Jason, Nicole and VassiliAt the recently concluded Soca Warriors Supporters Club regional elections, three bright prospects were elected to the North East USA Regional Committee. They are Jason Francis, Nicole Smart and Vassili Ossipov. Well the Gold Cup is over but it ended on a relatively high note. The team fought well and played their best game of the tournament. Inexperience again counted as Dwayne Jack was sent off in the first half and left TnT with the tough task of putting 2 past Guatemala with a man disadvantage.

Despite the loss TnT looked good and Trent Noel hit the woodwork near the end of the first half. As TnT pressed more in the second half Guatemala had more opportunities on the break and after threatening twice with disallowed goals they finally scored with less than 10 minutes to go. TnT then came back with a late goal by Mc Farlane, who also had a chance to score a winner at the death.

In 2007 the Gold Cup returns to an all-CONCACAF format for the first time since 1993. This change is long-overdue for a tournament that has a Confederations Cup place as the top prize. Despite the change, the 12 team format has been retained, making this the most open of the nine tournaments to date. Mexico and the US are still favorites but only four teams will go home after the first round and every team will fancy its chance of advancing in the knockout stages. Teams will be emboldened by the success of Panama and Honduras who advanced to the finals and semi-finals respectively in 2005.
