Football / Re: Messi, Drogba or Rooney
« on: May 04, 2010, 08:58:48 AM »
Even though Messi has been receiving an enormous amount of attention lately, Drogba would be my first choice.  I admire his drive and resilience, and I like how he helps out in defence.  The Ivorian is clearly my first choice; Messi would be a close second and Rooney would be third.  I don't profess to know all there is to know about the game and I was an average player at best; but my selection is built solely on the strength of my philosophy on how the game should be played.

Just over three years ago we were neck and neck with teams like Sweden.  I say we start with a director of football and start preparing for 2014, we could do it!!!

Football / Re: Yorke allows friendship to cost Warriors win.
« on: February 13, 2009, 06:22:47 AM »
We lost that game in the last 15 - 20 mins.  It wasn't Stern's miss that cost us the game; it was the fatigue and we did not properly protect the ball and our lead.  We had a 2 goal lead and we let it slip away!!!  It is possible that Yorke could have taken the penalty and missed, but the fact remains that we had a 2 goal lead and we allowed it to slip away.

Football / For the next match . . .
« on: February 11, 2009, 04:32:58 PM »
Moderators, for the next match let's have a post that would only contain locations where the game can be viewed.  We would still maintain our open forum to discuss anything match related but this one should be similar to the rules and guidelines setup, read only.

Interesting article - maybe that's why he took this job, he probably knew he would never be held accountable for what he does or fail to do.

Keith, let me start with an apology, I was not discounting your effort but rather bringing to the surface an issue that has bothered me for sometime.  My statement was not an attack on you but rather the nation as a whole for not adequately preserving the memories of one of the world's greatest.  And in all fairness to you, despite the constraints you still did a remarkable job.   I, and I do believe many on here share the same sentiment, consider myself fortunate to having witnessed the genius that is Russell Latapy - him coming on against Paraguay was my greatest memory.  However, after devoting his entire adult life to Trinidad and Trinidad football we have very little to show.  So much of this guy is lost that the next generation may be denied the privelege of seeing his mastery.  Keith I am not knocking your effort, I just believe collectively we need to put forth a better product.

This man has spent almost his entire life representing Trinidad and Tobago, yet the only footage we have is him in the latter half of his career.  What about the Tech days, the U16 tournament, Jamaica, Portugal, Bradford City trials . . . unacceptable!!!  If this is our greatest footballer we need tuh come better dan dat!!!

Football / Re: T&T vs El Salvador remark thread.
« on: June 08, 2007, 08:22:15 AM »
Sam, though your assessment of the game is correct and your ratings matched each players performance accurately you fail to mention what I believe to be the 2 main reasons why we lost yesterday's game -- bad goalkeeping and ball possession.  Jan Michael Williams, who I should add is Trinidad's no. 4, did an admirable job given the circumstances but it seems he chooses to punch the ball at every opportunity he gets (I first saw this in the Honduras highlights).  I am not a keeper but I felt he should have held on to that cross.  Instead, he chose to punch and it fell right into the path of a Salvadorian and that started what resulted in goal number 1.  Now granted he is still our No. 4 shot stopper, that goal, in my opinion, still (even after the ill advised punch) could have been avoided.  Had an attempt been made to stop the half volley instead of looking to the officials we could have gone into the half one up on El Salvador.   Second, there were far to many bad passes and I knew it was only a matter of time before El Salvador converted one of them into a goal.  I kinda was hoping that this would have happened after we scored our 3rd or 4th goal but the bottom line remains, we NEED/MUST to better protect the ball.

Leon Carpette is the tall guy in the middle, back row.  And Steve Khan (I believe, don't quote me on this one) is 3rd from left, front row.

Football / Re: Where did you stay during the WC and did you like Germany?
« on: September 26, 2006, 08:39:44 AM »
1.  8 days.
2.  Purchased tickets from the Trinidad and Tobago Football Federation.
3.  I stayed at the Wein Michel Darmstadt and I would give the hotel a rating of 7.5 out of 10.
4.  I handled all the logistics.
5.  Germany, with its picturesque landscape, is a beautiful place, I would definitely consider returning.  Apart from a couple instances cultural differences and unmet expectations, the Germans on the whole were excellent hosts.

Ah find nobody talking bout de 5 Shaka take against Guatemala.  Is Guatemala, we have no right taking 5 from dem!  Shaka may be fundamentally better than Jack, but Jack have the best reflexes among we 4 keepers.

I bias sorry, hands down here are some of the most outstanding Keepers to ever grace Intercol, Don Harry, Denzil Gustaf, Anthony Clark, Sean Edwards, Kent Parris, and Greg Mitchell.

Football / Re: Can you make money as a Pro league team onwer
« on: August 02, 2005, 12:54:15 PM »
The intent is to get established persons of the private sector/business community to own and operate teams.  Apart from the occasional sale of a player, there is not much money to be made.  Becoming a team-owner reduces ones taxable income thus making the lure of team ownership more attractive and appealing to those already active in the business community.
