Jason ScotlandROBERTO Martinez hailed Jason Scotland as unstoppable after the striker's late double earned Swansea City a 2-2 draw with Barnsley last night.

Swansea were heading for demoralising defeat after conceding twice in the first 10 minutes of the second half.

But Scotland kept their hopes of a result alive with a left-foot drive in the 66th minute and then repeated the trick with his right foot in the dying seconds to salvage a point.

"It would be foolish to set Jason a target of goals this season," said Martinez, whose top frontman now has seven strikes to his name.

"But what I would say is that he is a player who is capable of scoring in every game because of the strengths he has.

"There are not many players like that, but Jason should look to score every time he goes out on the pitch.

"He has lacked consistency this season and I know he is frustrated about that, but that is because of his international trips with Trinidad & Tobago. Those demands affect his intensity. But when he is on top of his game, Jason is unstoppable.

"You talk about big players in Swansea City's history and, for the type of player he is, Jason ticks every box.

"He deserved a hat-trick for his performance in the last 35 minutes and this is a message to the rest of the Championship that he is ready to score goals."

Frustrated Barnsley boss Simon Davey said: "I'll probably look back at this as a good result with the injuries we've got, but right now I'm angry.

"I talked to the players about giving Scotland room before the game, at half-time and during the game, but unfortunately they didn't react."

Swansea suffered yet another injury blow last night when Mark Gower limped off with a calf problem which is likely to keep him out of Saturday's home clash with Sheffield United.

"The first half was the most sluggish we've been all season, but the way we came back into the game was worth a point at least," Martinez added.
