Defending champion, WASA regained its top spot in the standings of the bMobile National Super League with a resounding 11-0 win over Economy Strikers yesterday on its home ground in St Joseph.

In moving to 37 points from 17 matches, WASA saw previous leader, Alcoa Carenage United go under to a shocking 1-2 defeat to lowly-placed St Francois Nationals on the Defence Force Youth Camp ground in Chaguaramas. Another team in the title race, Joe Public edged Defence Force 2-1 at Marvin Lee Stadium in Macoya.

Phoenix vs Crab Connection - postponed.

WASA returned to the top of the standings after Match Day 21 in the Bmobile National Super League, destroying Economy Strikers 11-0 at the WASA Ground, St Joseph on Sunday.

Michael Celestine and Stevon Stoute each registered hat-tricks for the reigning league champs, while Anthony Thompson added a pair. Alvris Faure, Nigel “Croc” Pierre and Jerome Dickinson chipped in with one apiece for the hosts. St Francois Nationals produced the day’s lone upset, as they defeated ALCOA Carenage United by a 2-1 margin.

Carenage, who were the leaders entering Sunday’s round of matches, suffered first half goals from Marlon Bowen (28th minute) and Dwain Alzola (35th) at the Youth Camp, Chaguaramas. Curtis Noel pulled a goal back for Carenage in the 77th but St Francois held on for their fifth win of the season, even though they currently lie in 11th position in the 13-team standings. Joe Public were also in winners’ row, with a 2-1 triumph over Defence Force at the Marvin Lee Stadium, Tunapuna.

The “Eastern Lions” Joe Public got an early double from Michael Waldron (10th) and Kendall Joseph (17th) while the Army-Coast Guard combination got a late consolation from Kerwin Coa (75th).

M&M Harvard, as expected, took care of the hapless University of Trinidad and Tobago (UTT) 3-0 at the Hasely Crawford Stadium, Mucurapo.

Chike Phillip (fourth and 49th) and Maurice Simpson (69th) got their names on the scoresheet for Harvard. Club Sando recorded a comfortable 3-0 victory over hosts Harlem Strikers at Frederick Settlement, Caroni, with Jason Boodram, Andy London and Heston Pandoosingh on target. The scheduled fixture between Angostura 1976 FC Phoenix and Crab Connection was cancelled due to flight problems which caused the “Crab” to arrive late at the Canaan, Bon Accord venue.
