Unbeaten Club Sando maintained their five-goal cushion atop the bmobile National Super League standings with a 1-0 victory over Real Maracas FC on Sunday at the Ato Boldon Stadium in Couva.

Corneal Thomas struck in the 41st minute to give the leaders a 1-0 half-time lead, which they rode to the end of regulation to pick up three important points.

Malabar FC kept the pressure on Club Sando with a victory of their own, a 2-1 triumph over Guaya United at the Guaya Recreation Ground.

Cyrano Glen struck twice inside the first half-hour to give Malabar the advantage, and they won even though Russell Alfred (42nd) struck for Guaya before the break.

The leaders now have seven wins and two draws in nine fixtures.

That result meant Malabar and Guaya traded places, the three points putting Malabar second with 24 points.

Guaya are third, still on 22, and seven points adrift of Club Sando (29).

Other winners on the day included Stokely Vale, who edged fellow Tobago side Bethel United 1-0 at the Plymouth Recreation Ground while table-proppers FC Santa Rosa got their first victory of the 2013 season over second-to-last Defence Force, a 3-1 result at The University of Trinidad and Tobago’s (UTT) O’Meara campus.
