I did not hear the commentary as I watched the game in a bar while on vacation so I didn't hear what the so called experts said about it. I thought it was legit bc the keeper released it.
Nah, both commentators (Peter Drury and David Pleat, I think) said that the goal was legit, and it was a lack of concentration by Karius.

John Bostock: ‘You see life differently when you’re that close to death’

The former Crystal Palace prodigy, now playing in Turkey, tells how surviving a horrific crash gave him a broader perspective on his life and career
Footballers enjoy privileges that few can aspire to but for John Bostock the simple pleasure of being alive is enough. Last year when travelling back home in England following a game for his French team Lens, the former Crystal Palace midfielder suffered a head-on crash while driving down the motorway at 3am. The other driver was drunk and going the wrong way at 70mph, resulting in his passenger dying and Bostock’s car being a crumpled heap, but he was miraculously unhurt.
“Scientifically, I probably shouldn’t have survived that crash. Two cars hitting each other head-on at 70mph, it made me appreciate life, appreciate family and appreciate the gift that we have to live every day,” Bostock says as we sit in the dugout at his new club, Bursaspor. “It was a big wake-up call, something that there isn’t a plan to get over. You just have to focus on the future and take every day as it comes, appreciate life for what it is. I am grateful that I went through it because you see life in a different way when you’re that close to death.”
Bostock expected the damage to be worse but his strong Christian faith ensured he recovered from an incident which could have been far worse. “It is only by the grace of God I survived that crash. It is something you never want to be involved in but a huge wake-up call to life. As footballers we focus on football, your career and your own life but when something like that happens it makes you realise about life in general. My family were really shaken to find out someone lost their life in the crash, which was devastating. I came out without a graze, thankfully. Psychologically it took a bit to get over but I was back playing in 10 days.
“When you are involved in something like that, you are always thinking ‘What if? What if?’ and sometimes you get flashbacks. I couldn’t sleep for a night, it has a big affect on your family but it also made me realise I have a destiny to achieve; I am here for a reason.”
The tumultuous nature of football is something he can take in his stride after the disappointment of being tipped as a future England captain in his teens. Now that he is 26 and has survived a major car crash the prospect of switching continents at the end of the winter transfer window was not something to be feared. Last season he won the Ligue 2 player of the season award but it took until the 2009-10 Turkish Super Lig champions Bursaspor approached him on the penultimate day of January for him to move on to bigger things.
“It just came last minute but I spoke to the coach, I was ready for a change. I really wanted to play first division in a good league in Europe and I had several offers but I spoke to the coach here, Paul Le Guen, who in France is a legend. My friend Will Ekong is here and told me all about Bursa and the club, the supporters and the size of the club. We spoke, I considered it with my wife and my family, it was a quick decision but one we made and really believed it was in my best interests to sign and so far I am happy with my choice.”
From the relative tranquillity of Ligue 2, Bostock was thrust into a home debut against the Turkish giants Besiktas. It was a baptism of fire as the Englishman discovered the atmosphere he could expect at his new home ground, which is shaped like a crocodile in honour of the club’s nickname. “One of the things you realise very quickly is that it’s a cauldron of football. If you can play here in front of the fans and with the pressure then you can play anywhere. You see videos of how passionate the fans are. In my debut against Besiktas you couldn’t hear anything on the pitch, you couldn’t hear your team-mates, you couldn’t hear yourself think but that’s just the way of the fans, as they give you everything but they want something back.”
This interview takes place on a day the club’s players have refused to train having not been paid for five months, meaning Bostock had not received a penny in wages since his January arrival. Despite the financial issues, the midfielder is adamant he has made the right decision for his well-travelled career. “I’ve played in MLS, I’ve played in Belgium and France but here it’s completely different. I thought I’d seen everything in football but I’ve come here, seen a little bit more but honestly it’s an amazing place to play. The standard is terrific, I am playing against world class players almost every week, internationals in every club.”
After helping OH Leuven to promotion in Belgium and being named the best footballer in Ligue 2, Bostock has attracted suitors once again in England where he is still thought of as the kid at Palace who then never made the grade at Tottenham. But now older and more mature, he does not fear returning to England to show what he has become.
“People may feel like if I came back to England I may need to prove something but I am not worried. Maybe a few years ago I would feel worried and that I would need to prove myself, that I was this wonderkid but I don’t need to prove any of that any more. If I came back I would just want to do the best job I could for the club I play for and enjoy playing in England in front of my friends and family in the most watched league in the world.”
After helping ensure Bursaspor’s top-flight status for another season, Bostock is continuing to look forward as he never wants to dwell on the past, whether it be in football or his horrific car crash. “I want to be remembered as somebody who fulfilled the purpose they were created for. Sometimes if you start comparing yourself to others, you start chasing other people’s destinies and purposes. I believe I was made for a purpose. I am who I am and I’ve been on my own journey, it’s formed me to be the man I am today, my character, the way I play, it’s not been easy, so I want to be remembered as someone who never gave up and pushed to fulfil his potential.”
When Bostock left Spurs with nowhere to go, he was worried his football career would be taken away from him but he came close to suffering the greatest loss, so he is rightly content proving himself right and others wrong from afar.

