TRINIDAD AND Tobago footballer Sheldon Bateau has been offered a two-year extension on his contract at Belgian Pro League club KV Mechelen which will keep him at the club until 2017.

The 23-year-old Bateau, whose current contract expires in June 2015, is rumoured to be on the radar of Dutch clubs Ajax Amsterdam and FC Twente. He is viewed as an integral part of KV Mechelen.

A member of the national teams at the FIFA 2007 Under-17 World Cup(in South Korea) and the 2009 Under-20 World Cup (in Egypt), the former TT Under-20 captain, who can play both in defence and central midfield, joined Mechelen in September 2012, a month after he moved from San Juan Jabloteh to North East Stars.
