Football / Give this Panama side credit.
« on: June 06, 2005, 06:07:10 AM »
They beat J'ca in in the Office. and they tied the US.

When was the LAST time we do that?

I doh count de draw in 2001 vs. the US, de men had already qualified and sent down an experimental side.

Bottom line is Pan. showed that they are not a soft team.

PPl who not following TT football, think we have the same side from 2004.

But in addition  to a new coach, our mdfld has changed drastically over the course of the year.

Late last yr. there was not Theobald, Birchall, Tiger. Now add them Edwards playing the footballof his life and the emergence of Yorke as an alternative...damn!!

Well let's hope we go from strenth to strength.

Football / still vex about Spann
« on: May 31, 2005, 02:34:06 PM »
Is it just me who is still irked abt. Spann being left out.

The fact is we need men who can take it to the opposition and cause probs.

Spann in mf, would give us the additional luxury of using Yorke up front should we get fed up with Stern.

He is also good on the dead ball.

A sat. midfiedl comprising of Spann, Birchall in the middle...with Tiger and Edwards on the wings...nicely supporting Yorike and Jones...

No Sealey or Glenn to come on the second hlf and cause probs..oh well...Hector Sam and Theobald should do the trick.

I was speaking to graeme Rodriguez a few days back.

He mentioned that he played for the Sr. team back in 1985-86.

He said that he played vs. Harts (Scotland), Arsenal and vs. a Tobago II  :)

I didn't have the heart to tell him the last one probably doh count.. :)

In case u r interested TT lost the Ars. game 3-0.
I wasn't even aware of this, but back in dem days, I used to get scant sports info in Canada, yuh boy was livingin f^%$%^& Guelph, Ontario.

Football / For the old timers and intercol lovers
« on: April 23, 2005, 05:14:30 AM »
Fellas I'm doing an article right now, and a lot of it has to do with the N. zone intercol final 1979 - between JD Tech. and Fatima.

JD wond the first game but becz an extra 10 minutes was played in the first half...Fatima's principal complained and there was a 3-3 draw in the rematch.

Fatima won the third encounter at the QPO.

Graeme Rodriguez spoke to me about the game...he said a lot of ppl. were really against Fatima at the rematch. They thought JD had gotten screwed becz Fatima was a prestige school and JD wasn't.

Apparently the Fatima crew received a lot of threats at the game, and Graeme thought it was good thing they drew becz the crowd might have taken out their frustrations on them.

For those of you who were around at the time and saw these trilogy of games what are your thoughts.

I was a young boy then and I saw the 3rd game. Didn't know much abt. Intercol but backed JD becz everybody else was backing Fatima in my neighbourhood and I usually like an underdog.

Football / If I read correctly
« on: April 01, 2005, 01:36:41 PM »
we have just one warm up planned for May.

We bascially have three to five weeks of free time b4 the pan. game and the best they could do is the DIGICEL ALL STARS..now as the last sweat b4 the game I could understand.

If they had brought down venezuela or even cuba for a two game series this would have gone down well. But money pays for these things I guess.

Camp in England in April.. Will the clubs release the players? Remember the fiasco with Porters when he went with the players to Eng. and most of them were not released for their exhibitions which were not on the FIFA Calender.

Football / Ah feeling ansy
« on: March 31, 2005, 07:57:18 AM »
I trying hard not to be negative.

But back in 2000 BSC seemed to have gotten a certain amt. of gelling with the team and was axed for a coach whose style was NOT suited for out team.

What ever progress was made, quickly went out the window....a flukes win over canada and mex. seemed to mamaguy some ppl. for a while.

Now after a year of struggles bsc again seems to have made some inroads...again he'll be replaced.
On both occassions most ppl. wouldn't argue about the axing but rather who would take over the reigns and how to use the layover period efficiently.

We axe the man now, but have to wait a month for the coach to come...just one month before the game vs. panama.

