Touches if they could not beat Guatemala away what makes you so sure they can beat Costa Rica at home.
Costa Rica at home is a dominant squad, Historically speaking they destroy the US at home.

Reyna
Donanvan
Mc Bride
Johnson

all missing this is a B squad

A big win by Costa Rica and Guatemala last home game gets infinitely easier.

If the loose to america at Home the Coach will be under pressure to beat Guatemala for fear of loosing his Job due to poor results.

Arena Names 18-Man Roster In Advance of Oct. 8 Qualifier in Costa Rica

 10/3/05 11:03 AM

 Matchday 9 of Final Round Qualifying Kicks Off at 7 p.m. MT in San Jose;
Match to Be Broadcast on a One-Hour Delay on ESPN2 Beginning at 10 p.m. ET;
Fans Can Follow Live on ussoccer.com’s MatchTracker
MIAMI (October 3, 2005) — U.S. Men’s National Team Manager Bruce Arena has selected 18 players to prepare for the penultimate World Cup qualifier against Costa Rica on Saturday, October 8 in San Jose, Costa Rica. Kickoff at Estadio Ricardo Saprissa is set for 7 p.m. MT (9 p.m. ET), and the match will be broadcast on a one-hour tape delay on ESPN2 at 10 p.m. ET. Fans can follow the match live on ussoccer.com’s MatchTracker, presented by Philips, beginning at 9 p.m. ET.

The U.S. sits in first place in the final round hexagonal with a 6-1-1 record, becoming the first team in CONCACAF to qualify for the 2006 FIFA World Cup after defeating Mexico 2-0 on Sept. 3 in Columbus, Ohio. Costa Rica, currently in third place and five points ahead of Guatemala, can secure their place in the World Cup with a victory against the United States. (For a complete look at 2006 FIFA World Cup qualifying in the CONCACAF region, visit the competitions page at ussoccer.com.)

"Obviously our main goal has been accomplished, which was qualifying for the 2006 World Cup," said Arena, who saw the U.S. qualify first from their region for the first time in 71 years. "However, the last two games in this round are extremely important, not only from a competitive aspect, but also in evaluating players as we look towards the vital preparations for the 2006 World Cup."

Manchester United goalkeeper Tim Howard will make his first appearance for the United States in the final round hexagonal, as well as his first for the team in 2005. The 2003 English Premier League Goalkeeper of the Year has one qualifying cap to his credit, earning his fifth career shutout for the MNT in the 2-0 win against El Salvador on Sept. 4, 2004, in Foxboro, Mass.

The roster features four starters from the USA’s last meeting against Costa Rica, a 3-0 U.S. win on June 4 in Salt Lake City, Utah, led by PSV Eindhoven midfielder DaMarcus Beasley. The 22-year old is the leading capwinner in 2006 qualifying on the roster, having started 12 matches and scoring four goals. He continues to add to his career-best scoring tally in a single year with the full team, having recorded four goals and four assists. Veteran defender Eddie Pope returns to the U.S. fold after missing the last three qualifiers, and with 72 appearances to his credit, ranks as the USA’s most experienced player in the squad. Carlos Bocanegra and Bobby Convey have both become regulars for the first XI at Fulham and Reading, respectively.

Two other veterans called into the match are defender Oguchi Onyewu of Standard de Liege in Belgium and midfielder Pablo Mastroeni of the Colorado Rapids. Surprisingly, Onyewu will be looking for just his 11th all-time cap this weekend following his sparkling performance in the team's victory over Mexico last month. Mastroeni has 42 caps to his credit and wore the captain's armband for the U.S. in their goalless draw in Guatemala on Sept. 7.

The U.S. roster boasts Major League Soccer’s leading marksman in striker Taylor Twellman, whose 16 goals top the MLS scoring table. The San Jose Earthquakes contribute the largest contingent, sending four players to Miami.  Brian Ching is back in the squad, already with four qualifying appearances under his belt and two goals, including the game-tying finish in the 89th minute of the 1-1 draw against Jamaica on Aug. 18, 2004. Defenders Wade Barrett and Danny Califf also make their return, while Ricardo Clark is the only player on the U.S. roster yet to receive his first cap with the full team.

The U.S. has a lifetime record of 11-9-4 against Costa Rica, but has never won on the road and holds a 0-5-1 record in six qualifying appearances in Costa Rica. In their last 10 meetings, the U.S. holds a 6-3-1 advantage against the Ticos, with all six wins coming in the U.S. and all three losses coming in San Jose, Costa Rica.

The U.S. team began training Monday morning in Miami. After the Costa Rica match on Oct. 8, the team will depart directly for Boston in advance of their final World Cup qualifier against Panama (tickets). That match takes place Wednesday, October 12 in Foxboro, Mass. Kickoff is set for 8 p.m. ET and the match will be broadcast live on ESPN2.

Chances are we will end up with a significantly negative goal difference if things continue and we are able to squeak into the world cup,

Given the fact that we take in more goals than we give out should we be in the World Cup.

Has a team with a negative goal difference ever made the world cup, Tallman dig up the facts are we on the road to make history,

This might be an interesting statistic.

