Football / Re: Holland vs. Portugal
« on: June 26, 2006, 06:02:47 AM »
This is quite amusing, with all the hype i usually hear about Dutch Football and their Coaches, this game just prove my point over the years that Dutch Football is not what it's made out to be.

When i looked at Dutch Football over the years, yes they may have had great individual players but nothing they have done has proved to me they are the powers people makes them out to be,check their record/history they are the only so called power house to have never won a World Cup there must be reasons why and one is their attitude.

The writing is on the wall for Dutch Football and they are being exposed for who and what they are,how Van Basten becomes a good Coach what has he done to prove that, not because he was a good player means he is a good Coach,Gullit still has a better track record than him, coaching is not only knowing Football but also knowing how to deal with players(Benie),everybody has been giving Sven a had time with the decisions he has been making but we can say it's luck,so far he is proving everyone wrong.

I will conclude here that i think the better team won,it's a pity Ronaldo had to leave the game else they would have suffered more.
Holland stood 2 times in the finals of the WC.
In 1998 Brazil knocked us out by penalties.
In 2000 Italy knocked us out with Penalties.
In 1994 we had bad luck with de Goey as a goalie, 'cause we played a great match against Brazil.

Knowing how to deal players? Gullit had a hard time 'bout that.
Beenhakker had a hard time dealing with players.
Why? Because he's good as a Technical Manager and as a National team coach, but all players eventually get sick of him and he's talks.

Guus has shown the world that he's one of the best coaches ever. Cruijff did that.
Rijkaard & Ten Cate have shown with Barça what football is about.

Co Adriaanse made Porto champions with attacking and atrtactive football instead of always defending.

Louis v. Gaal won a lot of prizes and finished second this year with AZ.

And I could continue, but that would take way too much time.

The Dutch never had an attitude. They're always confident, but wouldn't you be with such great players?

v. Basten has showed us again that he's a good coach.
Without any experience he lost his first official match in 2 years yesterday.

Now I ask you, what more do you expect?

And talking about better teams yesterday, Portugal wasn't.

2
is it just me or is Marco Van Basten ah damn fool, he an he "youth movement".....
The damn fool lost his first official match in 2 years.
So much for being a fool huh? ;)

I am very disappointed in Van Basten boy.  cyah lie bout that.  How you will let a personal disagreement with a player colour your choices on game day?

He has a lot of questions to answer.

As much as I am NOT a Man Utd. fan, how could you not play Van Nistlerooy in a game like that?

what personal disagreement? for real..or is that just a rumor
A rumor from foreign media.
Ruud told us that it was all ok.

Yeah boy I loss real respeck for van Basten..great player..good coach. but a personal thing with van Nistlerooy cause you not to play him?? van Nistlerooy is a big game performer and even if he didn do the job at least you do your job as a coach. Right now van Basten screw his country over

That's bullshit. I know everybody in foreign countries think that.

But v. Basten has no problems with Ruud.
If you saw the other games, Ruud didn't play well and Kuijtt obviously trained better and deserved a chance.
Football is like that!

There were no problems in the Dutch camp.

http://home.skysports.com/worldcup/article.aspx?hlid=398167&CPID=4&clid=366&lid=13&title=Van+Basten's+Ruud+regret

Read between the lines nah. The article said Ruud was not happy with what van Basten said..and even if they didnt start Ruud he should have at least come off the bench with the team a goal down
Of course he wasn't happy about it, but he knew v. Basten was right.

And did you see Ruud at the warming up? He was smiling. He had a big smile on his face.
Players who are upset, don't have a big smile on their face.
The foreign media (especially the German) were trying to find a way to break the harmony Holland has.

Personal vendetta or not Van Basten looks like a fool for not giving Van Nilsteroy a run especially since they were down.

He put Van something of somewhere on instead. Ridiculous.
Because he's a good pinchthitter, v. Nistelrooy isn't.

When you don't know much about Dutch Football, and you only know some names, why judge?
Everyone here knows that putting Vennegoor of Hesselink on the field was a verygood choice he made.

screw Holland and that lack of sportsmanship......man injured, the team hands you the ball, yuh supposed to give it back.....ah hope they lose this game
How can you blame Holland for that when it's Portugal that has a lack of sportmanship?!
Even in their own team!!! (Deco)

Cruyff is an excellent choice. Koeman also coaches. Voellor or Libaski?
I'm sorry to tell you, but Cruijff said that he will never coach again.
And Koeman got a job at PSV.

