General Discussion / Veteran Benefits
« on: October 28, 2010, 06:19:06 AM »
As I have been reading a thread in this forum I am glad to realize that there are many military Veterans here. In my time here I have found that there are many WI veterans that are passing up many of the benefits that are available to them e.g. Veterans Association (VA). I have assisted a few of my friends and/or ppl I have come to know on FB with attaining their missing benefits and would like to ensure the veterans here are also receiving all that is due to them.

If you are a veteran in the US Military please send me a private message with your branch of service and contact information and I would try to ensure you get all you truly deserve. It does not matter if you served for 1 day or 30+ years

All all HIPPA Laws and Privacy Act will be adhered to. You do not have to reply to this post a private message with your contact information is all I would need.

« on: November 07, 2008, 07:00:34 AM »
I have a cousin of mine that has been in a terable accident 3yrs ago. I have not been able to make it home to see the conditions of his living but I have tried to help be sending money to him on a monthly basis.

I have learnt that basically the family has neglected him and his world is not as it should be(I am trying to not get to personal).

I would like to get him to the WC qualifiers against Cuba.

I am asking the members here to help me getting this accomplished.

Things I am needing

He lives in Gasparillo. I will provide the address when needed.

1. Ah ticket
2. Some one or 2 to pick him up take him to the game and take him home after the game.
3. Some logistical assistance.

I will pay for his ticket and what ever else is needed to include food. I will take donation too(out ah de goodness of yuh heart) ;D

I really need you home based to do this for me. He is confined to a wheel chair 24/7 and do not get out of his room which is the size of a jail cell.

I am truely disapointed in my family and ask you for assistance here.

PLEASE.

Please PM me if you are willing to assist. This is not a joke and I would hope that you respect my earnest request.

Sincerly,
Dexter B. Friday

Who would come out better should we have a compition our the 5 best teams in both leagues?

Jokes / Make Everyone Happy
« on: June 09, 2008, 08:10:28 AM »
This is crazy......

Bush Money!!!

President Bush, First Lady Laura and Dick Cheney were flying on Air Force One.  George looked at Laura, chuckled and said, 'You know, I could throw a $1,000 bill out of the window right now and make somebody very happy.'

Laura shrugged her shoulders and replied, 'I could throw ten $100 bills out of the window and make ten people very happy.'

Cheney added, 'That being the case, I could throw one hundred $10 bills out of the window and make a hundred people very happy.'

Hearing their exchange, the pilot rolled his eyes and said to his co-pilot,'Such big-shots back there.
Sh*t I could throw all of y'all @sses out of the window and make 56 million people very happy.'

A Japanese doctor said, 'Medicine in my country is so advanced that we can take a kidney out of one man, put it in another, and have him looking for work in six weeks.'

The German doctor replied, 'That's nothing, we can take a lung out of one person, put it in another, and have him looking for work in four weeks.'

Then the British doctor said, 'In my country, medicine is so advanced that we can take half of a heart out of one person, put it in another, and have them both looking for work in two weeks.'

And finally a Texas doctor, not to be outdone said, 'You guys are way behind. We took a man with no brains out of Texas, put him in the White House and now half the country is looking for work!

Entertainment & Culture Discussion / We or Wii
« on: March 13, 2008, 05:42:35 AM »
I just purchased the new nintendo system Wii. I tell you what it is a very good gaming consol. I advise everyone who can afford it to do so.
Ever since I left the military my health and work schedule has hindered me from doing any physical excercise. My wife and I have been playing the Wii Sport games and I tell you it is a very good excercise system. I have told my wife that we will monitor our weight and see what happens.

There is a dance game that also offers a traning arobics work out. You better have some coordination first.

Wii is GREAT.

General Discussion / Virginia Here I Come
« on: May 02, 2007, 05:11:39 AM »
Waiting to hear the word if they accepted me. I did an interview for a management level Federal job located in Alexandria, VA. They let me know that they want me just have to get the Human Resource PPL to verify my credentials and officially notify me. Wage starts at $80,000.00/yr.

I my be there intime for the Gold Cup. Any WN members in Virginia? Don't know to much about the US since I only lived there 3yrs befor joining the Army then moving to Europe.

I am so excited acquiring this job goes against all odds. I retired as an SGT/E5 without any degree. most PPL in that situation only make it so far eg..
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/General_Schedule
Federal system levels

GS 01- 07  Entry level (this is normally how far SGT reach)
GS 08-09  Starting senior level (lucky if you get there I am a GS 09)
GS 10-12 Mid Level (to move from 10 to 11 must spend one year in the lower grade)
GS 13-15 Top Level (same one year in lower grade rule applies the job I may get is a 13)

As you may see on the link I could have jumped from a GS09 to an 11 position but not a 4 grade jump. (Thank GOD he did it for me)

So you see why I am sooooo excited

As you can see I am making a very big jump. Almost unheard of in the civilian sector. My wife and I are looking to buy a house in Virginia in the Winchester area.

