Niceness! Just heard he was having some visa/work permit issues, but was expected to join up with the team on this trip. Apparently though things have not been going so well for the team since he signed. They are now down in 16th place in Bundesliga II and Frings is no longer the coach and the new coach is waiting to see what he has to offer. To his advantage, apparently he's 1 of 2 left footers in the entire squad. Hope things work out for him.

FIFA will not back this play as it would detract from the World Cup. I don't see this going anywhere.

Football / Re: Kevin Molino Thread.
« on: April 26, 2017, 08:04:59 AM »
Molino’s production far outweighed his salary. At $121,400 guaranteed, Molino was the 13th-highest paid player on the team, behind players like rookie Richie Laryea, right back Kevin Alston and center backs Seb Hines and Jose Aja.

Well now he making more than three times as much, with a base salary of $350,004.00 and total guaranteed compensation of $402,504.00

When you see the jump  you can almost justify the move to Minnesota, Orlando would have never given him that.

But they robbing Joevin, lawd $90,000.00 base and $96,166.67 total. Once he keeps his form good he won't be playing in Seattle next year at that compensation.

Not if he has a good agent.

Ah boy eh....not a single one of the "selected" Tobago players. And this is during the Easter Vacation.
Exactly the reason why these youth teams will never get my support. No Tobago players on a supposedly Trinidad and Tobago team. Then there will b a set of s**t players from abroad surfacing and getting chances

Quick somebody schedule a game vs a Tobago Invitational XI!

Football / Re: League of Nations Thread.

For this League of Nations to be worth the watch, there must be something to play for imo

As long as the money is on the table, anything goes. And as long as this L of N don't sideline the small nations. These bloody Euros want the WC to a be a Euro nations cup with a couple of outsiders. I don't trust them at all.

Well that is it. I feel UEFA did this to strengthen the teams in their confederation. The rest of the world is slowly catching up.

There are 41 teams in Concacaf. So 10 groups of 4 will probably be the format. I expect the top 10 ranked teams will lead the groups. So it might not be too bad for the smaller nations. But the big nations might not get the benefit. Some groups could look like this:
USA, Nicaragua, Guyana, BVI. If you're Nicaragua or Guyana, this wouldn't be too bad. However, for USA how does playing Guyana or BVI support their development? Who is going to tune in to watch USA play BVI for fun? We know what the scoreline will be by half time. .

Agreed. For more established nations like US and Mexico there is probably more to lose than to be gained. However, if/once EUFA get's it's nation's league in order, quality friendlies for these teams will be harder to come by. Alternatively, they could use the league as a means of developing talent that is on the fringes of the national team, thereby expanding the pool of players available for national duty.

We are probably in the middle. Sure the games against USA and Mexico will benefit us. However, the games against Haiti, Honduras and JA will bring just as much benefit.

I think a two tiered system will work best for Concacaf. Put the top 12 teams into one tier. Middle 12 teams in next tier. Then a development tier
...

I think something like this will be a better buy for the big USA's Mexicos and Ticos.

With promotion and relegation between the tiers. Liking this idea!!  :beermug:

Couldn't really tell you as I'm not in a position to know if it improved anyone or not. And from a team perspective there's no way to undo what you did and go back and play the same games to say one way or the other. Are you seriously insinuating though that option 1 is the better play? If you have another option, feel free to propose it. I'm all for the betterment of the team.

I'm NOT for spinnin top in mud...which is what we doing with these kinds of games

SH took a mainly local based team to play China, Peru, etc and take copious lixx.  Not that the China trip would have yielded any other results just based on travel time and lack of acclimatization

Saintfiet played Gold Cup qualifying games at home against Haiti & Suriname with a majority local based squad and ended up with zero points AT HOME

Maybe Lawrence is a miracle worker.  Daz what we seem to be hoping for.

At this point....we're f**ked.  It doh matter who we play.  The solution is a long term solution with NO HALF MEASURES.

Properly develop players at the youth level and ensure that facilities, coaching, support resources etc are of a professional standard.

The old adage is very true in this case.....

Fail to prepare (properly).  Prepare to (properly) fail.

I seem to remember Wim taking a all local squad to the finals of the Caribbean cup. Having players that were previously considered improperly developed and a waste of time playing good ball. But maybe I wrong. I didn't see the games and going on what was reported here.

Also, where is it written that this has to be zero sum game? Yes long term development is necessary, we've been asking for that for some time. And I count myself amongst the number that have been calling for it. But Dennis is faced with the reality of the hand that he's been dealt and is trying to do something about it in the short term to deal with the situation. The long term solution has to come from the federation and I don't see that what he is doing now is interfering with that.

