"My uncle is from Trinidad, so, ever since I was 7, I grew up listening to Soca, the genre that's from there. It's my favorite sound. So, we put a band together and we would play Soca … and then I would go up and play my little pop songs (laughs). It was fun!"

So, I have a lot of different genres, and then my uncle is Trinidadian. He came into our family when I was seven. From seven years old, I’ve been studying soca and calypso and reggae. So with that, with the disco, with the old-school, with the pop — I think that’s what you got right now.

Fifa and Uefa have lost an appeal against a European ruling that the World Cup and Euro Championships should be shown on free-to-air TV in the UK.

In 2011, the European General Court said the UK could keep the events on a list of "protected" events of national sporting interest broadcast for free.

It means the two tournaments cannot be sold exclusively to pay-TV firms.

Fifa and Uefa had appealed, after saying they could not sell the events fairly for their real value.

But the European Court of Justice - Europe's Supreme Court - has now said the original decision in the General Court (formerly Court of First Instance) in 2011 was correct.

A well-known Hong Kong billionaire has offered $65m (£40m) to any man able to woo and marry his lesbian daughter.

Property and shipping tycoon Cecil Chao publicly promised the "marriage bounty" after reports emerged that his daughter had wed her long-term girlfriend.

Mr Chao, who has never married himself, told the BBC his daughter was still single and needed a "good husband".

Same-sex unions are not recognised in Hong Kong, although homosexuality was decriminalised in 1991.

It is certainly a bold claim. As the music starts playing on the advertisement for the 18 Again cream, a sari-clad woman is singing and dancing."

Jokes / Liverpool Girls
« on: July 18, 2012, 02:23:43 PM »
not sure why the stereotype but this is kicks.

A Liverpool girl goes to the welfare office to register for child benefit. "How many children?" asks the welfare officer.

"Ten" replies the Liverpool girl. "Ten?" says the welfare worker. "What are their names?" "Nathan, Nathan, Nathan, Nathan, Nathan, Nathan, Nathan, Nathan, Nathan and Nathan". "Doesn't that get confusing?".

"Naah..." says the Liverpool girl, "It's great because if they are out playing in the street, I just have to shout 'Nathan yer dinner's ready!' or 'Nathan go to bed now!' and they all do it". >"What if you want to speak to one individually?" says the curious welfare worker. "That's easy," says the Liverpool girl... "I just use their surnames".

A Liverpool girl enters an adult shop and asks for a vibrator. The man says: "Choose one from our range on the wall." She says "I'll take that red one". The man replies: "That's a fire extinguisher".

Q. What do you call a 27 year old Liverpool girl?
A. Granny.

Q. What does a Liverpool girl use as protection during sex?
A. A bus shelter.

Q. There are two Liverpool girls in a car without any music - who is driving?
A. The policeman.

Q. What's the most confusing day in Liverpool ?
A. Father's day.

Q. How do people know Jesus wasn't born in Liverpool ?
A. You try finding 3 wise men and a virgin there!

serious talk Jeffrey????

who capable?

BUDAPEST, Hungary (AP) New CONCACAF President Jeffrey Webb says a team from his soccer confederation should win the 2026 World Cup.

Webb made the declaration Wednesday after he was elected to lead 40 soccer nations of North and Central America and the Caribbean. The Cayman Islands banker was the only candidate to succeed disgraced former FIFA vice president Jack Warner. He resigned last June to avoid an investigation of a bribery scandal.

Webb told his members: ''The 2026 World Cup belongs to CONCACAF.''
FIFA President Sepp Blatter hailed Webb's election to the post, saying: ''The credibility of CONCACAF is back.''

One year ago, Webb's home country was one of four whistle-blowers on allegations of bribery, involving a longtime Caribbean strongman, Warner and Qatar's Mohamed bin Hammam, who attempted to run against Blatter.

watch Eccleston get release now.

LIVERPOOL, England (AP)—Liverpool is investigating striker Nathan Eccleston for tweets about the Sept. 11 attacks.

The 20-year-old Eccleston posted the comments on Twitter on Sunday, the 10th anniversary of the attacks in the United States.

“I aint going to say attack don’t let the media make u believe that was terrorist that did it,” Eccleston tweeted.

He also made a reference to O.T.I.S., which can mean Only the Illuminati Succeed. The comments were later removed, but have been widely repeated online.

Liverpool’s principal owner is John Henry, whose Fenway Sports Group also owns the Boston Red Sox.

“The club takes this extremely seriously,” Liverpool said. “Senior club officials have informed Nathan Eccleston that we are undertaking an investigation into the circumstances surrounding these postings and will decide on an appropriate course of action pending that inquiry.”

Eccleston has yet to play for the first team this season. He made his first-team debut in a League Cup match against Arsenal in October 2009.

QANTAS apologised yesterday for a publicity stunt on Twitter that backfired. The airline had awarded free tickets to the Bledisloe Cup on Saturday night to two Brisbane men who ''blacked up'' to impersonate their favourite rugby player.

The airline removed a photo running on its Twitter page yesterday of the two men dressed - and with painted faces - to look like Wallabies rugby star Radike Samo. Qantas awarded the $378 platinum tickets to the two men last week.

To win, competitors had to tell Qantas via Twitter how they intended to show their support for the Wallabies at the match. Charles Butler, from his twitter account pek_anan, promised to ''dress as Radike Samo. Complete with Afro Wig, Aus rugby kit and facepaint''.[/img]

Football / Pele coming out of retirement?
« on: August 03, 2011, 01:29:08 PM »
At 70 years old, Pele is making a return to the pitch for a meaningful competition.

And this is not a joke.

The Brazil legend could be back playing for Santos at the Club World Cup as the team's marketing executive Armeio Neto refused to rule out the intriguing scenario despite suggestions out of Brazil that it's not going to happen.

Folha de Sao Paulo reports the club's ambition would be to see the former striker return to action in a potential final against Spanish giants Barcelona.

"I don't doubt anything," Neto said. "It also depends on the coach. If Pele is a boost to the team then why not?"

Neto believes having Lionel Messi and Pele on the same pitch as opponents would generate great financial interest in the event to be held in Japan. But Santos president Luis Alvaro Ribeiro has left the final decision to coach Muricy Ramalho.

"We still need to see what happens with the coach as it's his decision," said Ribeiro. "Of course, even though Pele trains, he would not be able to play for a long time, but one can imagine him coming on at the end of the game to take a penalty."

Pele has reportedly already started training so he can be fit in time for the tournament in December.
