Barnsley new boy Jason Scotland is hoping to win a new deal after impressing since his arrival at Oakwell.

Scotland joined Barnsley last week on a free transfer after leaving Ipswich Town and he has scored two goals in two games, including the winner against Blackpool on Saturday.

The 33-year-old is happy with his start to life at Barnsley and he hopes he can persuade them to extend his stay at the club after initially signing a short-term deal.

"I just want to continue playing well and scoring goals and then see what will happen from there," said Scotland.

"I will be out of contract at the end of the season, but if I can continue scoring then the gaffer might come knocking on the door.

"As a striker you thrive on scoring goals. Two in two? I can't explain it, but the boys have been doing well.

"Perhaps they had not been scoring enough but hopefully I can contribute to that and we can now start to climb the league."