Was Touches' experience the same for others, re. entry? If so, credit should be given where due.
People the TTFF, Gary Griffith, Security, whatever advisors they had finally got it right and I was in the stadium in under 30 seconds.
All the various gates were open, they were properly manned and I passed tru security in no time. I then got a matchday program, a free bmobile cup and a Trini Flag...yes a mini flag and it wasn't a cheap one. It was the proper ting with good nylon flag material, plastic stick and gold finish top. The kinda mini flag that you paying $45 in the airport in duty free. The match program is top stuff, pictures and stats of all the players, message from the TTFF, an article by Corneal, good souvenir to keep.
The stadium organizers had all the turnstiles open and I walked to an empty one and entered..no line again. It took me three minutes to get in the stadium, a record! Well done organizers keep it up!

The only difference to me is that they split the entrance for the uncovered section into two: season pass and one-off tickets. I'm not sure how many season passes were sold for the uncovered section, so I don't know how much help this measure will be.
This release also fails to address many other things, including but not limited to:
- Exit gates remaining locked and spectators being forced to leave through narrow entrance gates
- Metal detectors going off and spectators being told to go ahead
- Lack of stewarding
- Lack of assigned seating
- Ridiculous traffic getting into Port of Spain

Leaving this here. I hope we don't (and never again) see a repeat of what went on at the USA and Guatemala matches. Be safe, everyone.
Security advisory for World Cup qualifier.
The Trinidad and Tobago Football Association wishes to inform the Public that a meticulous Security Operational Policy will be in place, adhering to FIFA regulations to ensure the safety and security of all those who attend the CONCACAF Final Round 2018 World Cup qualifying match between Trinidad and Tobago and Costa Rica commencing at 7:00 pm on Friday November 11th at the Hasely Crawford Stadium.
Several meetings and on site viewing have been conducted with all the different arms of the Protective Services, TTFA Security officials and SPORTT to ensure that there would be a comprehensive Security Operational Plan, and all of this would be monitored and coordinated through a Venue Operations Centre in the Stadium on matchday.
That being the case, spectators can feel comfortable to know that all that is required to ensure their safety and security has and would be implemented as meticulous Security arrangements have been made starting as soon as the teams land in our country.
A thorough research was conducted to rectify matters of the past that may have inconvenienced patrons, and even though there will be strict security protocols implemented, due to intense meetings and planning by a professional Security Secretariat that was set up to ensure that this game would be incident free. Systems will be implemented to also ensure that there would be no undue frustration for spectators such as long lines and waiting periods to enter the venue.
The TTFA will however seek the support of the public to ensure that such concerns can be even further reduced, if they can adhere to these regulations, and this would cause the entrance into the Stadium to be made even easier for all.
Access points to Stadium- Gates
There will be Five (5) specific Gates that provide access to the Hasely Crawford Stadium
Gate 1
Main Entrance -[ Manned by Private Security of Stadium]
Only access is for maintenance staff, and to park in area east of Jean Pierre Complex only
Gate 2 A– Between Jean Pierre car park entrance point and Gate 2 B.
This is the Gate for access for Seasoned ticket holders uncovered stand
Facing northwards [where ticket sales on match day are usually conducted .Only seasoned uncovered stand ticket holders to have access point at this Gate
Gate 2 B- next to St John’s Ambulance headquarters
Only entrance for all spectators of uncovered stand – not season ticket holders
No vehicles, security personnel, media, or vendors to have access through this gate
Gate 3- Opposite Lion’s Gate
Entrance for spectators with covered stand tickets [ including covered stand seasoned tickets]
Access also through this gate for –
• Vendors arriving between 1100 hrs to 1600 hrs.
• Differently abled drivers,
• Accredited media
• Team buses
• Accredited staff
Gate 4- Castro Gate
-Access for VIP invitees
POINTS TO NOTE ON MATCH DAY
• Spectator Information Desk for query of tickets etc- Jean Pierre Complex Booth [facing Uncovered stand)
No tickets will be on sale at the Match Venue on Game Day but will remain on sale until 7pm at Lotto Locations within the vicinity of the Hasely Crawford Stadium. There will be no parking for patrons inside the Stadium except for working personnel and match day officials, team buses and emergency and protective services vehicles. Gates open at 4pm.
