Iron Man wasn't bad.
Downey's sarcasm wasn't at its usual level.

Olympus has fallen was pretty decent. A few unreal escapes here and there but the norm in this kind of movie.

Air Supply brings house down
By CAROL MATROO Monday, May 20 2013

Even The Night Is Better” could not have been a better choice as the band from “down under” sang their long list of hits. This was followed by “just As I Am”, “On My Own”, “Every Woman In The World”—which had the ladies grabbing on to their men, holding on tightly as they lost themselves in the romantic words.

The dynamic duo surprised the crowd as they leapt off the stage and walked through the aisles while singing “Lost In Love.” Even the band’s beefy security detail struggled to keep fans at bay as they tried to touch the men and take their photographs.

And people do actually swoon, as several women held their hands to their hearts while others clasped their palms to their cheeks while fanning themselves. They had fans singing the words aloud as they made their way back to the stage, but the crowd surged forward, and this time security definitely had their hands full as they crowded in front of the stage. Or maybe they did not want to try too hard giving fans the chance to get their money’s worth.

Which was definitely the case judging from the responses from the patrons. Nerissa Boodoo was pleased as punch as she sang along from her vantage seat. “I am absolutely pleased and I believe I am getting my money’s worth. I go to all of their concerts,” she gushed. Thirty-four-year old Teekaram, who is mentally challenged, sat mesmerised as he lisened to what his sister , Shobha said was his all time favourite.

“He said he wanted to see Air Supply so we brought him with my other sister, mummy and daddy,” she said.

“Just Claudette”—that was the way she gave her name—said she left her home in Florida just to attend the concert.

“I am having an absolutely wonderful time. It was worth the trip,” she said.

It was a much anticipated concert which delivered on its promise to deliver an evening of romance. Traffic on the highway and the back roads leading to the venue was backed-up as patrons slowly made their way, many seeking parking spots along the way.

Young men were making a brisk trade offering “safe parking” for $40 for the night.

The romance continued, many men were seen with roses in their hands for their sweethearts. These were on sale at the concert.

Fire officers ensured the safety of the fans inside the venue, while police officers were alert for those who may have had too much of a good time, what with the flow of liquor in the VIP and VVIP sections. A male and female officer had to call for reinforcements after they tried to detain a young man who was most certainly inebriated.

He tried to resist when the officers took his driver’s permit and keys from him, but they were able to subdue him and he was arrested.

Despite a few minor mishaps, it was a happy crowd that walked out of the Centre of Excellence, the romance of the evening still lingering, the words of love still echoing through the air.

Whappen like they forget the original hit, "All out of Love."
Dem days was the height of my puberty yes. Asking dem girls for slow dance and bussing the slow grind and so grateful for the erectus maximus to get a little action.

dont understand what the scoresheet has to do with the record being broken.

In other words, was it a batting paradise or did he alone stand tall.
Was the opposition a shit side that couldn't bat or bowl.

Well he has a great cricketing name - now he has a score to go along with it.

Teaching a class in Istanbul the other day and trying to explain to the class where Trinidadn & Tobago is.

A student ask me to write it on the board. As I write Trinidad, he start to jump.

He tell the class that during the 2006 WC, he made a bet (with the local betting service IIDA) of 500 Turkish Lira that TT and Eng. would 0-0 at the end of the first half. The odds were 5 to 1.
He won 2,500 TL.

Basically that was 333 dollars to win a little over 1600 dollars.

Ah tell him he had to be a mad man. I from TT and would never have been brave enough to make such a bet.

Yacoob Haq shot and killed.

Boxing officials have expressed shock over the untimely death of Yacoob Abdul Haqq, former deputy-chairman of the Trinidad and Tobago Boxing Board (TTBB).

Initial reports indicate that Haqq was shot and killed yesterday at around one p.m., in the St Joseph area, and that his death was accidental.

Haqq was the father of Commonwealth Games silver medallist Tariq Abdul Haqq, and the brother of prominent criminal lawyer Pamela Elder.

Yesterday, several boxing officials said Haqq’s death came as a shock. Among them were T&T Amateur Boxing Association (TTABA) president Cecil Forde and promoter Tansley Thompson.

“We just went to the Trinidad and Tobago Olympic Committee election,” Forde said. “I took him as one of the delegates since he was vice-president of the Amateur Association. At one point he went to the Boxing Board, but he always remained in the Amateur Association.”

