Football / I'll bet money W Conection will win the 2014/15 title.

I'll bet money W Conection will win the 2014/15 title.

If they win today they will cut Central lead by 3 points and a game in hand.

Central will lose at North East Stars and Point Fortin.

W Connection also have a goal advantage and they are an experience team with supporting staffs.

Central have themselves to blame. The lost to Army and Jabloteh last night will haunt them.

I was sad to see Winchester red carded last night.

But when you have the opportunity to finish teams and you dont, you end up paying the prize.

I don't normally back teams with a lot of foreign players like W Connection, but in this case Central messed up.

Tasha St. Louis signs with Sunnana SK.
By: Heather MacKenzie (mlfsports.com).

Winston-Salem, North Carolina, January 22nd, 2009 - Tasha St. Louis has signed a contract with Sunnana SK in the Sweden Women’s premier division (Damallsvenskan).  St. Louis is expected to report to the club by March 15th.  Sunnana SK, located in Skelleftea, is the northernmost team in the Damallsvenskan.  Established in 1939, the club has won two championship gold medals.  The current squad has two foreign players and is currently tenth in the league table.  The team colors are blue and white.

This will be St. Louis’ first European contract.  She played in the United States Women’s Pro League in 2004 with the New Jersey Wildcats.  She is better known, however, in her home country.  She was T&T’s 2002 Woman Footballer of the Year and the Caribbean Football Union MVP of Gold Cup Qualifiers.  St. Louis has played with the Senior National Team since 2000.  "I'm real excited to play in Sweden and get to see the scene in European football. I was able to train in the cold and snow when I was there last month so I am prepared for the conditions,” she said.

Heather MacKenzie of MLF Sports in the U.S. said, "The women's league in Sweden is top rate. Tasha will be exposed to some of the best women players as well as some of the best coaches. I am thrilled to have this result with the first woman player that I have ever worked with. Tasha will represent Trinidad and Tobago proudly and hopefully make an impact on the team and the league."

MLF Sports will continue to update St. Louis’ development throughout her first season with Sunnana SK.  For additional information on Tasha St. Louis or MLF Sports, contact Anjani Salonen or visit www.mlfsports.com.

General Discussion / $120M for Carnival and nothing for sports.

T&T is a jokie country run by clowns...

$120M for Carnival.
By SEAN DOUGLAS (Newsday).

The sum of $120 million is being given to the National Carnival Commission (NCC) to run Carnival 2009, Minister of Culture, Marlene Mc Donald, announced at yesterday’s post-Cabinet news conference at the Office of the Prime Minister.

As a result, the Minister said she does not expect the national fete to be affected by the global economic slowdown.

“It is noteworthy,” she declared, “ that in the 2009 Budget, the sum of $120,680,858 has been provided for the National Carnival Commission. This sum includes provisions for the three Carnival interest-groups — Pan Trinbago, the National Carnival Bandleaders Association, and the Trinbago Unified Calypsonians Organisation.”

The minister said the NCC Board has started its Carnival preparations in order to have all construction work completed by the first pre-Carnival event.

“The primary concern at the start of this exercise each year is the need for extreme vigilance to ensure the financial viability of the Commission. In light of the present economic circumstances, the Board has reviewed, and is currently making adjustments, to its budget for the fiscal year 2008/2009,” she declared.

However Mc Donald had not detected any cutting back in people’s planned activities that would require her to scale-down Carnival 2009. Asked if the global slowdown would make her cut the Carnival budget, or the available seating at Carnival events, she responded with a blunt “no.” “From where I sit, I have been advised that the sales of Carnival costumes is going quite well. The travel is as usual, as 2008. So, at this point in time, there is no reason for alarm, with respect to whether we are going to sell our seats and what-not over the Carnival period.”

Mc Donald said her Ministry is planning to increase seating-accommodation at the Paddock in the Queen’s Park Savannah from last year’s figure of 3,500 up to 5,000 persons now, which would almost equal the 5,500 combined total of the former Grandstand and North Stand. She added that for the Panorama semi-finals the NCC Board is also considering further accommodation at the northern “Greens”, plus a picnic area that includes speakers, television screens and “cool down” zones. Mc Donald confirmed that the finals of Panorama, Parade of Bands and Dimanche Gras will take place at the Savannah. She said there are 39 events on her Ministry’s Carnival calendar.

Football / Harvey Yorke !

I heard Dwight Yorke isn't a good daddy and neglets his son. ? I hope I heard wrong...... feel free to correct me...

Peter (Katie new hobbie): Yes, it is the most amazing feeling I think you would ever feel. I have to say about Dwight Yorke (Harvey's father). He's been out and about in London clubs lately. I do not understand that man at all. I couldn't understand before and I can't even more now that I'm a dad. I'm devastated for Harvey. How could you ever not want to be part of your child's life? I don't get it. It's killed me. But my love for Harvey is so strong.