Patrons are asked to have tickets in hand upon entering the security checkpoints.
We are requesting that the following guidelines be adhered to:
– No Coolers
– No large Knapsacks
– No alcohol to be brought into the Stadium by spectators
-All spectators will be scanned via Walk through scanners on entry,
– All spectators are asked to have their ticket in their hand to show on entry into the Stadium just prior to being searched at Security Check Points
– As much as possible, other than motor vehicle keys, spectators are asked to refrain from walking with any type of metal object, to prevent a secondary check.
Spectators are advised of the following restrictions and would not be permitted to bring the following into the Stadium
• Chairs
• Firearms, weapons, and knives
• Fireworks, explosives, and flammable items
• Mace/gas containers
• Glass bottles or containers
• Alcohol
• Illegal drugs or narcotics
• Cans (soft drinks and alcohol)
• Video cameras/ camcorders
• Large Umbrellas:
• Own foodstuff (with plastic cutlery)
• Flasks, Soft drinks/water in plastic bottles
• Banners & Flags that may be deemed vulgar, racial, discriminatory, sexual in nature, or display advertising which may in any way conflict with the rights of the sponsors of the event or deemed to be offensive, or impact on the view of other spectators.

All but two exit gates reportedly remained closed at the end of the recent match against Guatemala. A fatal crush was a distinct possibility. The chances of a crush outside the stadium at the start of the match has been well documented, and stories of parents holding their children up above their shoulders to avoid asphyxiation were common. Many patrons who triggered metal detectors were told to proceed to their seats without being searched.
While matches behind closed doors will come at a financial cost, it would be firmly in the name of spectator safety. The demand for tickets for upcoming matches will far outweigh supply. With the inevitable introduction of counterfeit tickets taken into account, along with the baffling campaign to reintroduce the sale of alcohol at the stadium, I fear that a major tragedy will occur unless the stadium remains empty.

'Crime Watch' suspended after Alleyne's on-air comments

Ian Alleyne's Crime Watch programme has been suspended pending an internal discussion between management at CNC3 TV and host Alleyne later today.
The Express learned that Alleyne was called before CNC3 boss Nicholas Sabga on Thursday and taken to task for remarks considered to be politically inflammatory made on air.
While Alleyne asked questions about whether the wives of two Government ministers benefited from multi-million-dollar contracts at the Brian Lara Stadium, Tarouba, which is being refurbished, it was a single question about whether “Andrew's wife” got a $17 million contract that proved to be the last straw.
Though Alleyne never used a surname or clarified who was Andrew or Andrew's wife, he was called on by Sabga to explain and provide documentary evidence of that claim.
The Express learned that Alleyne was told that Andrew's wife called the station and threatened to sue for defamation. Alleyne has been advised against commenting to the media and has since taken to his Facebook page to muster support for protest action he is planning to take outside the Guardian building on St Vincent Street, Port of Spain. His show is taped there at the offices of CNC3.
“Tomorrow history will be made when I am asked to sign a document not to speak ill of the government,” Alleyne said in a social media post.
“Massa day is not done, massa day has come back again and it our own that is now responsible for our bondage,” Alleyne said in another post.
Despite the cryptic posts, Alleyne remains unsure of Crime Watch's future. That will only be determined after a meeting with Sabga today.
In a brief telephone interview yesterday, even Sabga was unsure what the meeting will bring but he did find it strange that there was so much interest in the matter.
He denied that Guardian Media Ltd (GML) was seeking to “muzzle” the media or was pandering to a political party.
“There really is nothing to discuss as this is an internal issue,” Sabga said yesterday.
Sabga then texted that “at CNC3, we take accuracy and fairness in our reporting seriously and we have asked Mr Alleyne for evidence corroborating a story he aired in a recent edition of his programme. We are currently discussing the matter with Mr Alleyne and his representatives, making it inappropriate to comment any further at this stage,” Sabga said.
Head of the Media Association of Trinidad and Tobago (MATT) Francessa Hawkins, who is also a CNC3 weekend anchor and senior journalist, did not respond to calls or texts to her mobile yesterday.