Thompson, a friend of Haqq, was stunned.

“I spoke to him whole week,” Thompson said. “We were taking about me putting on a card and putting his son on it.”

To piggyback on what sam sayin dey...you HAVE TO have a man on de ground (watchman/foreman/super/general) commin dey every two hours to check progress

and still yuh materials will magically disappear.

I nver build house from scratch but ah end up hurtin mihself bad bad tryin to renovate ah old house...ah shell really...for rental
Bhagwansings material slightly more expensive than home depot...but is the time delays dat go real cost yuh....labour limers is $
Delays for inspector=$$
Permits is $$$
Water and Lights to get link up?...real slackness

Imagine ah man who was wukkin town and country tell mih to meet him in he car to finalize some papers.....only in T&T oui....and Nigeria..and.....

Can I assume that Bhagwansingh's is reliable despite the delay.
So you meet him up in de car? ;-)

Do you know my father try to open a restaurant in Toronto. And to get the final permission to say that he was up to standard, he HAD to pass some change.

Once mr bhagwansing get de money to fuel he Phantom...he go drop yuh materials on site no problem.
is when yuh use him as a contractor he go buss yuh throat (or so I've heard)

And after playin prim and proper ...waitin for three months and realizin my papers never movin out de office no time,, yeah oui...ah meet de man in he car, on Henry St.

your fadder mus be wanted he business speed up, because yuh know dem civil servants go do dey wukk up here....dey might hol it back lil back until they get something to grease de wheels but eventually stamp go pass

Well your statement contradicts itself a bit. However, the second part of what you said is spot on. Every time they came to inspect there was a problem. When he fixed it, they found a new problem. This happened about five times. Now how the hell  they didn't see "these problems" the first time they came, they needed to come back and suddenly see it. Finally my fadda get fed up and asked how he could solve the predicament and "a suggestion" was made.

Voila, problem solved.

"The Great Escape",lol, seriously though we cannot take this team to the Final, some replacements are required, for a start Solozano is out of place against the pace battery that is awaiting him and I honestly dont want to see him hurt, give the boy another 2 years or play him against weaker opposition.I still feel that Barath should have been retained for the entire season because he wasn't doing to badly, what is the reason for keeping Ramdin and dropping Barath,Barath is probably in the top 2 or 3 batsmen for TT this season.Yannic Ottley should replace Hussain and Mohammed must not play 4 day cricket again for TT,the older Ottley should replace him.Team for the final.Simmons,Barath,Carriah,Katwaroo,Ramdin,Ottley,Ottley,Khan,Emritt,Richards,Gabriel.

Barath's scores have been terrible recently:

4 Trinidad & T v Comb C&C Bridgetown 18 Apr 2013 LA
16, 15 Trinidad & T v Barbados Port of Spain 10 Apr 2013 FC
0 Trinidad & T v Barbados Port of Spain 7 Apr 2013 LA
9 Trinidad & T v Jamaica Kingston 4 Apr 2013 LA
3, 8 Trinidad & T v Jamaica Kingston 30 Mar 2013 FC
14, 11* Trinidad & T v Comb C&C Port of Spain 23 Mar 2013 FC

I help build over my mother house a few years ago. De material real expensive and the labour to, you cant even get men to work, we had to hire some Guyanese to finish de house. Them Trinis, de few we get was real demanding, a bunch of smart man.

They want big money, they reaching late, they on de phone whole day, they want to leave early especially on Fridays and they always need advance money.

And if you dont live in T&T, dont waste your time, man go lick yuh up bad bad.

And them fellas go thief yuh material.

It cost we about $40,000 TT just to cast de foundation.

Thanks Sam.

You know ironically, after we lost to Guyana, Anton Conreal was saying the difference in professionalism when he had Guyanese working at his house as opposed to Trinis.

VB

Anybody here have any experience building a house in TT?

Thinking of doing it but  aside from land wondering what costs might be like?

OK fellas if Barath isn't the one then surely you cannot give such a job to a boy with absolutely no first class experience.Bring in the 2 Ottleys for Mohammed and Hussain and have Ramdin open with Simmons,we can then bring in S.Ganga as an extra bowler and he is more than a useful bat down the order.

Simmons
Barath
Cariah
Mohammed
Katwaroo
Ramdhin
Khan
Emrit
Richards
Kantasingh
Gabriel

Real makeshift side but we are missing serious players and our lineup is unreliable battingwise.