I started to lose faith in Beenhacker, when I started to read too often his public statements about the player's lack of ability. Seems to me he had no real faith in the players, and made it public. Then now he says, "maybe our players will have more confidence in the future!!?" WTF!!??...I personally would have no respect for my coach if he broadcasting to de press that I eh have no talent. That explains the totally defensive set all tournament, and no Latapy untill the end there. No faith in the players.

Disappointing.
If you were a player in that team, would you expect to win from Brasil and other big countries?

YES!!!! I doh feel dem have any more talent dan me at all.

All Beenhakker did was taking away the pressure.

EH!! How!!?, by telling the world that the players eh good? Best allyuh just defend alone and done?
You guys shouldn't see things in such a negative way. Beenhakker only wanted to take away all the pressure.
He's a very smart man, honoured by his psychological way of handling players. He knows what he says.

I think he outsmart himself. Thats about it. (plus some people on this board, you know who you are)

I don't really know what you mean, but I think you're saying that T&T played constantly on the DEF (correct me if I'm wrong).
That's not true. I saw more attacking impulse from T&T than I saw from Serbia and Poland.

I don't agree with you on that. But that's ok.
We dont have to share our opinions. Right? ;)

Arrogant if you ask me.
How was he a major contributor to the defeat?  What stupidness you all does talk so?  T&T played well made a few errors and lost to a better team on the day.  Paraguay is better. Let's face it! He gave an honest evaluation. I don't understand how you could say that he was a major contributor to this defeat. What do you expect. All you are a set a living room coaches ... but I respect you as fans.  Congrats to Beenie and the Warriors for a job done as well as we could have.  It was our first time and hopefully we will be back again in 2010.

Tactically i believe he made some mistakes. Mostly regarding Theobald and Latas. I don't even want to get into the Jack thing. Our Defense was much less organized this game and I do think that the GK had a lot to do with that.

If he really wanted to take the pressure off the team then he should have shouldered the blame, just as he was quick to accept congrats for putting on Glen in the Sweden game.

I think he did a great job. We qualified and played well at the WC. However, that does not place him beyond reproach.

Exactly...men acting as though de man cyar do no wrong. Personally...he did well against Sweden, he was outcoached against England, and should have brought in Latapy much earlier against Paraguay. Fact is, Latapy should have seen every game.
I agree on that.
The moment I saw Latapy I didn't understand why he didn't play before.

The thing that amazed me even more was the age of that guy.
37 right?
Or maybe I didn't hear that well.

Woooow thanks!
This is a game I would love to watch a million times!

The moment Eto'o & Belletti scored I went totally crazy and almost cried :P

My father in Catalonia was crying. In fact almost everyone of his village (and probably whole Catalonia) was crying.

I'm not from your country.
But mannnnnnn, the socawarriors made me a big fan of them.

They showed the world what football is about.
Nike uses Ronaldo, Robinho & other players for their Joga Bonito. I say f**k them!
They should have used the socawarriors!

They played clean football, they where attacking and again: They showed the world what football is about.

Thank you guys!
Thank you very much!

Do you see what I'm trying to say? ;)

Guys, I've seen Beenhakker for many, many years and that's why I know he ain't bitching on your players.
If he thought the players weren't able to perfrom, he would NEVER EVER took the job.

T&T should be very, very proud.
I talk with people all around the world and everybody is surprised by the way T&T plays.
Our commentators are commentating with a lot of emotion everytime T&T has a chance.

I think the socawarriors have found a place in every heart of true-football-lovers.

ah thought he was being diplomatic at first but the more times i reread it..like he ent taking no blame whatsoever.
also ah think he hinting that we players werent good enough and that was all he had to work with
ah wonder who pick the side and tactics?..steups
You are totally wrong!

Beenhakker was back here in Holland some months ago and he told in front of National TV that T&T have a lot of talented players, but one can't expect much from them, 'cause this was the first time T&T played at the World Cup and there are other countries who have better players.
Anyway, he told us many times that he is very, very proud of the players and gives them almost everytime all the credit they deserve.

The thing about Beenhakker is, that he is quite...strange sometimes.
