U might have to put " The Jack Warner FOOTBALL Thread" cause the amount of hats (or jackets in this case) he wears, we might have all kinda discussion on this thread from the lamborghini his son import, to the tunnel he building to make Emerald Plaza "just 5 minutes from the beach", to the plots to get rid of Kamla quietly...all kinda thing will pop up here.

Yuh forget the millions he spent on the elections campaign dat he HAVE to get back somehow (can you say bobol projects?)

"...tata (?) player."   :rotfl:

Boy Kev, you're a proper Trini football fan now oui.

Now you just need to include phrases like these in your footie conversations:

dat shit side

(player X) is a goat

(player X) is a shit snake

...he hit de man ah spanner

riding pine (being left on the bench)

corbeaux sweat (pronounced 'co-bo'.... being brought on as a substitution for the last 10 mins of a match)

Your induction will now be complete.  ;D

RTG, that cheered me up,

I will try, but the problem is it might just be full of those phrases and nothing else given who I support.

not so sure what this is ...he hit de man ah spanner (taken someone out?)

A spanner is a tricky football move, like saying a player got 'sex' (ball pass thru the legs by oncoming striker)

There is  also 'wrong address' (send the oncoming tackling player in the wrong direction before zooming past them)

I would just like to see how many goals Bent scores now that Jones has gone.   ;)

Maybe Jones will turn out to be like Bent, in that he couldn't get a look in at Tottenham but went to Sunderland and blossomed. Let's hope Jones does the same, now that he's not under a clueless f@ck (Bruce)who doesn't want him in the squad.

That makes it how many Trini players this @ss has f@cked up now? 3, 4....?  >:(

Steups! Look, these Ho's does real get on my nerves yuh know. I doh know what it is. It is actually the top aspiration of young girls here to be a WAG. From all 14/15 they in the tanning salon, getting hair extensions, trying to be lookalikes to whoever their favourite WAG is. And all their time is spent trying to get into night clubs and places where they know footballers go. Pathetic.

I have gone out with some footballers, and you just cannot describe it. The term feeding frenzy comes to mind. Bold faced aggressive attempts to "pull" a footballer. All yuh have to do is let it be known, footballers hanging out over there, and they reach. Arms and boobs all over ah man front, rubbing up on man while they saying "Hi" to them, conveniently letting a boob slip out, raising up dey skirt while they dancing while watching their intended victim seductively. And yuh could see none of these chicks older than 21. I does just watch dem and shake my head.

As a woman ah sorry to say this, but anytime I hear any kind of assault allegation against a footballer I have one of two opinions. Either she damn well lie, or she look for it. Either way, they looking to sell their story to the newspapers.

My only questions is, why won't these footballers learn? Stay away from these Ho's!

RTG,

de sisters just trying to get ahead in life. u cyah hate on dem 4 dat.

anyhow, suppose u playing in league 1 or 2? or d conference? they still willing to give it up?

a english partner tell me dem girl eh want no footballer playing below the championship.

so if u get relegated, the cyat bonus gone?

Steups! Look, doh make me sick. If yuh want to get ahead in life, get ah education or some kinda skills AND WORK FOR A LIVING like everybody else.

De majority of these girls leave school with not one O'Level pass. And refuse to work. You have to understand the culture here, the benefits culture, the money and nice ting for nothing culture. Everybody wanna be a WAG, wanna be Victoria Beckham. And they willing to do whatever it takes. Half de time you see a rape allegation story it's because they get bull and thought right, dis is it, ah set now. Only to realise it was a hit and run, so dey vex. Out comes de rape story so they could sell the story to the newspapers. It doesn't matter what they get in the papers or TV for, popularity of any kind means you're now a celebrity and could get in to clubs and make money from now on. As I said, pathetic.

And yuh see dat nothing under the Championship talk, tell dat to Sancho, he was in League One and dem Ho's wouldn't let him breathe.  :rotfl:

De first things clubs should do when they bring in a foreign footballer is have him attend a course, on how to stay away from these british Ho's.

Hmmm, I have been watching this drama unfold with interest. As far as I know, KJ is happy where he is. He has ambitions like anybody else, but he is smart enough to know what is best in the long run.

