Nice. Morelicks up next at home, Trinity on a bye and QRC should give St. Anthony's hell after their defeat.

A good chance to get ahead of the chasing pack. Come on Saints!

BTW, I heard is a shortened season. Does that mean the regular season is only 6 games?

Whais de story on that 90'+ Naps goal?

naps scored in stoppage time, ref played 5 extra minutes and naps scored with virtually the last kick.  Pres played with 10 men for most of the game....overall naps had a slight edge in the game regarding possession but they didn't look good.

i heard shiva boys looking good under dexter francis.

right here. disappointed by the result but it seems the Tigers are the team to beat this year. In a shortened season you can't afford no slip ups. We had no business drawing against Trinity, and now losing to the Tigers at home is just waving the title goodbye.
We'll see how they do in the cup...

The good thing is it seems is a young side so we have potential for growth.

Now I know I not mad, but ah sit down here reading the offline version of the Guardian and dem have Signal Hill winning Intercol 4 times, 1984, 1987, 1988, & 1998.

I was in school the day after we win the match in 1989.  Mih cousin (and classmate) Jerome Smart, a midfielder, was man of the match and there was no school that day.  We was just partying.  Also having won the title 3 times straight (87, 88, and 89) we got to keep that trophy.   If we had won in 1990 it would have been a record 4 times straight, but Malick and Arnold Dwarika mash up those plans.

I could also be wrong but I think the last time Signal Hill won was in 1995.  I was in the stadium for that one.  It was the first time an Intercol title was decided on a sudden death golden goal scored by the most unlikely of players Burt Burris.

The only year ah not sure about is 1984....but Signal Hill may have won a title in the early 80's.  If so ah not sure of the year.

Ah going and call the Guardian.....steups!!!....

Tigers devour Signal Hill 3-0
...meet St Augustine in Friday's 'Big Five' final

By Kern De Freitas kern.defreitas@trinidadexpress.com

St Anthony's College roared into Friday's BG T&T Secondary Schools Football League final, opposite St Augustine Secondary, the North Zone champions tearing through Signal Hill Secondary 3-0 yesterday, at the Hasely Crawford Stadium.

The "Tigers", even without their main goalkeeper Jamal Francois and captain Dwight Ceballo, made light work of their rivals to stay unbeaten this season with their usual attacking flair and movement off the ball. Another Francois, left-winger Andel, was Signal Hill's main tormentor, and was involved in two goals, which left him a shoo-in to be player of the match.

Defender and vice captain Jemali Garcia stepped up to take the first of two penalties in the opening period, while Keane McIvor hit net just before half-time. Captain Raychard Allen scored, again from the penalty spot, after the break to lead his team into the final.  St Anthony's deserved their 2-0 half-time lead. They took the first few minutes to size up Signal Hill's attack, as the Tobagonians used their pace and ball control in their attempts to seize the early advantage. But once the Tigers settled, Signal Hill had little answer for their running game, punctuated by crisp short passing and high tempo.  Signal Hill had the first attack that brought a save out of Dominic Amoroso, and as they had done in Friday's quarterfinal against Carapichaima, attacked strongly from the wings, especially through Shaquille Gill on the left.

But with a faster game and more stout defence than the Central champs, St Anthony's dulled that threat. They controlled the midfield, and freed up Mc Ivor and their own little pocket dynamo in Francois (A) to create havoc in the Signal Hill penalty box. The first goal came in the 21st minute. After Moriba Ballah was bundled over in the area, Garcia converted the resultant spot kick.

Though Signal Hill poured forward looking for the equaliser, pushing numbers upfield, they only ended up conceding a second on 40 minutes, a nice build up with good one-touch passing by Jean Paul Aqui-Blanc and Allen setting up McIvor, who drove to King's right.  Signal Hill would have enjoyed the respite half-time brought after continued pressure led them to the break.

