of whom were on target in its season opening 5-1 crushing of Westside Super Starz, last Sunday.

Ricardo Bennett opened in the first minute of the match, before Ellis Dyett doubled up in the 11th minute. Donovan Derrick sealed Joe Public’s win with an effort in the 70th minute.

Westside Super Starz responded brilliantly from its opening round loss to the champions, by whipping newly promoted Biche United 4-0 at St Anthony’s Ground, Westmoorings.

Biche United, a club which boasts of some of the best support for any club in the country travelled to West Trinidad but was unable to make any meaningful impact, as it slumped to consecutive losses.

Troy Thompson (3rd), Kareem Freitas (71st), Cyrano Glen (90th+1) and former San Juan Jabloteh attacker Keron Cummings (90th+2) were all on target, in a match where the team could have won by a much wider margin if it was not for the heroics of Biche goalkeeper Aaron Ali.

In Tobago, a derby clash between 1976 FC Phoenix and Stokely Vale at Canaan, Bon Accord, resulted in the latter walking away with a narrow 1-0 win.

Deon Thomas bagged the only goal late on in the 82nd minute. Dave Grimshaw saw a red card for Phoenix.

At WASA Ground, St Joseph, WASA FC and Real Maracas played to a nil nil draw, while Club Sando rebounded from a first round loss to edge Siparia Spurs 2-1.

Jason Boodram scored a double for the winning team, before Siparia responded in the 73rd minute with an effort from Kareem Gibson.

A red card to Sidiki Stuart for abusive language almost assured the other newly promoted team, Siparia Spurs a second loss in as many matches.

FC Santa Rosa and Eagles United contested the late fixture, which was still in action up to press time, last evening.