As for London life, KJ comes down to London and party when he feels to. When Sunderland play in London he may or may not take the opportunity to stay over that night and hang out. His family is happy and settled, and friends often go up to the north east to hang out.

I usually get the 'tory long before the media break de news. lol And so far, there hasn't been a word on this. Just amusement at the interest and media hype, and maybe a bit of growing annoyance. lol

Kenwyne says he's in the squad for tomorrow. Yay! :wavetowel:

stop your celebration, leave Blanka on the bench and let him get back his match fitness with at least 3-4 more reserve games and then he will be closer to ready, we need him sharp for the hex

I didn't say he was playing tomorrow. I said he was named in the squad, which in effect means he is recovered as far as the physios are concerned.  Doesn't mean he's ready to play any great amount. Recovery and fitness are two different things. But it means progress. That's what the celebration is for.

Great win fellas. To finally beat the US is like a dream come true.

My Man-of-the-Match: Chris Birchall aka J Cloth. He played with great tenacity and the tackles he was putting down in the midfield was biting. The man run up and down all night and really drove up the field with the ball when he had possession. I see someone call him our Genaro Gattuso - he's Gatusso who could buss bullets. He and Yorke made sure we won the battle in the midfield tonight. Them boys work real hard in the trenches

Carlos had a very good game also. His energy was there again (as it was in the precious matches). What was improved though was his control and 'touches'. He was more creative, and after starting off a bit hesitantly, took on his man and played some good balls - none better than the cross to Latapy.

But Birchall take win. Somebody on the forum for the Guatemala game say once Birchall could walk he should be on this team. I agree. Birchall could play for my team any day so Anton and Coventry City allyuh could put allyuh tail between allyuh leg

Birchall is we Gattuso.  De man play like ah bulldog that just get loose.  His passing into the open channels on the counter was lethal, and he really pressed the issue.  Ah hope men could see what it means to wear the national jersey: blood, sweat, and tears.

Fuh real eh, geez, dat is energy and imagine is w/o yam and dasheen

General Discussion / Re: Who is de most WORLD FAMOUS Trinbagonian?
« on: October 03, 2008, 08:14:05 AM »
Though not related to sport, the most world famous Trini is Sir Trevor Mc Donald. The only problem is he is not KNOWN as a Trini, but as a Brit. But when it comes to world news, interviews with the world's most powerful and so on, his face and reputation is well known.

Sport related however, it has to be Dwight Yorke.

From my travels anyway. The only place I've ever been where people did not know of Trinidad and Tobago was Egypt. But they all knew Jamaica and Bob Marley. Go figure.

I'm glad you mentioned this...there are some trinbagonians who think our country is not known around the world, and i still dont understand why...everywhere I've travel people knew about T&T..When I said to them " I'm from Trinidad and Tobago" the first response I get is a reference to our Carnival, or our Soca Warriors playing at the past WC..in cricketing countries Brian Lara is the first name that come out their mouth when I told them where I'm from...

Same here meh boy. I once went to an international speed dating event, and there was this Swedish guy who was very quiet and made me wonder how good his english was. UNTIL Imentioned where I was from, de man start to wax lyrical bout we petroleum industry, and quote stats and thing. It goes without saying that he is a petroleum engineer....lol

But generally, people know the name of th ecountry. Where it is, what the culture is and so forth, that is debatable. But I agree with most on here, on face or name recognition it's either Dwight Yorke or Brian Lara as the most recognisable Trinis on the planet. Stokely Carmichael is viewed by many, even in biographies on the internet as American. V.S. Naipaul only known to academic types. Sir Trevor Mc Donald only known to those who take an interest in news and world events.

This campaign is the worst I see T&T play in awhile. Whenever I can get to see the game that is. I do believe I see livlier football in de SSFL. You would not believe that so many professionals in this team. We need to bring back Beenie, plain talk. Pacho eh cutting it. He STILL experimenting and trying out this late into the campaign. The team lacks cohesion not to mention good passing. And most of all where is that defense that Beenie instilled? It is always our weakness. Oh gosh man Jackula, replace dis man quick! I planning to go SA yuh know! >:(