Football / Re: Warner says $100 million is ‘laughable’
« on: October 03, 2005, 12:32:17 PM »
Govt really cannot support these grounds.

It is up to the Govt to allocate the grounds to strong Club's who will maintain their own grounds.

Govt must develop a more managerial role than a doing role.

There is too much to do it must be allocated.

The key is how can the Govt smartly allocate.

It all comes down to money so tax breaks will have to come in.

We need strong community clubs willing to maintain their own grounds with the Govt providing a way for said clubs to get sponsorship or allocating the Land to the clubs so they have a financial stake in the grounds.
Land is a powerful thing and costly as well By owning land clubs may be able to leverage land equity loans etc to get money to run the club.

We need to think outside the box

Ideas is what we need

Luis Tejada is not playing.

This is big news as he is the one with Pace.

Valdez Brothers and Brown are not that quick so they will not expose our pace weakness.

It is about coaching style and tactics.

You might want to see TnT play with creating strikers but beenie man just looking for Finish off men.

Stern, Sealy, Yorke and to a lesser extent Jones are finish off me

Scotland is the only one who we could say is comfortable running at men.

Bennie man want men who could put the ball in the net he not looking for the forwards to create chances for the team

the man is an international and if we make the world cup he will get nuff pubilicity

His value will go way up as he will be all over the newspaper especially if he play good.

He will probably be the first white british player to play in the world cup for a country other than Britian.

that in itself should sell a few tabloids

Drama on the final day
30 September 2005
by FIFAworldcup.com

If playing in a FIFA World Cup™ finals remains the ultimate experience for any footballer, then the process of getting there brings its own unique pressure.
The high stakes ensure no shortage of shredded nerves as the qualifying competition concludes and the final verdict could not be starker: a black-and-white picture of joy and pain. As the last matches in Germany 2006 qualifying approach, FIFAworldcup.com recalls past dramas on the road to world football's greatest showpiece.

Four years ago David Beckham may have been loved by Manchester United fans but it was not until England's closing qualifier for Korea/Japan that he became a national hero. England had beaten Germany 5-1 in Munich a month earlier but now they trailed Greece 2-1 at Old Trafford and appeared destined for the play-offs. Deep into injury time, however, they won a free-kick on the edge of the Greek penalty area. Beckham stepped up coolly to curl the ball home and England's place in the Far East was secure.

French nightmare
If English fans recall fondly that late flourish then across La Manche, the French still have nightmares about the night of 17 November 1993. Needing a solitary point from home matches against Israel and Bulgaria, France looked certain qualifiers for USA 94 but a 3-2 loss to Israel set nerves on edge.

Then Bulgaria came to the Parc des Princes: Gerard Houllier's side took the lead through Eric Cantona but Emil Kostadinov equalised and in injury time the same player got on to the end of a Bulgarian breakaway to smash in a shot off the underside of the crossbar. While Bulgaria went on to reach the semi-finals in the States, back in France, the international career of David Ginola, who had lost possession in the build-up to Kostadinov's winning goal, never truly recovered.
Paris was not the only European city that witnessed some telling drama that night in 1993. In Seville, Spain lost goalkeeper Andoni Zubizarreta to a red card just ten minutes into their must-win match against Denmark. His replacement was an untried 23-year-old called Santiago Canizares. The future Valencia keeper rose to the occasion, however, making a succession of superb saves as Fernando Hierro's header sent Spain to the US - and left European champions Denmark reflecting on a second successive last-day disappointment.

While Spain celebrated it was an unhappy night for neighbours Portugal as their hopes died with a 1-0 defeat by Italy in Milan, Dino Baggio scoring the late winner before Fernando Couto was sent off as Portuguese frustrations boiled over. Wales supporters, meanwhile, will never forget Paul Bodin's missed penalty in their decisive home match against Romania. With the game in the balance at 1-1, Bodin rattled the crossbar and instead it was the Romanians who found a second goal. Romania proceeded to the quarter-finals in the States while the Welsh wait for a first finals appearance since 1958 continues.

It was against Wales four years earlier that Germany secured their passage to an Italia 90 tournament they would go on to win. It was an uncomfortable evening in Cologne, however, as the Germans fell behind before Rudi Voller and Thomas Hassler secured the victory Franz Beckenbauer's men needed to qualify as one of the best second-placed teams. Of course, the Germans were not the first side to win the FIFA World Cup after scraping into the finals - Argentina had done the same four years earlier.

Argentina leave it late
Diego Maradona would have never illuminated Mexico 86 had it not been for a late goal by Argentina substitute Ricardo Gareca in the Albicelestes' 2-2 draw with Mexico on 30 June 1985 in Buenos Aires. Carlos Bilardo's side needed to avoid defeat to pip Peru to first place in their group – and avoid a repeat of their elimination by the Peruvians prior to the 1970 finals - but were 2-1 down with ten minutes remaining. However, Daniel Pasarella then shot against a post and Gareca turned in the rebound and Argentina were on their way to Mexico.

