"Birdie" is his nickname but absolute class. Very impressive.

He is David Muhammed son and he was on the National U17 scene but I don't know him personally so I don't know if he's still on the squad or whatever

He and the keeper from Fatima "Baygo" are the 2 top class keepers in North Zone this year

I wud go wit Birdie 2 an he iz still on d u-17 squad

Football / Re: Maradona puts 'second-best' Pele in his place
« on: August 30, 2009, 08:51:59 AM »
...Something could be said about the allegedly "limited supporting cast ..."

yeah... like is a load ah shit?

82 team:

Valdano
Kempes
Bertoni
Olarticoechea
Passarella
Pumpido
Tarantini

86 team:

Sergio Batista
Burruchaga
Valdano
Passarella
Giusti
Olarti...
Ruggeri
Pumpido

90 team (arguably the weakest of the three teams)

Ruggeri
Sergio Batista
Olarti...
Monzon
Giusti
Goycochea (after Pumpido broke his leg)
Claudio Caniggia

... something could also be said about the imaginary war that was taking place when Argentina played England in Mexico.

Bakes, you is a rel propaganda man tho...FIRST of all, YOU start with this Pele had less of a supporting cast thing, which as far as I am concerned is a bigger load of shit than anybody who said argentina's WC team were weak...

When I pointed out to you that Pele was surrounded by quality players..particularly in 1970, you side step and point out technicalties in my post and ignore the facts that prove THAT you talking rel shit saying those Brazil teams were weaker than any of the Argentina teams Maradona played on...

In 1958, Pele was a bit player who started on the bench at first then became more influential as the tournament went own but he did NOT carry Brazil to the title...FACT.

In 1962..he was injured early, GARRINCHA carried Brazil to the title. FACT.

In 1966..they lost...FACT.

In 1970..the Brazil team was considered one of greatest attacking units ever assembled..

Pele really had a weaker supporting cast than Maradona?

It doh help that a great number of men you listed in the SO-CALLED great Maradona supporting cast are defenders and goalkeepers...

But as i said earlier..THERE IS NO WAY TO TELL WHICH IS THE GREATEST..everything is objective..they are two great players from two different eras...we should leave it at that..

the greatest argument is a waste of time..

and Socafan...i hope is a arrow post you was attempting there..cuz you talk a large level of folly..let me guess Trinidad best product then is Evans Wise?
Bit player? He waz 17, Wat odda player u kno cud win d world cup and start to mark his influence on d Brazil national team at 17.

Black Cats land Campbell
Skysports.com

United striker completes North East switch

Sunderland have completed the signing of Fraizer Campbell from Manchester United on a four-year contract.

The England Under 21 international underwent a medical at the Stadium of Light on Saturday morning before putting pen-to-paper on a long-term deal.

United will receive an initial £3.5million fee, which could rise to a maximum of £6million should various criteria be met.

Earlier in the summer it had looked as though Campbell has on his way to Hull City - with whom he helped gain promotion to the Premier League the season before last - but he has instead opted for a move to the Black Cats.

Campbell spent last season on-loan at Tottenham, whom he moved to as part of the deal that took Dimitar Berbatov to United, but struggled for playing time.

Having made just nine starts during his White Hart Lane sojourn, Campbell will be hoping for substantially more playing time under Steve Bruce at Sunderland.

Campbell's impressive displays at the European U21 Championship caught the eye and he will aim for more of the same next term.

Ah feel Sunderland is Manu's C team.

The size of the population is just half of the equation. Countries with a large population and that are considered footballing nations will always dominate non footballing nations with huge populations sich as the USA China and Russia and the footballing nations with the smaller populations should be on the same level with the non footballing nations with huge populations such as Trinidad and that is why i think that we are still enormously underachieving.

Football / Re: Thread for the 2009 Gold Cup Games.

