ah woulda go with Shearer but that was when Newcastle was playing with 2 wingers, now he ent scoring cause he ent getting the right service for his type of game..anyway...Speed,Scholes,Vieri,Koller,Morientes,Cocu and Larsson have good ability in the air, also Gullit, van Basten,Platt,Fowler and Klinsmann from the 90's...but now i would have to say the best right now(last couple months) is both Terry and Borgetti in front of goal that is.

Football / Why not just a Soca Warriors Forum?
« on: June 28, 2005, 07:33:54 PM »
hey Tallman..wouldn't it be a good idea to have 2 seperate forums?..one for strictly posting Trinidad & Tobago football matters and then another for International discussions like talking bout transfers and analysing club games etc. That way someone wont have to read through posts concerning the Confederation Cup just to get to the Gold Cup posts that werent so recent in the day.
I know I could go to many different sites and do the same but I was hoping to chat with mostly Trinbagonians though.
As i said its just a thought..not sure how much work it is to be a moderator etc. 8)

Football / Re: Analysis of Argentina vs Mexico

Tactical battle which could have gone either way
By Alvin Corneal (FIFAworldcup.com)

In the latter part of the first half, Mexico began troubling Argentina by getting behind the back of their defence. However, the Argentinians managed to withstand the flow of balls coming across their goal and you have to give credit to Javier Zanetti and Juan Sorin for their work on the two flanks. They looked to force the Mexicans infield, which took some of the pressure off the Argentina central defence.

I was wondering what he meant by that...how could you force the Mexicans infield and then say it took pressure off the central defence? ???...was it that the cross balls was harder for the defence to deal with at that point in time?

You dont like the French but you pick Henry on you EPL X1 ..hhhmm

well if the man good he good lol...but i don't like his sulking and "don't tackle me too hard or else i might break"attitude..i was wrong to categorize all French players this way but it still seems to me that the majority of the stars have some sort of problem.
Allso my selections were players who i felt had a decent year.

oh i see your'e a Pres man too lol..what year u was there?

Roque Junior is a big shithound ! (I wouldn't start him for Trinidad)

I was shocked as hell to even see him captaining the side..he couldn't even make it at Leeds...talk bout overrated..I guess once you have the title "World Cup winner" you could get and do anything you want.About 50% of Brazil 2002 squad was shit and don't even talk bout France 98 squad...LeBeouf and Diomede world class my arse!!!

what bout standing in an off-side postion, then receiving the ball after a deflection off a defender?...sometimes i see the referee wave play on and sometimes they call the off-side even though there was clearly a big touch off the last defender?..is that part of the rule null and void now too?

In reply to Rdoney

How is Steven Gerard different from David Platt?

Both are primarily work rate players.  Gerard just has a better shot.

the difference is that Platt had a flipping brain(no 1 in 10 40 yard pass attempts in a game) ,more of a team player and better reader of the game.

Man U's forward line ent start back to click since Cole,Yorke and Sheringham leave.Van Nistelrooy is good enough to play as a lone striker, also Rooney can do his thing too, therefore they should be looking for a more direct and skillfull centre midfielder cause obviously Scholes ent cutting it lately for whatever reasons.
Also I don't see Owen ever going to old trafford..if he's going back to england its going to be either Liverpool or maybe Newcastle and Arsenal ( i hear Henry complaingin bout the workload etc)

Football / Re: RATE BEENHAKKER AND STAFF ON THIS THREAD....
« on: June 11, 2005, 05:51:00 PM »
hi...i'm new but been one of them background lurkers as you call them for a couple weeks..so i finally registered last night lol.
anyway my point is that Beenhaker is just one of those 'mercenary' coaches (but he seems willing to do whats he's paid for) and we should thank God that we didn't end up with someone like the 'white witch doctor' or one of those other ones that roam the african continent milking those federations.
the team had performed 60% better than under the previous 4 coaches and the difference is down due to tactics and more hustle, therefore i would give him 6 out of 10.
He also faces a tough job getting to instill  a work ethic and basic technique into some of these local players who havent had the experience of training with a foreign club...no wonder Burchill seems a class above the rest even though he is just an average player at best cause he listens, undeerstands and then can carry out these simple instructions.
has anybody else ever wondered if any of our footballers actually watch games on tv? i mean simple passes and play decision making seems awful at times, like running offside or even set pieces, absolutely no imagination( and then again no technique lol) and so un-professional even the so called foreign pros(Leslie Fitzgerald-i wont even take him seriously till he drops that stupid 'Tiger"off his name.
does anybody know the lenght of his contract, maybe it might be a good idea to keep him on board so that him and his  staff can implement some kinda development program (yes i know politics and money involved) so that maybe when we the 2014-2018 World cup comes around we would have fellas whom could actually control and kick a ball properly.example no more Nigel Pierre and the likes to ever grace a field.(imagine what i think bout Corneal too lol)
I feel we will qualify but only after beating the 4th Asian team...we need to start surprising people if we hope to make 3rd though. He was hired to take us to germany but we still need to give him time so when we do qualify we dont embarass ourselves and have the world media ridicule us etc.