What does he know of the fringe players or availalble players in the US and Europe...how familiar is he with Avery John or Boucad or Nixon? Yes he has scouts, but how much insight is that and what can he do in 30 odd days.

I would have preferred someone familiar with our culture and style...a Gally or Nakhid...or a S. American...or that Croatian who coached CR, Mex. and China.

This man has only 30 days to get ready...we DON'T have timne for him to get acclamatised...AT leas if he had come in April he would have had a few extra weeks.

can his style mesh with our soca brand of football...with some Europeans yes...eg. Ricky Hill.

Jack has mamaguyed us in the past with shit coach Porters.

I crossing my fingers and praying...anything less than a win vs. Pan at home...and kiss ur wc dreams goodbye...the wc is for winners...not ppl who could ony draw at home...oh boy...here we go again....a queazy feeling in my stomach.

Peace,
VB

Football / For those who saw the Guat. game
« on: March 28, 2005, 06:28:13 AM »
I get the impression that our mdfld wasn't too bad, and but for some porr finishing and a little ill luck.

We coulda scrunt up another goal or so.

My question, can improve vs. CR.

Maybe I'm answering my questions but based on those actually selected and not injured.

Sealy and Jones may be the best option up front.

And the core of the back line should be Sancho, Rojas and Dog.

I'm thinking of a midfield composing Y0rke on the left, Spann in centre...Edwards far right
and Tiger as Def. mfd.

I really looking for some hope here.

Stern has not produced and perhaps should be rested or benched.
Our foward options should be Jones, Sealey and Dwight. I guess Angus could sub as mf or forward.

I really think Nixon is a viable option off the bench...but I eh de Coach  :)

So what you all think, we have a chance on Wed. What can we do (besides dropping BSC :)

Football / Yes, the vibes truly gone
« on: March 27, 2005, 04:43:06 PM »
Sorry fellas but the negatives of this new forum really starting to get to me.

On Fri.  for the first time in the five years that I've been visiting Flex's site, I foung myself getting fed up when visiting the Forum.

Why?

Because, with everything being contained in the Gua. TT game thread, I had to enter, then scroll down and figure out what to read first, in terms of who hd the most interesting post.

Also, I had to click in just to have an idea of what was being said.

Now in the old days,  u read everybody subject...posted by whom...and BAM...u picked the post u wanted to read first.

This is a prob. I've experienced on Dave's ESL Page which uses similiar type of forum.

What really gets u is when there are loads of post, having to quickly scan all b4 u choose which to go after and in what order.

I like the modernt technology of this new forum...but as rightly said before, "the vibes gone," the  same character is just not there.

Flex, I eh criticising, becz I know how hard u work...and of course hindsight is 20-20.

But hopefully this is something we can fix up.

Becz if is one site that is like my second home, it's the Flex Forum.

Boss,

I finally get around to asking about Rasim Kara.

Actually met one of his proteges who played for Turkey at U-16 level.

Bottom line is the man is now a coach in the Azerbaijan First Div.

FK Khazar Lenkoran is the club.

Football / I depressed as Hell
« on: March 11, 2005, 07:55:09 AM »
I can't begin to imagine TT without Theobald in our next two qualifiers.

Now if Dwarika shows the old magic, Spann makesa comeback and the Boucad of last year is included, maybe I can handle it.

But we really NEED to be firing on all cylinders.

No Theobald in the next two games could really make or break our chances.

Can we really just ASSUME that Boucad, Dwarika and Spann will perform as we know they can.
I don't even want to call Rahim's name.

And looks like no Glenn either....oh boy.

How about this.

Joh an Jones up front.

Dwarika as the attacking mf
Yorke LF and Edwards rm

Tiger just behind Dwarika.

But can we really rely on Dwarika.
I wish Phillips or BSC would tell us why they have
frozen out Boucad. Being onthe bench is no damn reason.
Dwarika doh even have a damn club.
