Hide your cocaine!
Nigeria gave Argentina too much of the ball. Giveaways, fouls(which they know they would not get the benefit of doubt) and missed opportunities. Maybe they not mature enough. Good Luck in the future. All the African teams(except Senegal) going home.
Not disciplined enough to realise that 1 point would get them to the next round. This has been the narrative of (most) African teams. If Denmark needed one point to advance, best believe they playing with 10 defenders and ah goalie.

Congo....

I believe that there is a misconception which insinuates  that if the US best athletes switched to football, the world will have to watch out...

Last time I checked being a super human athlete didn't equate to one being superior on the football field.

Messi, Neyamar, and Ronaldo are not the biggest or most physical athletes to play this game but they are all dominant.

This is akin to the suggestion that size of a country should equate to overall dominance in a sport, in this case football.

I agree that  the US have made significant inroads in the sport, but they are still light years away  from being
a major player.
Not saying it is impossible, but I don't think we will see any major status changes in our life time.

We on the other hand have the 'potential' to surpass them if and only if the stakeholders/public come together.

People hear what ah saying which is revealed in every important game against a good team. The problem is our defense, the problem is always our defense.. we could never preserve a lead against a quality team because there is always a mental breakdown in defense. YEARS now this has been our problem. Defenders playing without intensity and confidence. smh
.

The mental breakdown is not exclusively on defence. That is simplistic.

Exactly! The defence didn't cause Marvin to gift GUAM that second goal, or have wayward passes directly to the opposition.
I believe this has more to do with our mental shortcomings as a team as opposed to  placing blame on a specific unit.

We really missed Bostock today. Molino is an excellent RW but not great playing behind kenwyne. Hyland and Boucoud were excellent today. As were Bateau and for the most part Mitchell. Joevin had an interesting game. He didn't do too much but scored 2 goals one of which was spectacular. This team needs move movement among the 3 attacking midfielders.

I had him on the right wing... I believe him and Levi should start with Molino off the bench..it might be more effective for us..

At this juncture, I don't think Levi should start. He is much more effective coming on in the second half and running at the opposition.
For this team, we don't have alot of impact players coming off the bench, so if a spark is needed, he is the one.

Why can't Molino provide that spark?

He is not as dynamic and direct as Levi, defenders eh fearing Molino running at them. But whe Levi gets the ball in the opponents half, his speed allows him to creates chances for himself or his teammates.

injury time cato had a man open with acres round him and he didnt even see....dunno if is composure or wat but these things are critical
If he raised his head for a brief second he had two men open. Both options were easier and much better than the choice he made.
He has a habit of running with his head down in crucial situations. I hope the technical staff would review this game film, point out the positive aspects of his game and emphasize the areas where improvements are needed.

Can't wait until Ruiz retires. Such a pest. It was evident when he was rushing the ref on our free kick. And now he is seeking to create last minute drama.

That man is  like Gandalf, we sure to see he in some capacity in the qualifying rounds for Qatar '22

NBC Universo commentators: "T&T are playing too relaxed. Guatemala recognizes what's at stake."

The Federation should just sell all the rights to our home games to the opposition. We clearly seem to lack the focus and intensity which is evident in our away fixtures. We cyah afford to play like this against top tier teams...

Not sure what going on with this Belgian 'Golden Age' nah... Dem men have all the talent but can't seem to take it to the next level.

Glad to see the games are much better in quality as we get closer to the finals. The Portugal vs Croatia game was dreadful, but the match today was action packed...

Belgium really missing those centre-backs

Some one(s) missing??  That's why Belgian defence looking so shaky?
Kompany is missing in the heart of the defence. But looking shaky is an understatement. Belgium have Wales looking like a Pep coached Barcelona team.

if Belgium do end up playing Portugal. I think Portugal will be at a disadvantage simply because Belgium uses more of the middle of the field than Portugal

In addition, Portugal will be missing Carvalho in the center of the park because of suspension. Along with Sanches, I believe that his introduction into the midfield is paying huge dividends.

The US sentiment is that they were missing 3 of their top players so the scoreline and outcome would have been different. How delusional, as the talent, speed and execution of play was not even close.