Just finish watchin d game, de score should have been 8-0. Even doh is Greanda dey seem to have the same weaknness that most Caribbean teams have except for Trinidad in 2006. They can't counterattack to save dey lives and just give the ball back to the opposition when they win it. You can put it down to lack of quality, but from seeing Trinidad under Beenie I put it down to lack of good coaching.

24
Forgive me if I misread what was going on.
In the Costa rica game, Didn't any of you see Yorke waving off the bench when Birchall was coming on. To our crew it looked like Birchall was coming on for Yorke and there were some gesticulating and they changed it for Spann to come off.
I cyar believe nobody on this site saw that. I was not the only one in the stands thought that was what happened. Others made the comment as well.

Breds...wit all due respeck....I sure u mus be went some nex match.

First of all, if something like dat did TRULY happen, I sure de good forumites on here, who we all know doh have a biased bone in dey body, would have said something by now

Secondly, dis is Dwight Yorke you torkin bout sah.  We national hero.  Treble winner.  We national team captain.  He would NEVER do someting like wave off a substitution and let somebodyelse get sub instead a he.  No way!

And finally, Russell Latapy is de coach.  We all know if is one man is his own man is Latas.  Latas eh takin no shit from anybody.  Nobody tellin he who to pick, when to pick dem, what position to play dem, and sure as hell nobody tellin he when and who to sub.  Dis is a man who is above reproach.  He is his own man.  Jack Warner cowers when Latas walk in a room.  Latas is garlic to Jack Warner Jackula.

Nah dread....u wrong.....dat woulda never happen.

Right?

As I said, I may have read it wrong. I hope  you're right and I'm wrong.
Right? :-\

Someting kinda odd doh.

Yuh know de peeps on dis forum is a vocal bunch.  Peeps eh fraid to bump dey gum and tell it like is....NORMALLY.

But like it have some kinda code a silence or someting....a Mafia stylin....because by now, yuh woulda think dem vocal peeps woulda come out and bawl how nutting so went down and yuh really went a nex match.

But nutting of de sort.  Mankind quieter dan church mouse on dis issue.

Tings dat mek u go hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm...

It couldn't be possible dat what u say is true.....could it?
By now I thought men woulda rip out meh heart.
This is one time when yuh hoping yuh wrong bout something. But what I see, I see.
Yorke is meh boy. Ah want him fit and on the field 90mins plus.
But no one is untouchable. Ask Sir Alex  ;D
Come forumites how all yuh so quiet on this one?  ???
It doesn't matter to me if Yorke did or did not do that and i won't be surprised if he did   but Yorke is a quality player,   we all know that and having a quality player like Yorke and Latapy on the ball will settle the team.
There is one problem though,  Yorke is 37 and as fit as he is, he cannot last 90 minutes.  If we qualify, Yorke will be 38 going on 39 and you can't expect him to go up against the Kaka's ant the Gerrerd's.  So until Yorke can prove he can last 90 minutes, whether he decides to try to get fitter than he already is, he cannot play for Trinidad and Tobago no matter how much he wants to play or we or Latapy wants him to play if we are to beat the likes of Mexico with Dos Santos or Honduras with Suazo.
Our team needs a makeover and proper scouts for our foreign based and a manager who can actually select a proper team because our team right now is ancient. We were the oldest team in the last W.C. and we need an unbiased coach at the helm  who will make the tough decisions and pick the proper players  i.e.  not Lawrence, Andrews. Yorke, Noel and Stern John

      DF    Avery John    June 18, 1975 (1975-06-18) (age 33)

          Stern John
    30 October 1976 (1976-10-30) (age 32)

For our team to move foward, these players.....(with the exception of mabye thomas)   cannot play another match for Trinidad and Tobago.

26
Our best team would be...
                                        Phillip
        Edwards-------Keyeno------Jloyd-------Avery
        Tinto---------Birchall-------Hyland------Daniel
                            Jones------Zamora

          Subs..Scotland...Glen...Samuel....Lawrence--James--Williams

Dis team would go  places if we had a coach wit d balls to pick them.