Signal Hill had the first attack of the second half, but St Anthony's seized control thereafter. In the 50th, Adrian Millette rocked the right post, then the diminutive Francois (A) squeezed through two defenders, but hesitated and lost the ball. Signal Hill did have their chances. Dareem Moore blasted wide from a dangerous play on the right, and Darren Trim should have given them their first goal, but he punted wide from 12 metres after a poor clearance by the Tigers defence.

Things got worse for the visitors. Shaquille McLetchie was sent off for a second bookable offence in the 70th, and St Anthony's took the opportunity to polish off their opponents with a third item in the 73rd. Again, Francois was involved, beating one, two, three defenders and towing them into the box before he was mowed down. The referee immediately pointed to the spot. Captain Allen stepped up to thump home, sending King the wrong way. The match was unofficially over.

The Tigers maintained the possession play, and could have added a fourth, but Francois' shot was too close to the goalkeeper. The real reward for St Anthony's, for all their dominance, is a place in Friday's Big Five final against the "Green Machine" of St Augustine.

Sancho arms St Augustine with self confidence.
By: Nicholas Clarke (T&T Guardian).

Reigning Secondary Schools Football League East Zone champions St Augustine Secondary were treated to a visit by former T&T defender Brent Sancho during a ceremony held in their honour at the Carib Brewery on Eastern Main Road, Champs Fleurs, yesterday.

Sponsored by Malta Carib, the defending Big Five champions have qualified for this year’s final and will play St Anthony’s on a date to be fixed. The team will go into the game boosted by Sancho’s motivational speech, during which he encouraged the players to use their success as a stepping stone to greater things.

Signal Hill tame Tigers
By Kern De Freitas

In 90 minutes of sweet irony, the Tobago double title-holders took revenge for a 3-0 whipping from the "Tigers" earlier in the season at the same venue.  St Anthony's took the lead after snatching the early momentum, but seemed to coast thereafter. Signal Hill took full advantage of that lapse and did some mauling of their own with two goals in either half to end their opponents' InterCol dreams.

The Tigers got out of the blocks quickly and could have had their first goal in just the fifth minute, but striker Garvin Samaroo tried to walk into goal and Jean Paul Aqui-Blanc forced King to tip the rebound overbar.

But the goal was not long in coming.

In the tenth minute, during another Tigers raid, Signal Hill goalkeeper Shaquille King cleared poorly from a close range Samaroo effort and McIvor collected from just outside the penalty area and buried his left-footed shot inside King's far post.  St Anthony's also kept King busy in the 18th, McIvor looping the ball just over the 'keeper's far vee, and Andel Francois headed just over from 18 metres.

But unlike their previous loss at the hands of St Anthony's in the SSFL "Big Five" semi-finals, Signal Hill played more possession football and kept it along the carpet, using the air ball sparingly.  Francois, who had troubled Signal Hill in that Big Five defeat, was kept under constant guard by at least two defenders.  In the space of two minutes, Signal Hill produced the shock that sent the Tigers reeling to a 2-1 deficit at the break.

First, in the 29th, came the equaliser, as an unmarked Dareem Moore headed home a perfect cross by Shaquille Joefield. Two minutes later they were in front as the Tigers defence fell asleep, giving Trim time and space to pick his spot and curl around Amoroso with his left boot.

It was the first time for the season St Anthony's had fallen behind and they just did not know how to claw their way back.

Not even in the second half were the North Zone champs allowed an easy minute. Signal Hill amped up the pressure with a goal from Trim in the 51st.  And after soaking up relentless pressure in a ten-minute spell, they struck again to kill off the Tigers' fight, as Jerimiah Bishop shot home from close up.

After defender Savion Kirton and substitute Thulani George missed from close range, Francois pulled a goal back for St Anthony's in the 87th as heavy darkness descended on the pitch. The lights eventually came on in stoppage time. It was a mere consolation goal, as Signal Hill grabbed the prize of an InterCol semi-final meeting with Arima North Secondary.

The wounded Tigers, meanwhile, will have to settle for a shot at the outstanding "Big Five" title in their almost perfect season.

One thing though....the Big Five Final eh play off yet??   ??? :-\