I said earlier I prefer to call it a training exercise. As such the purpose is not necessarily to win. It is an attempt to acquaint the players with playing in particular system. An attempt at implementing a particular program. At some point yuh have to put them in a game situation to see who is getting it and can be relied upon to implement the system at a higher level and who is not ready or not ready yet. You might call it spinning top in mud because we lost the other games. But assuming your memory is better than mine of what happened in those other games, can you honestly say that there were no local players that were able to start pushing their way onto the national team as a result of those previous exercises?

I prefer to use the term "training exeercise" as opposed to make work project.

...
BTW......it is NOT Dennis Lawrence and his coaching staff's responsibility to refine our players.  Players should come to a senior national team already refined.  We know in too many cases, that's just not the case.

I agree with what you say here palos, but that leaves DL with two options:
1. Accept that the local based players are substandard and throw them in at the deep end, or
2. Try to do something to better prepare them before throwing them in at the deep end.

I prefer option 2.  :beermug:

And how has this option 2 worked for past coaching staff?

This is really funny. Allyuh remember a few years ago, JJ went on trial with the Italian Sirie A team( can't remember the name). But he did not make it. I remember a video of him playing in the practice games on the thread. He was lambasted for his lack of ambition. His lackadaisical manner. He timid. Pro league product eh good. But at 26, allyuh  think verdict still out on him?

Toronto FC didn't take him to and to be honest, they were right because at de time his confidence was low and he didn't show them his true ability, so you can blame them.

Joevin is a boss and his confidence is up he will improve even more. I find he still need to work consistently and he does tend to varnish for periods of his game.

Joevin was very shy to, nut now he coach in de MLS and Hart help him build that.

But all in all, de man is a baller.

They might have been right then but I'm sure they were kicking themselves after the MLS Cup final!  :beermug:

The verdict is still out because the problem wasn't lack of talent or lack of ability or lack of skill. Lack of confidence maybe. JJ has the ability to dominate a game if, and when, he decides to impose himself and that is what teams are noticing.

No matter how you look at it....playing Grenada in Grenada and say you preppin players to play against USA and Mexico away is ultimately a futile exercise

Unsure how this could be of any benefit to a team supposedly seeking to qualify for the Wold Cup 2018

I suppose the idea is to let the local-based come to terms with how Dennis wishes to play (movements etc.). Always easier to imprint these versus comparable opposition. The challenge is replicating it up the ladder. But, getting the imprint is fundamental.
I think so seeker, best yuh try to instill and excute yuh philosophy and plays to the locals against a Grenada, rather than straight out going and embarass your charges and youself against a Higher caliber team. If things work out and the plays are positive, yuh try it again against harder opposition. If they do not work, chances are you may still have a decent run and positive result with normal player abilities. But to go and try stuff out against say , Colombia, or Peru, and it not working, they might just never want to waste their time with us again.

I would think that once they can prove that they (TTSL) have complied with all of the requirements of the TTFA constitution then they could apply to the CAS (Court of Arbitration for Sport) for an injunction(or something so), if TTFA continues to block them.

And 2 assists. Arguably the best player on Minnesota. They can't do anything without him

Funny, just watch de MLS highlights package of the match. They show de goal, both assists and the miss on de breakaway chip attempt and in all of dat de announcer still manage to not call Molino name. SMH.

K J time will come
He has to make the most it when it materializes
He should be fresh and play with attitude
Man he has a lot to prove on the down side of his career
Otherwise this could be a very short stay

Maybe now is his chance. Hearing that Atlanta's main striker has been ruled out for 4-6 weeks due to injury.

Was the flag raise for Kenwyne perhaps?

Couldn't be. The pass was obviously intended for Joevin. Kenwyne had no part to play in that and should not have even been considered as he was not interfering in the play. I considered that last night and also if it might have been an issue at the time Joevin took the shot but at that point Kenwyne wasn't in the keepers line of sight so, again, should not have been considered to be interfering in the play.

Also that line makes the call look worse than it actually was. Still a bad call though.

that referee and his who crew got it so wrong yesterday. imagine the man brought down molino a blatant foul yet the idiot ref gave molino the yellow, Lawrence should protest that yellow. just when you thought there could not be anything worst than English referees who for the most part is rubbish.......these referees in concacaf gave me a whole new prospective on terrible officiating........the worst I have ever seen to be truthful.

We supposed to be the home team playing with the home advantage...from what I seen in these last 2 games with the officiating.... is like we were the "away" team... some real bad officiating all against TNT

Nah. We get way with a offside call on a Panama goal late in that game.

And Panama get away from a penalty..when homeboy push down Kenwyne in the box..right dey for everybody to see...A Mexican slide into Molino... and Molino gets the Yellow.....I mean we could go tit for tat..but TNT got the worst end of the calls period

Not trying to go tit for tat. Not counting. Just pointing out that the fact that Panama got a bad call renders your previous statement incorrect.