Mexico

Perez – (5) El Conejo, aside from Tinto’s non-stop shot at goal, was rarely forced into action.

Rojas – (7) El Kevin showed great improvement from his previous match perhaps because he seemed to have been prohibited to cross the ball. Still, Rojas was very active constantly linking up to the attack. Kevin rounded up his display with a GOLAZO that gave Mexico a very valuable three points.

Rodriguez – (5) A regular display from Maza Rodriguez who was rarely challenged by the Trinitarians. The PSV defender did well to filter passes from the back but came close to committing two costly mistakes which fortunately for him went unpunished.

Salcido – (5) Salcido’s once dangerous runs into attack seem to be a thing of the past.  The PSV defender was imprecise and benefited from a mediocre opponent.

Osorio – (5) The Stuttgart defender did not seem conformable when playing in center defense.  Given T&T’s lack of scoring opportunities Osorio did not have much to worry about.

Castro – (6) Took over the defensive midfield and did an overall good job containing the Trinidadians.

Guardado – (4) Despite continuously beating his mark, failed to make the best of his chances. Allowed T&T to level the match with an awful back pass that set up Tinto.

Esquivel – (4) The Toluca midfielder proved to be too inexperienced, internationaly, to suit up for the Tricolor in a must win match at home. Esquivel was overcome by nerves and failed to show why he was one of the best players of the Claususra 09 season.

Blanco – (7) Showed his leadership skills with a very good work ethic. Blanco proved he still has what it takes to play a full 90 and was Mexico’s most consistent player. Failed to cap his performance with a goal but did well to fuel the Tricolor’s lackluster attack.

Castillo – (6) Set up Franco with a nice through pass to open the scoring. Unfortunately, a 35th minute injury forced Nery to abandon the field. A shame as he was beginning to look like he had regained his form.

Franco – (6) Scored on his first attempt at goal and then fizzled out. Guille, aside from one good pass to Blanco, spent too much time flopping on the ground. Proved why he is no longer needed at Villarreal.

Sabah – (4) The top Mexican scorer in the Clausura 09 season proved to be the worst striker in the Tricolor. Sabah, along with Ince, turned what should have been a lopsided score into a close match. This was Sabah’s moment to shine and he failed to live up to expectations.

Medina – (6) The speedy midfielder replaced Esquivel early in the second half giving Mexico a much needed boost in attack. El Venado seemed to ball-hog at times but was given very little option as Mexico’s attack was poor, could have done a better job shooting at goal.

Giovani – (5) Gio had one good shot at goal and then that was it. Perhaps, twenty minutes in the field were not enough for him to get into rhythm.

TRINIDAD & TOBAGO

Ince – (8)  Kept T&T from being ran to the ground with two key saves against Nery and Franco and then denied Blanco a much-deserved goal allowing the Soca Warriors to level the match. In the second-half Ince rose to the occasion with two more brilliant saves against Blanco and Giovani.

Abu – (4) Abu allowed the nervous Esquivel to go by him on at least three occasions and was later forced to run circles by second-half sub Medina. Abu received the only yellow card of the match; ruining what could have been T&T’s most clean game ever at the Azteca stadium.

Andrews – (5) Was burned early in the match by Nery’s no-look pass to Franco. Still, Andrews managed to hold down a very shaky defensive line that would have crumbled to pieces had it not been for an on-fire Ince and a very inaccurate Mexican offense.

Hislop – (5) Had a difficult time with Franco and Sabah, benefiting the most from their inaccuracy, but did not allow the Tricolor strikers to take better aim.

Birchall – (5) Defended to the best of his abilities and still managed to join the attack on a few occasions including a memorable shot straight to the Azteca stadium rafters.

Tinto – (6) The always lurking Tinto took advantage of Guardado’s terrible back pass to level the match.

Daniel – (5) Failed to take command in the middle of the field.

Jones – (5) Far from his usual strong self; a better performance by Jones could have helped Trinidad pull out historic draw.

