SPRINGFIELD, Mass. — American International Athletic Director Matt Johnson announced today that the college has removed the interim tag on Kevon Isa, naming him the full-time Head Coach of the nation's fourth-ranked women's soccer team after spending the last seven seasons as the team's primary assistant coach.

"I would really like to take the opportunity to thank President Vincent Maniaci and Athletic Director Matt Johnson for allowing me this great opportunity to lead the women's soccer program at AIC," stated Isa. "It is an honor to be chosen to lead the program. I intend to build on the great foundation left by Matt and I'm really excited to get working with the quality returning and incoming players this fall."

Isa has been instrumental in building the program. He helped guide the Yellow Jackets to a 52-23-7 record over the past four years with three NCAA tournament appearances in that timeframe.

In 2013, the Yellow Jackets had its most impressive season to date, posting a record of 18-3-2 and earning a trip to the NCAA Division II Final Four.

The year prior, AIC captured the Northeast-10 regular season title with a near-perfect mark of 12-1-2 in conference play.

"Coach Isa being promoted to head coach is awesome for the program. It's so nice to have someone internal step up and lead the team," said senior captain and goalkeeper Samantha Tabak. "He knows us all and we are comfortable with him. He's a great coach and is ready to continue to take this program to the next level."

Isa also holds coaching assignments at Western United FC, a premier soccer club that plays in the Massachusetts Premier League. He has guided the Western United U-19 boy's soccer team to the Massachusetts State Cup title five years in a row, and the U-15 boy's team to the semifinal round of the State Cup tournament.

Isa holds Advanced National and Regional Goalkeeper diplomas from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) and has a United States Soccer Federation (USSF) B License.

As a player, Isa was a two-year letter winner as a member of the Yellow Jackets' men's soccer team and was named captain his senior season. Prior to his arrival at AIC, Isa played two years at Bryant & Stratton Junior College in Syracuse, New York where he was a two-year captain. He also earned all-league honors and was the recipient of the team's Leadership Award.

Isa later played professionally with the Springfield Legends in the PSAL and the Massachusetts Twisters of the American Indoor Soccer League. He was also a member of the Trinidad and Tobago U-17 and U-20 National Teams.

Isa is a 2002 graduate of AIC, earning a bachelor's of science in marketing, and is working towards his master's degree at AIC. He currently resides in Springfield with his family.