The Express learned that Alleyne was told that Andrew's wife called the station and threatened to sue for defamation. Alleyne has been advised against commenting to the media and has since taken to his Facebook page to muster support for protest action he is planning to take outside the Guardian building on St Vincent Street, Port of Spain. His show is taped there at the offices of CNC3.
“Tomorrow history will be made when I am asked to sign a document not to speak ill of the government,” Alleyne said in a social media post.
“Massa day is not done, massa day has come back again and it our own that is now responsible for our bondage,” Alleyne said in another post.
Despite the cryptic posts, Alleyne remains unsure of Crime Watch's future. That will only be determined after a meeting with Sabga today.
In a brief telephone interview yesterday, even Sabga was unsure what the meeting will bring but he did find it strange that there was so much interest in the matter.
He denied that Guardian Media Ltd (GML) was seeking to “muzzle” the media or was pandering to a political party.
“There really is nothing to discuss as this is an internal issue,” Sabga said yesterday.
Sabga then texted that “at CNC3, we take accuracy and fairness in our reporting seriously and we have asked Mr Alleyne for evidence corroborating a story he aired in a recent edition of his programme. We are currently discussing the matter with Mr Alleyne and his representatives, making it inappropriate to comment any further at this stage,” Sabga said.
Head of the Media Association of Trinidad and Tobago (MATT) Francessa Hawkins, who is also a CNC3 weekend anchor and senior journalist, did not respond to calls or texts to her mobile yesterday.

JOHN BOSTO CK has been included in the 24-man Soca Warriors squad for the crucial Russia 2018 World Cup qualifiers against Guatemala and USA, as head coach Stephen Hart is confident he will get the all clear from FIFA.
TT will face Guatemala on September 2 at the Hasely Crawford Stadium in Port-of-Spain from 7.06 pm before playing USA on September 6. Bostock, who is an English based player born to a Trinidadian father and Scottish mother, has been trying to get clearance from world football body FIFA to play for Trinidad and Tobago.
Yesterday at a press conference at the Hasely Crawford Stadium in Port of Spain Hart was confident that Bostock would get the clearance and included him in the 24-man squad.
Hart explained, “the situation with Bostock is that there has been ongoing dialogue between the president (of the TT Football Association David John Williams) and FIFA. The president has been persistent in his push to get this situation clarified. We are almost 100 percent sure that the situation should be resolved by Monday. All the documentation and dialogue has been ongoing for weeks now.” Also included in the TT lineup is Canadian-born goalkeeper Greg Ranjitsingh who plays for Louisville City FC in the United Soccer League in USA.
Hart said Ranjitsingh has been showing potential. “I have had him scouted quite extensively. He has been having a very consistent season. I thought it would be an opportunity for him to come in to work with Michael Maurice and to of course push for selection within the squad.” TT , which is on top of group three with 10 points, needs just one point from their remaining two matches to ensure a place in the final round of World Cup qualifiers.
Hart expects a difficult match against Guatemala. “Guatemala as well as everybody knows what this game means. Both Guatemala and the United States arguably have a better set up in that they are both going to play their final games at home. Guatemala knows very well that this is a game they have to come and get a result and they are going to come and fight for that result. We have to be aware of that ourselves, I don’t anticipate this game to be pretty at all.” Hart said that the TT team will have a small training session on Sunday before the official camp begins on Monday with the full compliment of players.
Keron Cummings has been left out of the squad as Hart believes he is not ready to resume his international career. Cummings was shot in his right leg in December 2015 which kept him out for months. He has played matches for North Stars FC in the TT Pro League since May but thinks the midfielder needs more time.
“I think his touch is there, his mobility is still a little bit questionable.
He is still a little bit scared of tackles and situations like that but his touch and vision is there. MATH WHIZ GOES AGAINST THE TIDE

