Kenwyne Jones has been ruled out of this afternoon's home game against Leeds after failing to arrive back on time from international duty.

The Saints striker was due back for training yesterday after helping Trinidad and Tobago qualify for the world Cup finals for the first time in their history.

But he failed to show amid reports from the Caribbean that the country's president had ordered the team to fly back for a victory parade.

Saints boss Harry Redknapp has been unable to contact Jones and therefore had to rule him out of his plans for today's  big game, tickets on general sale up to kick-off at 3pm. Book online...

He said: "We were expecting him back yesterday morning but he missed training so we will have to go without him for this one.

"We have plenty of other options but it will be interesting to see how many of the other English-based players are back for this weekend's games.

"Port Vale will want Chris Burchill and Wrexham will want Dennis Lawrence and I wonder if they are back.

"I can understand the celebrations but it is the clubs who pay the wages. However I cannot really comment until I have spoken to Kenwyne and found out why he has been delayed."