Football / USA amazes me.
« on: June 22, 2007, 05:26:14 PM »
USA will be a big force if they continue to enter all competitions with full or mostly a local team. The Gold Cup and now Copa America. When T&T start doing this we will reap benefits. It might be impossible as most of our players eventually go abroad, but if we improve the league we will have this option, forget size of country. Becasue there is many big countries who do not even do this. Its like USA have a; A, B & C team. They used 2 different teams at the Gold Cup and still winning. They not even properly gelled as you can see and they are very beatable right now, but they preparing well for the future. Bob Bradly is a serious fella, who still admires Cornell Glen... ;)

I will bet they NOT coming last in the Copa America and if the win the Gold Cup they will be in the Confederation's Cup, more top competitions. They continue to play in top tournaments. It is not impossible for T&T to play more games, but we have to restructure the TTFF first. If we play 2 friendly games per-month I am sure we would get better even with a local team. The local players will step up once they get the correct exposure. Not because they level poor we will keep them down. The USA give they local players more respect. Our coach must improve our players and league to be successful.

We can sit here and bad talk the US all we want. But like it or not, USA a NONE football (Soccer) nation will be tops one day. They will prove everyone worng, they may not get the respect and that is one of the reasons why they will be successful.

In CONCACAF they already start exporting the most players to top leagues, more than any other CONCACAF countries.

U.S. calls on MLS for Copa America.
By Ben Masur / MLSnet.com Staff .

Fifteen players from 10 different MLS teams are among the 22 players named to the U.S. men's national team's 2007 Copa America roster on Friday. With the other seven slots filled by European-based players, the U.S. team, coached by Bob Bradley, will look to dethrone 2004 champion Brazil in this year's South American national team championship that runs from June 26-July 15 in nine cities across Venezuela.
Chivas USA, who sit in third place in the Western Conference with 17 points, contribute the largerst MLS contingent with three, each having no more than three years experience in the league. Jonathan Bornstein, the MLS rookie of the year in 2006, will be joined by 2005 first round SuperDraft pick Brad Guzan and Sacha Kljestan.
Three other MLS teams - the Colorado Rapids, Kansas City Wizards and D.C. United - will each send a pair to the tournament. Representing the Rapids on the U.S. team will be midfielder Kyle Beckerman, who is in seventh season in MLS, and forward Herculez Gomez, who is making his first international appearance.
D.C. will send reigning MLS defender of the year Bobby Boswell along with midfielder Ben Olsen, who has six goals in 34 international appearances. Forward Eddie Johnson, who is tied for the MLS lead in goals with nine, and eight-year MLS veteran defender Jimmy Conrad will represent the Wizards, providing experience at the front and back.
Taylor Twellman will supply additional support at the front as the New England Revolution forward has seven goals in 10 games this season and six goals in 24 international appearances.
Ricardo Clark and Eddie Gaven will patrol the midfield and are the sole representatives from Houston Dynamo and the Columbus Crew, respectively. Rounding out the U.S.-based group is midfielder Justin Mapp of the Chicago Fire, defender Drew Moor of FC Dallas and defender Marvell Wynne of Toronto FC. For Moor and Wynne, it is their first international appearances with the U.S. senior team.
The European players on the roster are highlighted by 'keeper Kasey Keller, who has 100 international appearances, more than double anyone else on the U.S. team. Defender Dan Califf has one goal in 14 appearances, while the rest of the group includes Charlie Davies, Jay DeMerit, Benny Feilhaber and Lee Nguyen.
Along with Mexico, a special invitee to the tournament, the U.S. will open the 2007 Copa America on June 28 against 2004 runner-up Argentina. The Americans will follow that match four days later when they take on Paraguay, concluding play in the group stage on July 5 against Colombia.

Football / Leo Roget !!!
« on: February 22, 2006, 06:03:43 PM »
I believe Leo Roget and Kevin Austin should have been called to face Iceland, we are weak in defence and should look to strengthen our defense. We have no big defenders abroad and we cannot overlook possible decent players who might be able to help...

Left footers:
Evans Wise, Leslie Fitzpartick, Kevin Austin, Nigel Daniel, Derek Phillips, Jonathan Westmaas, Glenton Wolfe, Gorien Highley, Gary Glasgow and Jason Norville.

We have the whole month of March and April free why not call up some of these players for training.

Jason Norville, John Murphy, Leo Roget, Kevin Austin, Evans Wise, Gary Glasgow, Malcolm Granado, Kerry Noray, Jonathan Westmaas, Glenton Wolfe, Josh Johnson, Keyeno Thomas, Joel Bailey, Quanvas Kirk, Kwame Wiltshire, Brent Rahim, Jason Marcano, Conrad Smith, Kevin Nelson, Michael Celestine, Andre Boucaud, Arnold Dwarika, Anton Pierre, Kerry Baptiste, Nigel Daniel, Derek Phillips, Keon Daniel and Richard Goddard.

Wouldn't the European league be on break ?

Whats the deal with Nkosi Blackman ? did he sign in Brazil yet... or we have to wait another year to get an update from the TTFF press... ?