I wish the Argies didn't take their foot off the gas until the score was 7-0 so that Mexico and the US would have something in common.

Yea Dunga couldn't survive after this especially with sub par performance at the WC and Copa last year-

Better he get the axe now, than wait until  the Olympics. Because it would be a travesty for them to be the host country and put down a pile when the expectation is to win the goal medal.

Bateau: Team play was the Pivotal.
By Shaun Fuentes (TTFA).

Defender Sheldon Bateau was all to happy to step in and deliver in attack in order to push Trinidad and Tobago ahead and set the pace for the 6-0 victory over St Vincent and the Grenadines on Tuesday night at the Hasely Crawford Stadium.

The goal was Bateau’s first on home soil for T&T and the third of his career following his two goals at the 2015 CONCACAF Gold Cup. Before his acrobatic finish. He has played 22 games for T&T.

T&T had been finding it hard to push themselves ahead with Kevin Molino, Kenwyne Jones and Khaleem Hyland going close as the visitors were contented to keeping the score deadlocked for as long as possible.

“I couldn’t ask for a better stage and platform in which to score my first international goal at home,” Bateau said. “I felt the goal came at a good time because we need to break the tie at that point because as you know in football, if you dominate but don’t take your chances, the game can change at any moment and the pressure was on us to surge ahead,” added the former San Juan Jabloteh player.

“The play that led to the goal itself was outstanding. I saw the opportunity to go at them and once I got it wide for Joevin I knew something would happen and I was all too happy to run in and finish on the rebound.

“The forwards weren’t getting it right up to that point but I wasn’t going to sit back and blame the strikers but I think it’s a responsibility that all of us on the team embrace when it comes to doing whatever it takes to get results. It shows how far I am willing to go in order to get to Russia in 2018. As a team, we go to all lengths and die for each other out there,” Bateau said.

He and his “Red Army” will need to maintain this attitude for what is expected to be a rigorous campaign up ahead starting with the next home game against Guatemala on September 2nd where T&T needs at least a point to secure its spot in the final round, T&T will close off the semi final phase against the United States in Jacksonville, Florida on September 6th.

This result has simplified things

If TnT wins the next two games vs St Vincent and the U.S. wins its next two games vs Guatemala, then both teams would be through to the HEX with two games to spare.

ah love it!!

Correct! Once we stay the course our place in the Hex will be booked.

Not sure what youre ranting about - no one here is claiming that Barcelona, real and all the top teams arent good. Indeed barcelona and madrid are clearly better than what England have to offer right now. They benefit from being two incredibly large dogs in a pitiful yard and can guarantee themselves champions league year after year. Talent flows to the big teams in the country - top talent is split between the big 4/5 in England.

Their leagues overall are of lower quality though - many more easy games than in the Premiership. This means that Premiership teams have a disadvantage as they are less able to rest players.

Look at Stoke's team - 12th in the table and the majority of players are national team players. Rayo Vallecano are in 12th and they have a smattering of players. How many of Rayo's squad would improve Stoke? Not even sure much of Espanyol's would improve WBA's (13th)

So yuh saying a big player like Bebe' can't make Stoke's 1st team?

For a league that don't draw the best players in their prime, they have been doing much better financially and overall attendance than Spain, Italy, France. And also Germany.... But by little. The German league is almost on par with the EPL. Spain is a 2 team league with the occasional win by Atletico.

Interesting about Spain

I wonder which teams have won the UEFA Europa Cup 4 of the past 6 years?

English teams?

If English teams so close in standard from top to bottom, then it stand to reason that even if they can't do well in Champions League, they should be a lock to lick up all dem "lesser teams" in Europa League ent?

Sevilla and Valencia dem eh nutting. De likes of Stoke and WBA would regularly wipe de floor wit den Spanish teams.  Doh talk fuh de likes of Spurs and Liverpool. Advantage.

Because England simply don't care about the Europa League - it's an on-going joke. Finishing 5th is considered worse than 9th for a lot of teams because you have the extra games and tiredness (not to mention teams who qualify for Europe and then find themselves in the relegation battle due to the intensity of the league). The prize money pales into significance compared to the Premier League prize money - teams half way down the table field their 2nd string in the Europa League because it's not worth the risk and barely anyone cares about it.

