What about Track & Field / Re: 2017 Outdoor Results for T&T Athletes

MACHEL Cedenio had an Injury along with some personal and coaching issues this season. Things should be back on track next year.

Agree with the rest.

From what I know, this is his final year. He did 2 years at juco before Alabama. So he might have 1 more year. But I wouldn't rule out the possibility of him having 2 more years. Some athletes do 2 years at juco, then 3 years at University.
not possible unless you red shirt an entire season both inside and out.
You can have 5 years of school, but only 4 years of running.... No exceptions. Also this is his last year coming up now Trini 1 and Deeks

I wonder if Jereem will take his chances and turn pro.

Was wondering the same, but heard him mention that school starts back August 23rd, so I guess he's put that on the back burner for now.

The splits ^^^^

Solomon put us in a hole, but the next 3 legs brought us back. Jereem and Cedenio were the fastest on their respective legs and Lalonde was the 2nd fastest anchor.

WELL DONE BOYS!!!!!!! :beermug: :beermug: :beermug:

Our male 4x100 failed to advance to the final, but no surprise there. The ladies made it, but barely. The second and third exchanges need work. Khalifa is the weak link, so they have to give her as much of a cushion as possible. MLA absolutely BLAZED the back stretch. Man it was beautiful to watch. May have accounted for the poor exchange between herself and Semoy. Too much speed... Lol.

Our male 4x400m made the final and looked good doing so. Was a bit surprised on how fast they ran, considering the form of the individual pieces. Replicate tomorrow and we should be on the podium.

How would you order the ladies to get the best finish?  Or is that the best?

Based on everyone's skill set, it's the best IMO. Khalifa is just still obviously developing.

Jereem! Fastest qualifier again.

Yohan Blake out.
Van Niekerk came 3rd. Just made the final.

Ah jumping over here. Man looking real good. Will keep predictions to myself to avoid goat mouth.

Yes, he looked tremendous. Will need to replicate that performance 2 more times.

Will be a huge disappointment if World Champs come and go this year and we aint win one medal  :D

Allyuh one of our athletes have to surprise we yes

Keshorn, MLA and KAB are the medal hopes that we have. Two of the three have graced the podium before and MLA certainly has the talent to do so herself.

10
Sad to hear that about the women. They actually have a chance to get a medal. Unlike the men. They ain't pushing for no medal. Trust meh. I will be surprised if the mens team make the 4x100 final.

Very happy with the sprinting from our girls. KAB got sandwiched by two National records, both of which belonged to her. Hopefully they can break the mold and repeat those times outside of Trinidad.

Glad to see Cedenio progressing with every race he runs. From 46.36 on May 13th to 44.90. HOPEFULLY he can get back down to PB shape in time for London, because Merritt maybe ripe for the picking.

12
Just to give you all an idea of what the USA is bringing this year for the 400m.. NO LASHAWN MERRIT. However, that Fred Kerley kid is a freak. One thing that puzzles me is that he went from a mid 45 runner last year to a mid 43 this year.. I wonder if something is cooking. . Or perhaps it's just hard work and perseverance.

1   Fred Kerley Texas A&M   44.03   0.174   4
2   Gil Roberts Unattached   44.22   0.182   6

7   Michael Norman Jr Southern California   44.80   0.192   3

Merritt will be ever present in London... He has a diamond league bye.

Steady improvement from Cedenio. 46.3x about 3 weeks ago. He's supposed to run at Bolt's farewell meet this weekend coming. Stiffer competition there should pull him down into the low 45's

In brighter news, we have our first wind legal sub-20 run in almost.... Well, 20 years.

Socapro, if you are using the athletes PB's as your benchmark for comparison on their level of performance, let's just agree to disagree from now. The world is my only measuring stick when dealing with pros.

16
LMAO at all this conversation.

MLA aside, compared to their PB's, yes you can call their results good, but in comparison to the world (which is what ultimately matters), those results are MEDIOCRE!

He switched to camp Brauman in Florida earlier this year, so there might be a period of transition. He has some serious quarter horses to train with now in Cedenio and Gardiner from the Bahamas, so hopefully it rubs off

23
4x100m men won the B final. So props to them!

Well it pays to get the stick around. We now automatically qualify for the WC in London later this year due to all the mishaps in the "A"  final. Now to find a way to shave a second of that time so we can have a respectable showing by the time we get to London.

What about Track & Field / Re: Jereem Richards breaks Boldon's record
« on: March 16, 2017, 12:16:07 AM »
Lanes 5 and 6 are the best, especially on a banked track. The curve is gentler and you essentially start the race on a downhill angle from those lanes. In this case I just think it was a matter of the best runners being seeded in Lane 3.

25
That part in bold, is what has me shaking my head. Why invite Richard to the camp, if you know you can't give him the attention he deserves. Worst yet, is that it reads as if he was playing favorites.

#poorconduct

After that poor showing I doubt Ato will attract athletes unless st fort win Gold in the future.. Ah love Ato but he failed as a coach with the team.. Our athletes should have at least medaled.

In Ato's defense he was not the national coach and such a title means very little in the T&F world. All a national T&F coach does is pretty much being a manager and making sure that the athletes who don't have their personal coaches with them, have their workouts supervised and the athletes have everything they need. Richard and Khalifa were his only two direct charges. Everyone else had their own coach who was responsible for their prep.

Ato, Torpedo part ways
Tuesday, September 6 2016

THE PARTNERSHIP of multiple Olympic medallists Ato Boldon and Richard “Torpedo” Thompson has ended, with Boldon, in his new role as a coach, focusing instead on the up-and-coming teenaged sensation Khalifa St Fort.

Thompson approached Boldon to be his coach in August 2015 and the pair worked together in the lead-up to last month’s Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

But Thompson had a poor showing at the Games, as he was eliminated in the first round of the men’s 100 metres and was part of the men’s 4x100m relay team who were disqualified in the final.

According to a story on CNC3 News last night, Boldon was quoted as saying, “(Thompson) just feels like he has to move on. I think we were honest about how much attention Khalifa gets in the camp and I think he felt, at some point this year, that my focus is so much on Khalifa that everybody else sorts of takes a back seat.

“Richard will continue to run, for how much longer I don’t know,” continued Boldon.

“That is up to him. Richard will continue to run but he and I will not be working together, even though we remain friends.”

Yuh mustn't repeat everything yuh hear. Garbage news...Bolt is PUMA  for life!

29
I think Michelle is in a similar position to Machel. 3 giants ahead of her, but if any slip, she will be able to pounce. She is the best of the rest IMO. So 4th place is what I expect, but hoping for a medal!!

To add to my post, I would think lane 7 is good for her. Firstly she's not the best curve runner out there, so the gentler the curve, the better. Secondly her technique isn't suited to high pressure situations and being in the middle of the track will be a dog fight coming down the straight. She can run free out there in lane 7.

[/quote] The girl did not dive, she leaned for the line and her legs gave out. She gave maximum effort and literally had nothing left. She wasn't flat on the track 10+minutes after the race by luck. Don't buy into the American hype trying to belittle the girl 's win. The name of the game is to cross the line first and that's what she did. In 2008 when David Neville actually dived to get his bronze, he was said to give a herculean effort. So de Yankees can go F$@k themselves!