Green light for further special projects in Oceania, India and the Caribbean

Zurich, 23 March 2007  -  Convening for the first time in 2007 for a two-day meeting in Zurich under the chairmanship of President Joseph S. Blatter, the FIFA Executive Committee decided that special projects along the lines of the 'Win in Africa with Africa' programme are also to be extended to other regions and continents.
As part of the Football for a Better World initiative that is being supervised by the Committee for Fair Play and Social Responsibility, the executive approved the principle that projects similar to the existing Win in Africa with Africa programme be conceived for other continents and regions (Oceania, India and the Caribbean). Concrete proposals will be presented at the Executive Committee's next meeting at the end of May.

Created by the 2005 FIFA Congress in Marrakech and due to present its final report (focusing specifically on the areas of finance, politics and competitions) to the FIFA Congress on 31 May 2007, the Task Force 'For the Good of the Game' is set to be merged with the Strategic Studies Committee to create a new FIFA standing committee that will serve as an international football forum with representatives from all branches of the game, including clubs and players.

The executive also discussed various proposed amendments to the FIFA Statutes, which will be submitted to the FIFA Congress at the end of May. One of these amendments is intended to strengthen article 62, paragraph 3, which requires associations to insert a clause in their statutes stipulating that their clubs and members may not take a dispute to ordinary courts of law but must instead submit it to the relevant bodies of the association, the appropriate confederation or FIFA. This reinforcement of the FIFA Statutes is founded on the recent decision of the Swiss Federal Court - Switzerland's supreme legislative body - to uphold and confirm FIFA's right to impose disciplinary sanctions by means of points deductions or the relegation of a club to a lower league.

The positive financial figures for the FIFA World Cup year of 2006 and the entire 2003-2006 period were warmly welcomed. FIFA's balance sheet, income statement and its budget for 2008 now require approval from the Congress.

The committee was also satisfied with the progress of preparations for the 2010 FIFA World Cup™ in South Africa and reiterated its confidence in the local organisers of the event. In all, a record 202 associations have enrolled for the qualifying competition. The preliminary draw is due to take place in Durban on 23 November 2007.

The length of the FIFA Confederations Cup 2009 in South Africa (venues: Port Elizabeth, Bloemfontein, Johannesburg (Ellis Park), Pretoria, Rustenberg) was increased by one day. It will therefore be played between 14 and 28 June, with the semi-finals now to be played on separate days.

Although the format for the six-match final tournament of this year's FIFA Club World Cup in Japan will be no different from in 2006, the executive agreed to introduce a qualifying play-off between the Oceania champions and the league champions of the host nation, with the victors then lining up alongside the champions of the five other confederations.

The schedule for the bidding procedure for the 2014 FIFA World Cup™ in South America was approved and the Executive Committee will therefore reach its decision on this matter in November 2007.

The executive agreed to allocate the TV rights in Germany for the 2014 FIFA World Cup™ to ARD/ZDF, the pair of public broadcasters who already hold these rights for the 2010 tournament. Furthermore, FIFA's partnership with the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) was extended to include the 2014 FIFA World Cup™.

With respect to problems facing member associations and the preservation of their autonomy, the Executive Committee ratified the Emergency Committee's decision to lift the suspension on the Kenya Football Federation on a number of defined conditions. Furthermore, the Executive Committee took note of the fact that a model of direct political intervention exists in Spain which, in the opinion of FIFA, could lead to sanctions.

Further decisions:
- The affiliation of Montenegro as FIFA's 208th member will be presented to the Congress for decision.
- This year's FIFA Anti-Discrimination Day will take place on 14-15 July 2007 to coincide with the quarter-finals of the FIFA U-20 World Cup in Canada. The 2007 FIFA Fair Play Day will be held in conjunction with the United Nations' International Day of Peace on 21 September, shortly before the quarter-finals of the FIFA Women's World Cup in China.
- Originally scheduled for 28 August to 14 September, the FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup 2008 in Chile was, by way of special exception, moved to 30 December 2008 to 17 January 2009 in order to allow for the best possible promotion of women's football.
- The 2008 FIFA Congress will be staged on 28-30 May in Sydney, Australia.
- Canadian club Toronto FC and Bermudan side Bermuda Hogges were given permission to participate in Major League Soccer and the United Soccer League respectively.
- The FIFA administration will continue to deal with the situation regarding Simpaul Travel.

Taking over the role of FIFA vice-president for the first time at the meeting was Michel Platini (France), in his capacity as UEFA President. It was also a special occasion for Marios Lefkaritis (Cyprus), who was attending his first ever Executive Committee meeting by assuming the seat previously held by Mr Platini.
