Newboy Ricky Shakes took just two minutes to score on his Town debut and after the game he explained his delight at getting off the mark.

Shakes signed on at The County Ground along with Charlie Comyn-Platt on July 1st and made his debut in the red and white shirt at Cirencester last night.

The midfielder started the game opposite former Swindon left-sided player Kevin Halliday and showed much promise with a number of runs and deliveries. Shakes scored with just two minutes on the clock, connecting with a low cross from Gareth Musson.

"I was pleased to get off the mark so soon, I managed to get in the box at the right time and got on the end of it. The penalties in the second half were quite amusing but I wasn't on the field so there was nothing I could do.

"We head to Bideford next week and that will be a good chance to get to know the lads and see how they play in a match situation once again. It is important to spend time with them, as there are a lot of new faces here and everyone is looking forward to it," he finished.
