                       Owen to chelsea

soccernet.com

Michael Owen will be moving to Chelsea in January, if reports across the British media are to be believed.

Owen: Will Scolari move for the Toon striker?

The 28-year-old Newcastle striker will move to West London for £5million, as Chelsea look to bring in some cut-price cover up front. Their number-one target, Sevilla's Luis Fabiano, is thought too expensive, at a prohibitive £25million - a sign that the credit crunch is biting even the deepest of pockets.

With Owen's contract set to run out next summer, the Stamford Bridge outfit hope they will be able to land their target on the cheap, although whether they will be keen to match his reported £120,000-a-week salary is another question.

And Chelsea might face competition from North London rivals Spurs, also thought to be interested in Owen, who consider the Newcastle man a cheaper alternative to another of their reported targets, White Hart Lane old boy Jermain Defoe.

Arshavin to Quit

Zenit St Petersburg playmaker Andrei Arshavin has reignited his transfer saga which dominated the headlines during the summer.

After a close season of on-off negotiations with Tottenham Hotspur, Arshavin eventually remained at Zenit after the two clubs failed to reach an agreement on a fee.

However, speaking after Zenit's 2-0 UEFA Champions League victory over BATE Borisov on Wednesday, Arshavin publicly demanded a transfer.

"Four months ago I told the president of the club that I didn't want to remain at the club any more," Arshavin told Sport Express.

"Everything depends on a single thing - whether Zenit will value me realistically. If that happens of course I will leave.

"[If it doesn't] I will be a Zenit player on paper only. I neither desire nor intend to play here next year."

Natural reaction
Arshavin denied that this was an ultimatum, stating simply that it was a 'natural reaction' to the uncertainty surrounding his transfer status.

The news could draw the attention of many clubs around Europe, not least Spurs, who conducted lengthy negotiations with Zenit over Arshavin this summer and have another Russian, Roman Pavlyuchenko, in the ranks.

Asked whether, in view of their precarious league position, Arshavin would consider a move to Spurs in January, the player was diplomatic.

"Naturally [if I was playing for Spurs] they would be challenging for the Champions League," he joked.

"Seriously, I cannot give an estimate because I am not in the team and, moreover, I haven't even seen how they are playing."

Zenit coach Dick Advocaat admitted in Friday's press conference that if the player wished to leave, the club should allow him to.

Meanwhile it was also announced that Advocaat had signed a new contract to coach the St Petersburg club until the end of 2009.

General Discussion / TRINI LOVE CIRCLE.......email
« on: April 10, 2008, 07:29:44 PM »
Subject: The 4 stages of Trini love... a must read!- ONE FOR TRINIS :)
To: undisclosed-recipients

STAGE 1 - BAZODEE - Pronounced Bah Zoh Deeeeeeeeee
The boy meets the girl and butterflies fill his stomach. Every touch is electric, every glance is dramatic, he lingers on her every word. The sun reflecting off the morning dew reminds him of the way her eyes twinkle when the moonlight catches her eye. The time away seems like an eternity and when he sees her nothing else matters. He calls everyday and flowers on every date, he even writes her name on the back of his work pass so she will always be close to his heart.

STAGE 2 - Tutoulbay - Pronounced Tut ool bey
The girl's boss complains that she takes to many personal calls on the company phone, so he buys her a cell phone and pays the bill too. He doesn't want her tainted and ogled by the miscreants on the Maxi Taxi so he decides to drop her to work and pick her up every day. This poses a dilemma because she works further than him. No Problem. He picks her up at home and gives her the car, so she drops him to work and keeps the car for the day. His friends don't exist anymore because she said that they are too crass and he drinks too much during the week ( Like me). He takes her shopping and holds the bags, he even sits on the benches in the middle of the mall while she has her Mani/ Pedi/ Hair day. Oh yes AMORE!!