The massive TV contracts and sponsorship deals have major parts to play in the financial dominance of the EPL.
The language barrier and marketability are other factors to consider.

Spot on Palos... It goes back to ones exposure to a certain league. If yuh grow up watching the EPL or Championship all yuh life. Then try to view a Spanish league game here and there, yuh opinions maybe a bit skewed. How many of us have ever watched a 2nd Division Spanish or German league game?

As Bakes said, it's a different league promoting different attributes. I'd love to see what would happen if Messi came to England - Cronaldo was the type of player who does well but there's no way he'd manage as many goals as he does in Spain - the standard of the other 16 teams in England is night and day compared to Spain, primarily for monetary reasons.

You see this gulf in a number of stats - attendance of the top 6 is impressive in Spain, then it drops off - Eibar only manages 4/5k through the gates! Watford (19th out of 20th on average attendance) would be 10th in La Liga. It becomes farsical when you drop down a league - no one in Europe has a 2nd division like the Championship, and it means there are no easy games in the Premiership (at least until Derby get promoted :p)

Basically, players in the Premiership have to be at the top of their game every week without fail. If you have an off day in the Premiership, teams like Stoke will soak up your pressure and counter you. Recently the English press have been talking about how this might be impacting our European success - teams are arguably unable/less able to rest players before European games because the games are hardr and you need to secure next year's participation. Tell me that Barcelona have to face that problem when facing half the table.

I believe Messi would initially struggle ,but would eventually adapt and be just as dominant as he is in Spain. Case in point, Neymar struggled when he moved to Barca but this season he is playing some of the best football of his early career.

Cronaldo was scoring goals in England at a record pace, with what I believe was a weaker supporting cast. He went to Spain and was still dominant. Another example is Suarez, who moved to Spain and has continued is fine play. The top notch players like the top tier teams will adapt and continue to dominate the opposition in any league.

English press fooling people with that statement. Lack of European success boils down to the teams not being good enough.

There is a good vibez coming from this team. 2016 is our year.  :beermug:

I echo the same sentiment. Sessions look lively and the squad seems a bit more relaxed (away from home). That being said, I hope this confidence can be replicated at home, because of late, the team has been playing a bit more tentatively.

Jan Williams
Bateau
Mitchell
Cyrus
Hoyte
Joevin
Hyland
Cummings
Boucaud
Cato
Kenwyne

Good line up

I think a  4-5-1 formation is necessary in for our away games... Qualification is the name of the game... Win yuh home games and play for a victory or draw in yuh away games.
Both 4-3-3 and to a lesser extent 4-4-2 formations are exciting , but as seen in past outings we are susceptible to giving up goals...

I assume you mean keeping it updated with content. Simple fix.. the answer may lie right here, where you're posting (my comment above 'social/fan').

I had posted this before.. are we the "warriors" or "Soca Warriors"?

Could this be part of the whole re-branding of the national teams  or possibly fending off future legal issues pertaining to the "Soca Warriors" name?

KJ got hit on his shin, will be out for 2 maybe 3 weeks.

Do we always have to play our best players especially in a friendly game?

If Hart going to experiment, we good give the younger ones a chance.

Come on Hart, its a big gamble to take, he already played vs Panama, without Jones we will be in trouble.

Andrews look very good.

Qualifiers right 'rong de corner, so the team has to gel in as many friendly games as possible. We had issues in the past with not playing any friendlies during the FIFA window. Now we getting some valuable warm ups against some 'decent' competition, resting yuh best players just for sake of it should not be an option.
Granted KJ picked up a knock, but our forwards have not been scoring consistently in past games. If we playing with 2 forwards ; Glenn and KJ have to play as many warms up games together so that when qualifiers start; we eh go have no cohesion issues.

Another Trini in Guatemala? Nice!!

What's the real advantage here for our boys? Is their league considered higher than the Pro League? Is it that they will be playing against Central American opponents? Is the monies better. I imagine at least more people attend the games.

Of course I wish him the very best

It could be a combination of factors which led to his decision, but I would welcome this move because it will get him out of the comfort zone of playing at home.
Playing in a foreign country with no notoriety, overcoming the language barrier and customs builds character.