A 12-year-old Gasparillo boy has scored a distinction in mathematics in the Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CESC) examination, perhaps the youngest student in Trinidad and Tobago to have attained such a feat.
Frederick Thomas Jr, a student of the Open Bible High School in San Fernando, and felt by Education Ministry officials to be too young for such an exercise sat the examination in May when he was just 11 years old. The exam is one that is usually done by students five years his senior.
“All the hard work paid off so I’m feeling very excited,” the pre-teen told Newsday yesterday.” When I got the results during the night, I couldn’t sleep. I was too excited to sleep. When I got the results, I was in Tobago. And, my mom told me, ‘Now Freddie, I’m going to show you the results; I got through online,’ because before, she wasn’t getting a connection to the site, because too many people were on it. And she got on, and she saw my results.” Frederick’s achievement comes on the heels of Education Minister, Anthony Garcia’s declaration last week that there has been a decline in the math pass rate in the CSEC in Trinidad and Tobago.
Seated calmly and confidently on one of the benches in Assing’s Classes where he studied for the math examination and where Newsday chatted with him, Frederick, discussed his passion for the subject but his math lessons teacher, Bernard Assing, referred to fondly as “Dad” by Frederick chimed in: “He got inspiration from reading the article on my grandson. His mom took exams in Form 2, she’s a student of mine too.
And he got inspired by this (gesturing to a previous Newsday article on his grandson – Kiran Christian Dyaanand – who also achieved a distinction in Math last year at the age of 12 that he had laminated).
And when she (Frederick’s mother Sharon Thomas) came in, I said, ‘Well, why don’t I take him, if you want him to write within the year?’ And he was all keen on doing it, and I said ‘Ok.’ Kiran took three months to do it. He took the year.
That is because he couldn’t sign up.” Frederick’s mother explained that when she tried to register him for the January exam, it was already September 2015, and the deadline for registration had passed. Therefore, she resolved to register him for the May exam, but even then, she encountered resistance from ministry officials entrusted with the task of registering candidates, who advised her that he was “too young” and “should not be put through that stress.” Thomas ignored them and registered her son for the examination anyway. Furthermore, she rebuked the officials saying, that as a parent, if your child wants to do something, then you ought to encourage him or her. It took a lot of sacrifice, however. For each day of math lessons, Thomas, a teacher at San Fernando Girls’ Anglican, waited at Assing’s Classes until her son’s lessons, from five to seven pm, were over.
“I came from work, sat down and waited until the classes were finished and then we went home together,” she told Newsday. “Sometimes we reach home around 8 o’clock or 8.30; because if it’s an evening class, a five o’ clock class, it will finish around seven or a little after seven, and we travel home. So for me, it was all about supporting his decision. When he was ready to do his exam, I was there on the day, and sat down, waited for the whole day. Mr. Assing and Mrs. Assing came and supported us, and we chatted while he was in the exam room to give him that support.” She continued, “On the day, he was relaxed, and I was nervous.
He said, ‘well, mommy, I did the work...’ When he saw Mr. Assing, he was very happy, and he went in the room very joyous, and he took it at his pace.” Frederick. sat the exam in Marabella South Secondary School. Frederick comes from a single home. Any communication he has with his father is via skype.
Nonetheless, he pushed past this challenge and succeeded at a young age, in the CSEC exam.
According to his mother, Frederick was and remains “really padded” at home, having the benefit of living in an extended family: his mother and grand-parents.
Thomas also said that he received support from his aunt and her twin sister, also a teacher and a former student of Assing.
When asked if he had any advice for youngsters undertaking math studies, Frederick said, “Anybody could do mathematics. You just have to put your heart and mind into it and say, I want to get top marks, I want to get a distinction, and of course, if you study hard, and even if necessary, you could take extra classes, then anybody could receive a distinction.” Frederick intends to begin studying for CSEC additional mathematics in September of this year, and hopes to sit the exam the following year. He may also pursue English and some science subjects in the future.