STAGE 3 - Tabanca - Pronounced Tah Bank AhhhhhhhhSo one day while she's shopping in Pennywise and he is sitting outside in the car waiting, he notices that she left her phone (which he bought and still pays bills for) by the hand brakes. Curiosity wins, he picks it up, "New Message".... yuh boy cyah help it, he read the message. "Yesterday was great. Same time tomorrow. Your body is HOTT".....But what de Muddah #@$%??? Who de fokk texting my woman so? Cigarette light up one time. The vein on the forehead start to bulge. Leg shaking like dat. She returns from Pennywise and tries to hand him his Credit Card. "Who de fokk is Andre, where he see you yesterday and how de fokk he know yuh body hot??" she reels for a second..."Oh Andre.....am he is my trainer...at the gym and he was commenting on my progress, you know I go to the gym to look good for you baby".....yuh hear lie!!!....So yuh boy calm dong. Or so she thinks..Ah fellah call Cudjoe ( for you Trinis that don't know, Cudjoe is a Private Detective Agency, yes we have dat in Trinidad). Cudjoe follow she for a week and reports to Mr. Loverman. Sir she has been going to the gym, TO PICK UP ANDRE, and then they proceeded to Econo Guest House ( before Jo Sing Pasta in Kelly.... I Think LOL) they spent 2 hours and then she came to pick you up. WHAT DE MUDDAH #@$%!!!!! As she reach is cuss..."Yuh fokkin hoe, gimme meh damn phone, PASHAW (Trinidadian Onomatapia for the sound of something breaking) the phone hit the ground. Ah goh kill yuh Muddah #@%$, after all I do for you, dat is how u go repay me???." "but honey.." she attempts to speak. "Doh fokkin honey me, I know bout you and Andre and fokkin Econo Guest house".........she breaks down in tears "you were smothering me, I found comfort in Andre's arms, I need space"...."Space??" he fires back "is Muddah #@$% space yuh want?? Yuh is a fokkin astronaut??"....she begins to cry uncontrollably. Meanwhile the Rapid Response 999 vehicle noticed the commotion, one time they done assume he ress a cut ass on she. Of course she cyah stop cryin so she can't confirm or deny the allegation (conveniently). Is jail in he ass!!!

STAGE 4 - Foofooloomps - Pronounced Fou Fou Loumps
After a good cut ass from the police followed the next morning by sincere apologies for the "misunderstanding". He sits at home, call sick for work for two weeks. Radio is stuck on 97 ( Love Hurts by Nazereth is playing). The man doh answer no calls. He stop shaving and bathing is only on a have to must to basis. He tried calling her 4,345,876 times everyday to say he sorry and he want to make back up. She mother change the home number. Das it!!! He pick up the SHARP CD player and he gone. There he stands baring his soul playing "Baby Come Back - Vanessa Hudgens". The window cracks, his heart leaps, a shadow appears....it's Andre and he is informed that a restraining order was taken out and the police are on the way. Not wanting the same royal treatment from the cops, he exits stage left. He was last seen on Curepe Junction drinking a bottle of Bay Rum singing "Baby Come Back.......

Sven excited by Man City link with Ronaldinho

Manager Sven-Goran Eriksson admits he would love Manchester City owner Thaksin Shinawatra to buy Ronaldinho this summer following a tenuous link with the under-fire Barcelona striker.

The Brazil forward, currently out injured, could leave the Camp Nou in the summer and his brother and representative Roberto De Assis was entertained at the City of Manchester stadium on Saturday by club directors ahead of the 2-0 defeat by Chelsea.

'It was the first time I had heard such a thing, so I really hope it is true,' said Eriksson.

'We would be able to find a place in our team for him, I can guarantee that.

'I will phone the owners. It was a surprise, but if they want to package Ronaldinho for me I would accept him and be very happy.'

And Eriksson joked about signing another high-profile Brazilian when he added: 'I would be happy to take Kaka at the same time!'

Football / pro league musings from the the first day
« on: April 06, 2008, 10:07:57 AM »
ladies and gents morvant man and i went yesterday to the double header in the hasley crawfor satdium and i would just like to provide you with some musings that we came up with

1 this season mu pau will beat people. ron la has put together a very skillfull team from the carenage cocorite area and has cornell geln leading the attack he is still quick minded and deft in his touches just needs to bulid a team around him. the attackers also went for the spectacular and always tried to beat their man instead of passing off the ball

2 jabloteh looks nothing like the side from last season of note there was no marvin oliver even on the bench and the team for once looks like they can be roughed up by the likes of defence force and petrotrin " big body sides" elijah manners and left back noel williams were exceptional in the team and byers will always be a force

3 st anns rangers looks really impressive after holding cali to a 3 all draw carlon murray devon modeste a fellar called "fatboy" the #8 were the pick of the crowd. the 21 in the back was the worst thing in boots

4 calidonia looked real clever but just needs to check the left back position. the new #10 looks kinda like velox but i dont think its him has speed touches and ability for days, if he is the guyanese guyana go beat people for sure. tinto abdullah phillip and the striker were the pick of the bunch

5 alot of the teams were with noticible abscences no sheldon emmanuel no marvin oliver no primus no khaleem no theobald all the teams last night looked like the season started too soon

6 we spoke to a scots man here on a 5 year construction contract who coached for 30yrs 3rd devision and wants to work with calidonia for free cuz he likes inverness calidonian thistle back home. has links with gretna and inverness but only wants youngsters . was impressed with tinto but says at 22 he already past it!!

7 the spanner is still the beat of choice for most proleague attackers.
