Kenwyne Jones dedicated his double to his new twin daughters after last night's 4-3 thriller.

Arianne and Kaelyn were born just 16 days ago and the Saints striker was delighted to get them a goal each.

But he came away knowing he should have got a third for his son as he somehow contrived to nod his own header off the line.

After netting two spectacular goals to set Saints on the way to a vital victory, Jones could afford to smile at the bizarre miss which cost him the match-ball.

He said: "It was very special to get a goal for each of my girls but I should have had one for my son too.

"I got my head to the ball but did not know where it had gone. I turned round to look for it and it dropped onto my head and away.

"Grzegorz turned it back in and I got a touch from close range and somehow one of their defenders go it off the line.

"But still I am very happy with my goals - and especially with the win because Birmingham are a very strong side.

"They are one of the best teams in this division - if not the best. And it is great for us to show we can beat the best in the league.

"We have gone six games unbeaten now so the confidence is there for us and it showed last night. To put four past Birmingham is a good achievement - and we could have had plenty more.

"My first goal was a bit special, one of the best I have scored and I will treasure that memory for some time.

"It was nice to get a header soon after so I had a goal for each girl. That crowned a very special 15 days for me.

"They got back into it and I was delighted to see Bradley get a goal so soon after coming on. That will help his confidence.

"Now we go to Hull in a fantastic frame of mind knowing we can put in performances like this - and the other teams in the league know we can do it too!
