Damn I didn't know her event was today. Is there a schedule with when our athletes are competing?

^^ His swim was a new national record :beermug:
Despite him not progressing to the semi final it was a good representation of the country in Rio.

Hard luck, youth. You came first, but not fast enough. A sport where seconds count. Congrats and all the best for the future.

So ... he might have made the semis had he been in a different heat or had a stronger swimmer in his?

* I have to post this, because I see SporTT posting about youth camps as if this is the answer to our problems*
T&T sporting authorities always amaze me with their lack of foresight. I will say something that has been said for years. So if I am a young boy or girl and I am watching the Olympics and I want to be future Olympian star swimmer for my country where do I go? How do I start? Is there any professional swimming clubs in Trinidad? Is there any serious programs? Every mid-yar school break we doing youth camps lol, youth camps are fun for children to keep out of trouble during school break. Instead I am talking about something serious to develop our talent and produce world beaters in sports like swimming, rowing, gymnastics, tennis. We need professional disciplined coaching which most likely will need to be hired from OUTSIDE Trinidad and Tobago, we need the proper facilities, we need financial investment from our businesses in T&T, which means the different sporting federations need to get off their backside and negotiate with sponsors. Ultimately we need 24 hour professionals who want to see T&T be successful as a country in different sporting disciplines at International events such as the Olympics.

Maybe you are right and he may have qualified with a stronger group; looks like he's got a bright future :beermug:

And so the torch is passed.

George Bovell third in his 50m freestyle heat and his time was not fast enough to qualify to the semis

I am reading some of the comments on social media in response to poor performances from most of our athletes at the Olympics.
All I would say is the T&T public is used to failures from our national athletes so they have been conditioned to commend failure. Athletes struggling to get out the preliminary stages and I see people commenting with "you did great" .."you made the country proud"..
Who to blame for this weakness in our national psyche?
