The Trinidad and Tobago midfielder, who initially signed up until January, has impressed with a string of sterling performances and has committed himself to the Club until the summer of 2005.
Head Coach John Hughes was delighted to break the news, saying, “It’s been apparent to myself and Brian Rice for while now, that Brent was a player we needed to keep at the Club. He is very adaptable, and can play a number of different positions on the right hand side. His delivery of the ball is exceptional, and we are absolutely delighted at his decision to extend. The Board have been very supportive of our wishes, and the timing is excellent, as there is no doubt that a number of clubs would have been looking at Brent, and hoping to pick him up for free in January.”
Yogi reckons this news will delight the fans, almost as much as him, “I think the fans really appreciate Brent’s work ethic, and the shift he puts in. It’s certainly impressed Brian Rice and I in the short time that Brent has been at the Club. I also think that the length of the deal shows, that whilst our remit this season is to win the first division, we are planning for the future. Brent is at just the right age, and I’m sure his career will really blossom at Falkirk.”
John went on, “I realise that we will be needing a striker come January, but I’m sure people will agree that Brent was one we just couldn’t let slip away. I’m sure with the backing and support of the Board of Directors we can work something out.”
Rahim, 25, has played for his country on over thirty occasions, and counts Northampton Town, West Ham United and Levski Sofia among his former clubs.
Yogi has also informed the official website that he currently has a young French striker over on trial presently, “The boy, who I’m not naming, has been training with us for the past few days. He started his career with Auxerre, but took a back seat from playing to concentrate on his studies. He is now determined to start playing again, and we’re having a look at him. It’s apparent he knows the game; he has an excellent technique. He freely admits his fitness isn’t what it should be, but that can be addressed. We’ll just have to wait and see if anything comes of it.”
There was more good news for the Falkirk Head Coach this week, as he picked up his second Manager of the Month award this season. Yogi was voted top boss for November, but still insists it should be a team award, “I’ll say the same I said the last time, it’s the team who get the results. We won four games on the trot and it’s very pleasing that your efforts are recognised, but my players take the credit – not me.”
