Defending champions WASA FC extended their lead in the 2008 bmobile National Super League to four points when they thrashed Alcoa Carenage United 5-0 at Youth Camp in Chaguaramas on Sunday.
WASA led Carenage United by two points before the match, with Joe Public close behind in third. A brace each from Michael Lee Celestine and Darin Lewis and a single item from Stevon Stoute gave them a comprehensive win and took them to 40 points, four ahead of Joe Public (36 points), who beat UTT 4-1 to leap to second, Carenage are third on 35 points.

WASA's next assignment is a home tie with Defence Force at St Joseph from 4 p.m. tomorrow, while Joe Public will be hoping for victory in the first match of a double-header at their home ground, the Marvin Lee Stadium in Macoya, so they can keep pace with the leaders.

Defence Force earned a 3-3 draw with St Francois Nationals over the weekend at Chaguaramas, with Kelshall Alexander equalising for the combined Army/Coast Guard team with a 69th minute strike.

Harlem Strikers beat Economy Strikers 1-0 with Aaron Peters delivering the lone goal of the match in the 18th, while Club Sando got the better of Crab Connection 4-3 despite Connection striker Ricardo Bennett (68th, 73rd, 86th) registering a second half hat-trick within 18 minutes.

The Trinidad and Tobago Under-20 footballers were unable to suit up against Angostura 1976 FC Phoenix in Tobago because of inter-island flight problems.

Tomorrow, T&T's Under-20s will meet Club Sando in the late match of the Marvin Lee Stadium double-header from 6 p.m.

St Francois Nationals will also face off with UTT at a venue yet to be confirmed, while Harlem Strikers and Carenage United lock horns at Frederick Settlement. The other match on the day pits Crab Connection against Economy Strikers at San Juan Secondary ground.

All games, except the Club Sando/T&T Under-20 meeting, kick off at 4 p.m.
