Top European clubs are lining up bids for Tony Rougier.

Trinidadian winger Rougier will quit crisis club Raith Rovers for free when his contract expires in the summer and take advantage of a new transfer ruling.

And relegated Rovers won't get a penny following the decree by football chiefs that permits non-Euro nationals equal rights to move within the continent once their deals end.

Earlier this season, Rovers snubbed a pounds 400,000 Celtic bid for Rougier who has been watched by German side Karlsruhe.

His agent Raymond Sparkes has been in Europe for three weeks setting up possible moves.

Sparkes said: "Interest in Tony has moved on from Germany.

"There have been enquiries from France, Spain, Italy, and Austria.

"On the basis of that, Tony is sitting pretty."

Rougier is desperate to leave Stark's Park after being involved in frequent bust-ups.

Sacked boss Iain Munro demanded a public apology from him for comments in a newspaper that he cheated his team-mates with lacklustre performances.

The future ownership of Rovers is still in the melting pot.

Four consortiums are believed to be lining up bids.

Now it looks as if an auction will be held to gain control.

Chairman Alex Penman is said to be willing to sell for the 270,000 pounds he paid three years ago.
