NEW Wrexham signing Josh Johnson is set to miss the opening match of the new League Two campaign at Wycombe Wanderers on Saturday.

The 24-year-old Trinidad & Tobago winger returned to the Caribbean at the weekend to sort out the paperwork necessary for him to work in this country, but a local public holiday today means a delay of at least 24 hours.

Even if he arrives back in the UK late on Thursday or early Friday, Wrexham manager Denis Smith is loathe to push him straight in at the deep end.

Johnson is more likely to delay his official debut until next Tuesday's match against Grimsby Town at the Racecourse.
