Bordered by 8th and 9th streets and 6th and 7th avenues, officially belonging to St. George's College, yes, in Barataria.  Bucther's sports Plex is opposite

Cale used to play their home games on George's grounds back in the day, but that isn't exactly a stadium, just grounds with some bleachers.  Growing up was fun, walk a few blocks to take in Cale and a few more to take in BBP  :beermug:

Knee jerk culture, no plan for sustainable and long term development, none.  Target great GC showing and then what?  Sorry, we will cross that bridge when we reach it, time for beers   :frustrated:

Now see Fudadin and Kirk Edwards put on 250+ for the 2nd wicket vs SL A.  Can't tell you the last time any WI side put on so much for any wicket

Barath and Simmons didi for WI Board 11 vs. England a couple years ago. Both scored around 270 odd.

VB

True, forgot about that, how they have both fallen off.  Simmo scored 200+, Barath scored 100+

Yeah, had forgotten his name, thanks

JC I hear your reasons for wanting to believe this story but the 280 horsepower thing is far fetched, plus what's more questionable is how come we're just hearing about this man after all these tests and studies by doctors. The fact that his dad was 840HP was even more ridiculous. He might of gotten a bligh for brushing 15 times a day though ;D

If again, plenty bligh

Nice pts preacher and this is where, as they say, they say the plot thickens.  Documentarie like "who killed the electric car" and films like "the constant gardener" reveal what you are speaking about.  So yes, you are right, it does happen where human exploitation renders some diseases "uncurable" and so on.  It's a mix though, my 15 years experience in relevant industries (including solar) from a technology standpt reveals just that, hence the pts I was making.  My expertise does not extend to the cancer domain so can't answer that, but that too is a valid pt.  Wasn't trying to give you homewpork but I do think just given technical experience there is some mix here perhaps with some industries being more exploitive than others

Now actually just come from dey, moms wanted a shrimp roti  ;D  Some months ago a chinese man in the line in front of meh wid he wife.  Dey talkin in their language quick quick and pointing at different tings.  He look round and ask meh, what's that, and keep askin fuh everything he and he wife was pointing to and order one of each.  Afterwards he say, I am new to the neighbourhood but love the food.  two ah dem buy food ah swear fuh about a 2 weeks

No real point to get 100%.  I get the philosophical approach to free market and big business.  My point if any, is that there are plenty things that can enhance the life and well being of people but it get's shelved.  You post suggest that there is some balanced equation that fairly determines what comes to market.  Nothing can be future from the truth in that regard.  As the post suggests, the ingenious of the human race can solve many of our problems, sadly that is hindered mostly by the bottom line.

The point I raise about politics throws a monkey wrench into the whole balanced approach, so I suppose we may be saying something similar (like my electric car example which is a political example).  I think the takeaway from your message though (in an open debate) is your 2nd highlighted bold phrase.  That I think is very far from the truth, I would challenge you to name 10 examples of viable inventions that did not make it to market solely b/c of the bottom line in the last say 50 years.  The exact opposite of that exists easily within the last 100+ years -- the industrial and information ages are littered w/inventions that we leverage daily for life advancement and improvement.

After posting this I recalled an easy recent counter example into which billions has been invested w/o profit to date, b/c of the benefits and that is photovoltaics.  Gov'ts across Asia, Europpe and to a lesser extent US (CA, NJ) have offered subsidies to companies over the past 10 years as they attempted to make profit in an industry where the price per watt still does not compare to fossil fuels and hence makes it economically unviable.  Now I am supporter of this whole endeavor from both the human benefit and economic sides, but it points completely in the opposite to your suggestion.  In the long term I think this technology will become mainstream and a more balanced mix w/fossil fuels will be seen, just wanted to point out...

Don't quite get your point, most inventions targeting the regular consumer (B2C) are low in margin, profit comes about through huge turnover; only enterprises in the B2B space deal w/huge margins.

At the end of the day, yes, many inventions don't make it to commercialization for a number reasons, some b/c they are ahead of their time, others b/c of the economics model, and yet others b/c of politics or some combo.  Any invention that improves the value prop for the end consumer, makes sound economic sense for the provider and consumer and "fits" into the political landscape of the day (think electric cars) usually wins.