It is the hard-luck stories that seem to stick in the memory longest, however. Japan famously lost out on a place at USA 94 after conceding an injury-time equaliser to Iraq in a match remembered on the archipelago as the 'Tragedy in Doha'. The 2-2 draw in Qatar meant the Japanese, who had then yet to reach a FIFA World Cup, missed out on goal difference to arch-rivals Korea Republic.

Of course the Japanese have since reached three successive FIFA World Cup finals but you wonder whether Trinidad and Tobago will ever get another chance after coming so close in 1989. Curiously they played the very first qualifier for Italia 90 – a 4-0 win against Guyana on 17 April 1988 – and also the last, against the US 20 months later. The small Caribbean country needed just a draw in Port of Spain to qualify for Italy but went down 1-0 to a goal from the USA's Paul Caligiuri. The Americans had their first finals place in 40 years and have not looked back since. As for T&T, the long wait goes on.

Marquez and Borgetti are the only 2 but they are the Key 2

Borgetti scores all of their goals and Rafa Stops most of the other teams attacks and links with the forwards.

Without Borgetti up front goals will be scare against Guate Guate as them other men does real throw way when they ready.

From Liburd's Article

Whatever the state of mind that Panama, who cannot qualify for the 2006 World Cup, or Mexico, who have already done so, take to the field in T&T's crucial remaining CONCACAF qualifying matches-on Saturday October 8 and Wednesday October 12, respectively-Beenhakker must be certain of his ability to capitalise.

In the end Football is about desire!

Are we going to let a team that is out of the world cup and one that is already in the world cup stand between us and the world cup.
Are we going to let these team who have nothing to play for stand between us and the world cup?

Let them foreign pros answer that question!

Peong did you get my reply message.

We do not get sponsor because we are nobody in terms of the word dynamics. Main Stream Markets have still not heard of Trinidad and Tobago.

It is up to the Govt to promote the image of the country and make us well know.

Everything from TV commercials to putting Trinidad and Tobago as the name of the Airlines, To foreign based promoting them selves and their culture.

Until then
Soca will be a form of Fast Reggae
Trinidad and Tobago will be an island near Jamaica.
And Steel Pan will be invented in Jamaica.

We have no Bob Marley so it will make things Harder.

In the end the foreign based Trinis as a community are not as vibrant as the Jamaicans.
They outnumber us and they make they presence known.

In Mainstream market anything Caribbean is Jamaican and until we can differentiate we self Markets will not open up.

Suriname have a decent team

Saw them against Guatemala in the qualifiers they did good at home but lost out in the away match due to experience.

They are not far away from a second rounds or even a hex.
This is the problem with Concacaf qualification at the begining 2 games and you out results in some good teams being eliminated look at Cuba if they did not run up against Costa Rica they could very well be in the Hex and performing well.

Who is going to fund the program?
The Govt?

As far as I am concerned if the Govt is going to spend my money on sports then they must have somebody accountable to ensure it is being spent correctly

The Ministry of sport has given the TTFF millions of dollars over the years you in the Govt can provide proof as to when the money is being spent

Trinidad Govt stand to Benefit the Most.

Pubilcity for the country (Invaluable we could never afford world wide advertising)

Strong Sport industry leading to employment

Youth benefits of being involved in positive activities leading to less youth crime and issues, Invaluable.

Health benefits of sporting activities reduced health care cost for the nation.

The Govt stand to benefit the most for a Strong football program in TnT.

It is bigger than just 11 players making the world cup.

Football / Should the Govt Be in Charge of all National Sports
« on: September 20, 2005, 07:05:03 AM »
Ultimately should they be in charge of all National teams.
With Football for example
The economic situation in Trinidad is such that Football cannot support itself financially. Even when we sell out the Stadium the game is a Loss finanacially.

The TTFF depends on Govt as well as Jack to put plenty money into football to keep it  afloat.
Yet still from what I can see I do not see any Govt accountability or responisibility in football making decisions administratively.
in the end I think the football suffers becuase the Govt is reluctant to give as no real account is given for the money.

I think in order for us to move forward in the TTFF there must be a Govt appointed repersentative in a decision making position within the TTFF to ensure tax payers money is being directed properly

FIFA is very anti government as far as football is concerned. but in small nations I think it is essential.

If you look at a big country like the USA
They govt may not be involved because the Federation has enough fundraising and support to fund the program.

In Trinidad there is virtually no money coming into the local game that is not Govt related.

Gate Receipts are small
Sponsorship is non existant
And we contantly have to be begging the Minister of Sports for money.

I think part of the Ministry of Sport reponsibility should be to ensure the National Teams represent the country properly and as a result they should have a say in the leadership and direction of the team.

This is our biggest down fall not exposing our PFL players to international football.

Men quick to Down Cry Keyno Thomas and King and them in the PFL but our biggest down fall is discarding them men and not keeping them intergrated into the Squad.

Until we change the concept that a foreign based is a sure pick our squad will never get deep enough to be a consistant force in concacaf.

Lack of Depth management is our number 1 issue and this must be addressed for the 2010 campaign.
