Football / TT- Mex game..a recap
« on: November 02, 2005, 05:06:04 PM »
Ah know a come late here..but I only saw the game in its entireity abt. a week ago.

And b4 men tink ah bussing filse fr de opposition, I not saying anything here dat ppl doh already know.

U think de Bah. Coach go really listen to ppl on dis site.

I was very impressed with TT defense..damn this was Mex. and we broke dem down in de box time and time again. I'm glad fringer players were there, becz they played to impress..rather than regulars who might not have been  motivated.

Dog was a beast in defence.

Carlos was everybody fadda on de right side. He hit a Mex a beat and leave him out like it was Fatima playing Tranquil...de ma spred liek Blue Ban on baread.. :)

Latas...MY GOD...AT 37 SUCH ABILITY....not evern Hagi or stoichkov  coulda keep it up so in dey 80s.

I reallised how I miised out in the 90s not seeing enought of dis man.

I saw a few games of him under porters..but porter's style killed Latas' natural flair.

Seeing clips of dis man is not enough.

What really troubled me however, was the impotency of our FKs and corners.

I lost count of how many FKs we got. Latas seemed to take them all...as well as corners.
We NEVER troubled the Mexicans.

If we going to the WC taking FKs and corners like dat...we in some serious trouble.

Even with Tall Man waiting to receive the FKs we still couldn't do much.

And should Latas get injured..whos is our maestro in the middle...Spann??

Peace,

« on: October 27, 2005, 04:28:36 PM »
Fellas I trying to get some dvds or vcds of the following games:

Both games vs. CR

The win vs. Guat.

and both games vs. Pan.

I live in Turkey and it's very cheap to UPS from the US to Istanbul.
I will happily pay the costs.

Also, if the address is a prob. I have family in TT or Toronto who will accept it for me.

Store Bay Limer has a site unfortunatley the first and second hlf cllips of the Guat and CR games don't work.

« on: October 12, 2005, 05:33:22 AM »
Imagine, I stuck in Turkey and good old Eurosport bringing WC qualifiers from every where but Concacaf.

In the last week, (of course I saw Eurorean qualifiers)...I lose count of how many gams I see from Africa.

In the last six months ....I was overwhelmed with qualifiers from Asia.

I will see both Bah -Uzbek games live.

Yet other than the first US-Mex game in Mex. they have brought no games from the Con. region.

U mean to tell me I have to watch N. Korea and Bahrain play football, but watching CR or Mex or even America in action is not possible....Damn Man!!

Just heard that Errol McFarlane has been retained as Coach, with Gally Cummings as TD.

I've been told that Gally has a three year plan for Fatima.

Ah know that Chad Defrietas and Sean Ramdoo will spearhead the attack.

Well give them credit, at least they getting some decent expertise.

Football / Canada just wasn't good enough
« on: June 15, 2005, 05:58:21 AM »
North, Central American and Caribbean Zone >>
Canada (CAN)
Overview | News | Profile | Country Information
Luckless Canada miss out

A new boss in respected former international Frank Yallop, a brimming stable of foreign-based talent and a trademark Canadian fighting spirit were simply not enough to see the Canucks through to the final round of North and Central American and Caribbean Zone qualifying. The poor run of results, though partially down to poor luck, saw what some expected to be a resurgent 2004 end in the same heartache as years past – with Germany 2006 dreams strewn in pieces on the snow-covered ground.
With hopes of reliving the glory days of 1986, when they qualified for their only FIFA World Cup™ in Mexico, the Canadians had little trouble surging through to the semi-final round of the region’s qualifiers with two 4-0 wins over Belize. But despite being able to call on such attacking players as Tomasz Radzinski, Iain Hume, Paul Peschisolido and recent Millwall signing Josh Simpson, the 2000 Gold Cup winners fell flat in the hunt for goals in the semi-final round. The disappointment was surely felt most keenly by former player and current boss Yallop, who took over the team’s reins in January of 2004.

“Our play in the final third was not good enough, and that’s not just for the forwards but everybody,” the coach told FIFAworldcup.com in an exclusive post-qualifying interview. “It wasn’t from a lack of effort -- we really put our heart and soul into it, but we couldn’t unlock the door.”

With a fine spirit in the side and hopes pinned on a new generation that came inches from reaching the semi-finals of the FIFA World Youth Championship in the United Arab Emirates in 2003, things could not have gone worse for the expectant Canadians. Finishing with only five points from six matches and scoring only four goals, the anaemic numbers tell only part of the story.

Drawn into an admittedly tough Group 2 alongside Guatemala, Honduras and Costa Rica, things were never going to be easy for Yallop’s charges. But on several occasions, they could have taken full points in their hunt for a spot in the final group stage. Both meetings with Honduras – oddly enough the side they beat to qualify for Mexico 86 – were packed full of incident, with questionable goals disallowed and a general sense of poor fortune pervading.

A win over Guatemala in their last game went a small way to healing wounded pride and kept the Canucks from suffering the humiliation and ignominy of finishing winless with only two slim points from six matches.

In the end, Yallop was pleased with the effort put in by his lads. But he sees a time for healing injured confidence as the most important thing moving forward.

“We can’t be impatient,” said the boss who picked out up-and-comer Atiba Hutchinson as a player to watch for the future. “And, we need to get our confidence back -- the public, the Association, the players, all of us.”

Facts

Canada have competed in the FIFA World Cup preliminaries 11 times since 1958, but have only qualified for the finals once.

They put in a creditable performance at Mexico '86, despite finishing the group round with no points and a blank goal sheet. They lost close games to France (1-0), Hungary (2-0) and Russia (2-0).

Canada's 2002 FIFA World Cup™ qualifying campaign came to a premature end with defeats by Mexico and Trinidad and Tobago. Their best win dates back a long way in a venerable rivalry tradition: in 1904, Canada defeated the USA 7-0.