Noel – (4) Failed to contain Guardado who was not even having a good game. Coach Latappy could have easily replaced him with an orange practice cone and it would have not made much difference.

Yorke – (4) The former Manchester United striker is now a shadow of the player he once was. The time has come for “the smiling assassin” to hang up his boots.

Edwards – (4) Seemed to lack faith in himself and was not as dangerous with the ball as he should have been.

Jorsling – (5) Virtually nonexistent in more than half-hour of action.

Spann – (5) Replaced Noel in the 71st minute and did a better job. Gave the Tricolor a few fits with his scrappy field play.

Baptiste – (5) Was non-factor in final 12 minutes as Mexico held the ball for most of that time.
I can't help but partially agree with the yorke comment.

Costa Rica may have trashed the United States on Wednesday, but Saturday’s match against Trinidad and Tobago is a whole new challenge, and the Costa Ricans will need to continue their fine form to walk away with a win. The Soca Warriors are in desperate need of a win as they currently sit bottom of the table, and a home stand against the team at the top of the table would be a big boost to Trinidad’s hopes of reaching South Africa.

Road Warriors:

The road is a scary place in CONCACAF. Ten games into the Hexagonal round, only three points have been collected by road teams, and the group leaders have yet to earn a single point away from Estadio Ricardo Saprissa.

Dwight Yorke Stadium will be a much more hostile environment for the Ticos than the Monster’s Cave was on Wednesday, but that’s not the only thing working against Costa Rica. Much like the U.S., the Costa Ricans have the disadvantage of playing their second match in four days against a team that should be much fresher. Unlike the U.S. the Ticos are riding a nice wave of momentum after putting on a clinic on their home turf.

Another quality outing could have Costa Rica costing into the final half of the Hex with as much as five point lead on their next closest competitors.

In Need Of A Win:

The equation heading into Saturday is fairly simple for T&T. They need a win, and they need it badly. With only two points from three matches T&T is chasing the pack. A draw against Costa Rica would not be horrible, but with the trouble the Soca Warriors have had on the road it would be a missed opportunity to close the gap on the group’s top four teams.

In their last home match T&T fought out a tough 1-1 draw against a very strong Honduras side. That draw was a snatch and grab job with T&T coming up with an equalizer in the late going, but on the whole they proved to be a very tough side to break down.

The Soca Warriors have some monsters up front with Kenwyne Jones, and Jason Scotland, but will be without the injured Stern John. The team should be bolstered by the return of midfield ace Dwight Yorke after his four match ban was cut in half by FIFA.

Trinidad & Tobago: Carlos Edwards. Edwards is a quality player with plenty of pace to run the right flank all night long. Costa Rica killed the U.S. with attacks up the wings and it will be up to Edwards to slow down the Ticos attack and provide quality service for his three massive strikers.

Costa Rica: Alvaro Saborio. The 27-year-old’s goal against the U.S. was pure class and he was an absolute menace throughout the match. Trinidad’s back line will have their hands full with Costa Rica’s quick passing attack, and Saborio has proven he cannot be given time to pick his shot.

Goal.com Prediction: Trinidad has plenty of talent to make this a good game, but the Costa Ricans will understand how good a position they can be in with a win in this match. Trinidad & Tobago 1-2 Costa Rica

There was an elderly man who wanted to make his younger wife pregnant. So, he went to the doctor to have a sperm count done. The doctor told him to take a specimen cup home, fill it, and bring it back the next day. The elderly man came back the next day and the specimen cup was empty and the lid was on it. Doctor: What was the problem? Elderly man: Well, you I tried with my right hand...nothing. So, I tried with my left hand...nothing. My wife tried with her right hand...nothing. Her left hand...nothing. Her mouth...nothing. Then my wife's friend tried. Right hand, left hand, mouth....still nothing. Doctor: Wait a minute. You mean your wife's friend too?! Elderly man: Yeah, and we still couldn't get the lid off of the specimen cup.
